iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 They didn't focus on HHH, and they built up his contenders fine, but considering he just came off the biggest win of their career, I think they really needed to give Batista some mic time last night. If he could have just talked quick about how great it was to finally beat HHH and win the title, and maybe gotten off a couple quick one-liners, it would have reminded the fans to feel good about being in the Batista era. Instead, he just had a pointless match with Orton, and the focus was on Edge, Austin, Orton, HHH; everyone but the new champ. The majority of WWE fans don't watch PPVs, so it only seems fair that they get a little bit of payoff, by at least seeing the new champ rub it in a little bit about their victory. The way they booked Batista last night, he looked like an afterthought, and if they keep that up, his reign will fail just like Benoit's in no time.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted April 5, 2005 They did the same thing with Benoit all during his reign last year. It's the pitfall of being on the same show with Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

Guest jumpingbombangel Report post Posted April 5, 2005 I was shocked that it was HHH that opened and closed the show. Shocked. Batista...your new WWE interim champion! Who wants to see the champ anyway when HHH is still around? Because NOBODY will ever be tired of HHH! EVER! He RULES! FOREVER! THE BEST IN THIS BUSINESS!...according to mostly himself and his increasingly retarded fanbase.
Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted April 5, 2005 When HHH isn't on the screen the other characters should be asking "where's HHH?" Batista also sold way too much during his match with Orton. They need to remember how to book a monster. DDP vs. Goldberg at Halloween Havoc 98 would've been less epic if Goldberg had been selling for everyone up to that point. jester 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 Come on, be fair. They needed the time to show retired wrestlers bitchslapping active heels about half their age and with no injuries, making sure they don't have any credability. You know, the important stuff. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 I was shocked that it was HHH that opened and closed the show. Shocked. Seriously though, I was shocked he only took 6 minutes to tell us all how great he was. I thought he'd need another 5-10 You just know he has a little notebook in the back with the amount of time he didn't use that he plans to use on an overextended boring promo at a later date. And yeah, Batista really got second fiddle on this show bad. Not to mention, I don't even see the logic in him beating Orton this early when they have so few heels in the company at the moment. I guess cause Orton is leaving for surgery?
Guest news_gimmick Report post Posted April 5, 2005 I think Orton's surgery is definately the reason why they did that match. If they were smart they can now have Orton place blame on Batista for his injury and gun for him until he recovers. I also noticed Batista's lack of attention last night, but for once Trips didn't get all that much attention either. His self fellating start to the show was relatively short and painless, so I'm not complaining. It would've been nice to have Dave interrupt him though. I too thought they did a good job building up some potential challengers, but overall it was not a mind blowing episode that I thought it should've been. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 If Hassan had leveled Eugene, Hogan and HBK tonight he would have already been a major heel. NOTHING makes a major heel like laying out the legendary Hulk Hogan after a big dramatic entrance. You could have had Hogan lay out Davari and Hassan hit him the back with a chair or something and have just dealt with Hogan. Screw the mark out moment, think of the damn company and future for once. I don't like the Hassan character, but it has heel potential that I cannot deny.

LessonInMachismo 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 At least Batista got the ME spot. Jericho was pushing curtains against the likes of Tazz and Maven, yet they'd still play up how he was the first ever UNDISPUTED CHAMPION.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 I think it's a bad sign that of the company's faith in Batista that they didn't even give him mic time last night. Shit, I mean, even BENOIT got mic time last year.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 why would you expect any different? It was pretty obvious last year, no matter who hhh "puts over" he's the focus of the show. one of the main reasons i stopped watching the crapola.
Guest jumpingbombangel Report post Posted April 5, 2005 When will they push HHH ? Come ON....the "cliq incident" was years ago..... Stop punishing him... AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!! That made my day. Seriously, I think dude was traumatized from the burial after the MSG incident and now this is his compensation made by his own hands. HHH is a great politician and wrestler but a shitty, self-absorbed promoter with serious issues. Women tend to marry the guy that reminds them the most of their fathers, though. Guest Quik Report post Posted April 5, 2005 More importantly, when's up and coming challenger Edge going to cashin his title shot oppurtunity? I mean, Batista has every reason to fear this possible challenger, not only did he injure Benoit last night after losing to him cleanly, but he also has recent losses against Shawn Michaels and a failed title shot against Triple H. So many budding contenders other than Triple H, I'm sure this reign will go somewhere.
Guest M. Harry Smilac Report post Posted April 5, 2005 I couldn't believe Batista didn't come out first. By the time he did come out he got half the pop he could have gotten had he started the show. Hell,he could have come out and said one line and gotten interrupted by HHH and it still would have been better then what they did. HHH wins the title and starts off the following RAW with his usual 'I am __ time champion now, this business, that business', whatever. Now even when the guy loses the title he starts off RAW.Ridiculous. I don't care if someone is a fan or not, if anyone trys to defend shit like that their fucking sheep. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 Well, the point is that I don't think it had anything to do with HHH, I think it was just stupidity by the writers. Triple H, Eric Bischoff, Randy Orton, Edge, Shawn Michaels, Muhammad Hassan, Daiviri, Steve Austin, Simon Dean, Maven, and Kane all got mic time last night. Yet the one guy who really needed it, and who the fans really wanted to hear from coming off his world title victory? Nothing. It just doesn't make sense. Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2005 I was surprised they didn't have a short backstage segment with Batista showing up, stepping out of a limo or something, getting told about the Orton match by Coach, and dropping a one-liner on him. I understand saving his first entrance into the arena as champion for last, as his show closing segments popped nice ratings leading into Mania, but to not use him at all until 10:55 was stupid. I bet part of the reason he and Flair get along so well is that they get together and BS about how much they were screwed in the past. Both of them would probably blame Bischoff. Remember that in WWE revisionist history, HHH was such an obvious talent and future star back when he was Jean-Paul Levesque/Terra Ryzing that he's mentioned along with Foley and Austin as WCW's biggest mistake firings. NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2005 Triple H is already almost giving away the fact that he will be champ again in a few months. He did this same schtick with Benoit, about, how losing didn't matter because it was just one time, then it was a second time on PPV, and then FINALLY when HHH did beat Benoit in a lesser meaningful match on RAW, HHH acted like he had evened the score forever, and had proved to all the doubters that he was Benoit's superior.
