After the match, Rave attacked Punk and hanged him with a chain. He was saved by the faces and cut a promo saying that Rave would die and The Embassy would be the pallbearers. 6) SAMOA JOE over COLT CABANA in the Double Stakes Four Corner Survival via submission to earn a future Pure Title Shot 7) ALEX SHELLEY over NIGEL MCGUINNESS in the Double Stakes Four Corner Survival to earn a World Title shot 8) AUSTIN ARIES fought JAMES GIBSON to a DOUBLE PIN - DRAW Todd Sinclair declared the match a DRAW, but offered the opportunity for 5 more minutes. Gibson agreed, but Aries was hesitant. Shelley then came and attacked Aries to end the match. ) BRYAN DANIELSON over HOMICIDE via Cattle Mutilation in a Lumberjack Match to tie the Best of 5 series 2-2. Spot of the night came in this match with a superplex from the top rope to the floor. One of the lumberjacks ended up attacking Danielson during the match and revealing a Rottwielers shirt...so there may be a new Rottie. Match #5 will be a Cage Match Credit:rohwrestling.com/messageboard I didn't think they'd be doing the Shelley/Aries feud already, and I really like where they're headed with the Samoa Joe/Jay Lethal storyline. Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 Sounds like a very solid show. I like Lethal getting the win over Spanky, and Lethal-Joe should be a great match. I think Aries' title run is going to pick up momentum now, with what should be a hot Shelley feud plus a rematch with Gibson.
Eclipse 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 I believe the lumberjack that interfered was E.C Negro.
Guest Breakdancingbatista Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Can I get some info on Vordell Walker and Kevin Steen. Are they any good? What kind of style do they use? Finishers?
Llakor 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 Can I get some info on Vordell Walker and Kevin Steen. Are they any good? What kind of style do they use? Finishers? Kevin Steen was trained by Jacques Rougeau Jr. (In practice that means that he was largely trained by Eric Mastrocola (whose biggest claim to fame is a Sunday Night Heat match with Handsome JF, another Rougeau student, against Rosey and Hurricane) and Kevin's real mentor is Pierre Carl Ouellet aka Jean Pierre Lafitte. Kevin started as a high flyer called simply "Le Kid" but after blowing out his knee turned to a more mat based styled with a high impact offence. The wrestler that he most resembles in style and build is the late Owen Hart. (This btw is my own personal opinion, so don't get upset at me if you somehow think it inappropriate to say so.) Finishers: Package Pile Driver famously stolen by PCO when he was wrestling as X for TNA Steenalizer - hard to describe - there is a MV of it floating around - opponent starts out in a power-bomb postion and Kevin sturns it into an over-head throw like a Suplex. Innovative, Technical and Vicious - like Kevin Steen. I've written about Kevin a lot to explain him to American fans especially to explain his nickname "Mr. Wrestling" which was given to him by the Montreal fans. My When We Were Marks profile of Kevin called "The Kevin Steen Conspiracy" is here: http://the-w.com/thread.php/id=24624 This is an interview that I did with Kevin after one of our show last year when he was still our champion (International Wrestling Syndicate): http://the-w.com/thread.php/id=22551 It should be said that Kevin hasn't been given the opportunity yet in ROH to really demonstrate how good he is. If you want to see Kevin at his best I would reccommend: Know Your Enemies 2004: best 2/3 falls vs. Pierre Carl Ouellet for the IWS title Blood, Sweat & Beers 2004: Fred la Merveille accuses Kevin of not being "French" enough for the title. Amazing match. Born to Bleed 2004: 6pack match for the IWS title - Kevin vs. Franky the Mobster vs. PCO vs. Kurt Lauderdale vs. El Generico vs. EXesS - Match was so hot Kevin got attacked by a fan (I'm not encouraging the behaviour, I'm just saying) Amazing dive by Kevin off some scaffolding Un F'N Sanctioned 2005: One of the things that makes this THE IWS DVD to buy is the Franky the Mobster vs. Kevin Steen match including a great promo to set up the match Un F'N Sanctioned 2003: Until we did Un F'N S 2005, this was the dvd that we reccommended to newbies. One of the reasons: Kevin Steen's first match in the IWS against EXesS69. If you listen closely, you can hear the first rumblings of a Mr. Wrestling chant. All of these discs are available at www.smartmarkvideo.com and tell them that Llakor sent you. (No real reason to do that, I'm just saying.) ************************************************************************** Non-IWS performances to pick up: Pretty much any of his PWG matches (Translation, I don't remember what is out, but it's all good) JAPW 7th Anniversary show - Steen vs EXesS - two old adversaries face each other in front of a new crowd, they start out with the crowd going "What the Hell" and finish with the crowd on their feet. As Bob Magee of PWBTS has written and I'm going to paraphrase because I don't remember exactly - Best thing of watching the IWS guys with a new crowd is watching the part of the crowd that has never seen them before slowly realize that they are watching something special. I would reccommend any of the Steen/JAPW stuff, but JAPW is slow to release. The 7th Anniversary show I know is out. Mid-Summer Madness 2004: Kevin Steen vs Samoa Joe - Kevin is IWS and EWR (Quebec) Champion, Joe naturally is ROH champion. The two men beat the shit out of each other for a twenty-minute draw before Franky the Mobster and Chase Ironside turn it into a fun tag match. New Year's Madness 2005: Kevin Steen wins a four-way against Samoa Joe, El Generico and EXesS69 which gives him the right to face Austin Aries in an INCREDIBLE match for the ROH title. The two Madness shows are inter-promotional shows done in Montreal by Marc le Grizzly. If you are interested in them, I can pick up the DVDs for you from Marc. Contact me by e-mail for price details. ([email protected]) And I have a whole rant built up about how Kevin Steen has fought for the ROH title TWICE outside of ROH and how there is a built-in angle right THERE, which ROH is just pissing away, don't get me started... Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2005 It shouldn't bother me, but it bugs me that Meltzer lists shows like this as "house shows" on Observer. It's an indy, they're all house shows.
