All-Time Draft Formalities

Recommended Posts

Ironically, the Rochester Red Wings were in town to play the Ottawa Lynx in a four-game set, including a double-header on Saturday. Great, exciting, close games; the double-header at least. :)

KANSAS CITY MONARCHS

Lineup vs. LHP:

1. L - 2B - Joe Morgan

2. R - 1B - Jeff Bagwell

3. B - CF - Mickey Mantle

4. R - LF - Joe Medwick

5. R - 3B - Ron Santo

6. R - RF - Bobby Bonds

7. R - C - Johnny Bench

8. R - SS - Robin Yount

Lineup vs. RHP:

1. L - 2B - Joe Morgan

2. R - 1B - Jeff Bagwell

3. B - CF - Mickey Mantle

4. L - LF - Jim Edmonds

5. R - 3B - Ron Santo

6. L - RF - Bobby Abreu

7. R - C - Johnny Bench

8. R - SS - Robin Yount

Starting Rotation:

R - Curt Schilling

L - Bill Foster

R - "Bullet" Joe Rogan

R - Red Ruffing

Bullpen:

- Closer: John Smoltz

- Setup: Robb Nen

- LOOGY: Jim Brewer, Arthur Rhodes

- Sidearm specialist: Gene Garber

- Middle relief: Gregg Olson

- Mop-up: Rick Aguilera

Bench:

* R - 2B/SS - Julio Franco

* L - RF - Chuck Klein

* L - 1B - Will Clark

* R - C - Johnny Romano

Manager: I'm not sure who would fall into this, but only bunt for hit, aggressive stolen base, don't reserve closer for endgame (in fact, since it's Smoltz, leverage him for as many innings as possible). I think that Sparky Anderson probably fills the first two, but it's hard to tell with the last one, considering that the Big Red Machine teams almost had six man rotations with a very small bullpen.

Reservists:

3B - Bill Joyce

RHP - Jeff Shaw

CF - George Van Haltren

LF - Zach Wheat

3B - Jimmy Collins
