Matt Young Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 I wasn't sure whether to post this in this forum or Movies/TV/DVD, but I decided that a response would be more likely here. I turned on the TV today and flipped to what I thought was Fox Sports/FSN West, looking for a Dodgers or Angels game. I instead witnessed a pretty good game between the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners. The feed cut out after the game, though, and went to black. I noticed that this channel was FSN Northwest. I flipped through the FSN networks and saw a White Sox/Twins game on FSN North. I pressed "enter" and the game was on! Now I'm watching my beloved White Sox for the first time this year, something which will likely be a rare occurence out here in California. My question is this- Normally, I only get channels 652-653 when it comes to Fox Sports. Those are the West/California channels. I have no special sports pack... Does everyone get all the baseball games now? If so, is it only this week, ending tomorrow? I never got any mail on it, whether it be regular, e-mail, or DirecTV viewer mail, and DirecTV.com says nothing. If this ends tomorrow, I'm going to be pissed that I didn't discover it til today.
Precious Roy Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 I've got Adelphia digital cable and have been getting a free preview of Extra Innings this week, so I assume you're getting the DirecTV equivalent.
mike546 Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 Anybody know how much it costs? I might get it.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 Like $150-$200. I've been loving XM's radio coverage of all the games. Plus a 24/7 station devoted to nothing but baseball talk.
Matt Young Posted April 10, 2005 Author Report Posted April 10, 2005 Ah, thanks. I heard from others after posting that it is a one week deal. The full Extra Innings package is 4 payments of around $42 (not sure on the exact figure).
MrRant Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 Anybody know how much it costs? I might get it. Can probably pick it up now for around $140. Free preview ends after tomorrow.
mike546 Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 Probably a dumbass question, but thats per season, not month, right?
Matt Young Posted April 10, 2005 Author Report Posted April 10, 2005 Indeed. Over 60 games a week, all season long. I think that's what the commercial said.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 If you are a White Sox fan in California, it would be worth it probably.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted April 10, 2005 Report Posted April 10, 2005 All through the 750-760 range you'll find all the games on special PPV channels in a row, so you don't have to go searching for the regional channels. They do the free preview I think twice a year, once now, and once around the All-Star break when the price goes down by half.
Matt Young Posted April 10, 2005 Author Report Posted April 10, 2005 I'm thinking it'd be worth it to see the Sox and Cubs, but I can't afford it right now after the cost of my WrestleMania 21 ticket. If I can't get the package within a month or so, I'll probably get it in July at the All-Star break. However, I doubt that my White Sox (4-1, best in AL!) will still be in first place at that time. The Cubs may have a shot. I just wish there was a deal where I could pay to see all the teams I like from every sport (basically the flags in the sig, sans the Dodgers whose games I get for free) and save by not paying for all those games from every team. Surely, I'd love to check out other out of market teams, but I can't afford separate packages for the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NCAA, nor would I have time to get my money's worth.
