Guest jm29195 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 With the new draft just having being announced, I thought I'd go back and see what's happened to the people who were drafted in the last one.... No.1 Smackdown pick- Rene Dupree- went from tag wrestler to mid card focus to tag wrestler and has now disappeared after being sacrificed by Taker a couple of months ago No.1 Raw pick- Shelton Benjamin- went from tag wrestler to feuding with HHH and evolution, is now IC champ and in a much stronger position than he was last year imo No.2 Smackdown pick- Mark Jindrak- went from tag wrestler to Lex Luger wannabe on velocity, then to Team Angle MK 2 and now is back on Velocity again... No.2 Raw pick- Nidia- from valet to women's wrestling, no major feuds and was very low profile- was released late last year No.3 Smackdown pick- HHH- never appeared on Smackdown- was swapped back for- The Dudleys- Main evented GAB04 against Taker for some reason and haven't been seen since being put through a table by Big Show in November Booker T- Turned heel on his first SD appearance, but relegated to a Papa Shango wanabee to allow JBL to shine, won US title in a shit series with Cena, was pushed straight back into main event status as a face in November but his credibility was destroyed when he took the loosing pinfall at Survivor Series and Armageddon two months running, not at Wrestlemania but should have a decent match with Angle at Judgment Day... No.3 Raw pick- Rhyno- went from Heyman's lackey on SD to jobbing to Benoit in his first Raw appearance, could've got over if team with Taijiri had been allowed to beat La Resistance at Unforgiven, but they didn't and he had been doing nothing since. Looked to have a chance of being used effectively at the ECW PPV but was fired over WM weekend for breaking a flowerpot in a domestic... No.4 Smackdown pick- Rob Van Dam, went from tagging with Booker T on Raw to feuding with Charlie Haas on Smackdown. Team with Mysterio at Judgment Day recieved good reactions so it was ditched until October, when they beat Kenzo Suzuki and Rene Dupree at No Mercy- held titles until dropping them to the Bashams earlier this year. Currently out with a knee injury, due back in 2-3 months. No.4 Raw pick- Taijiri- went from being head of the Japanese mafia on Smackdown to feuding with Evolution on Raw- had decent matches with Batista and HHH and was in some great six man tags with Benoit and Edge, before being forgotten about as the summer went on. Failed to beat La Resistance with Rhyno at Unforgiven but did beat them in Japan with Regal. Currently tag champion but rarely appears on Raw. Also jobbed to Coach at Backlash... No.5 Smackdown pick- Teddy Long- ended up managing Jindrak on Velocity before being abruptly promoted to SD general manager as a face. Has occupied this position for 8 months... No.5 Raw pick- Edge- speared Bischoff on his first appearance on Raw- beat Kane in an awful match at Backlash. Won tag titles with Benoit and had ace matches with Batista/Flair. Lost to La Resistance in Montreal, and was pencilled in to turn on Benoit and main event Vengance. This didn't happen and he instead beat Orton for the IC belt at the above ppv. Had to vacate in September due to an injury and officially turned heel at Taboo Tuesday, after walking out on Benoit, also causing him to loose the belts to La Res on Raw two weeks later... Involved in the main event at Survivor Series and New Years Revolution, beat HBK at the Royal Rumble and was booked as a threat in the Rumble match itself. Had an awesome street fight with HBK in February (my pick for Raw MOTY so far) Won a title shot at Wrestlemania, and looks to have a decent match with Benoit at Backlash. Also famous for his extracurricular activities... No.6 Smackdown pick- Spike Dudley- went from bumping machine on Raw to cruiserweight jobber on Smackdown. Turned heel after winning cruiserweight championhip from Mysterio in August, in conjunction with bigger brothers. Had a lengthy cruiser title reign and played a decent character but profile plummeted and he lost the belt to Funaki when his 'brothers' disappeared... No.6 Raw pick- Paul Heyman- went from SD general manager to being absent on tv, never appeared on Raw and eventually wound up managing Dudley's and then Heidenreich on Smackdown. Last seen in a coffin in January. Hopefully they're going to allow him some influence on the upcoming ECW ppv... Also drafted later that week were- Rico/Jackie Gayda- from Raw to Smackdown- went into a tag team with Haas and won the belts earlier last year, had a great match at No Mercy, but Rico was released soon after, never given a chance to get over due to a restrictive character.... Jackie has been relegated to more T&A filler since breaking up with Haas at Armageddon Chuck Palumbo- from Smackdown to Raw- went from FBI to doing nothing on Raw, I don't think he even made one Raw appearance. Appeared in October as Custom Chucky P and was fired soon after- last match was a great match against Benoit on Heat A Train- went from upper midcard on Smackdown to Raw. Was sidelined for months due to injury- made one appearance on Raw, jobbing to Jericho, and then went out with another injury. Was fired in October, currently working in Japan. So out of the 19 people drafted last year:- Shelton, Edge, and Teddy Long are currently in better positions. HHH was a non factor Spike Dudley and Booker T are in roughly the same positions as they were last year... Renee Dupree, Mark Jindrak and Jackie Gayda are in worse positons... Paul Heyman, RVD and the Dudley's are no longer on TV A Train, Chuck Palumbo, Rico, Rhyno, and Nidia have all been released Lets see what they come up with this year! razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 No.1 Smackdown pick- Rene Dupree- went from tag wrestler to mid card focus to tag wrestler and has now disappeared after being sacrificed by Taker a couple of months ago What do you expect with a dead end gimmick and the fact that 5 other people also do the Million Dollar Man pose? No.1 Raw pick- Shelton Benjamin- went from tag wrestler to feuding with HHH and evolution, is now IC champ and in a much stronger position than he was last year imo Hungry Benjamin still needs a manager. No.2 Smackdown pick- Mark Jindrak- went from tag wrestler to Lex Luger wannabe on velocity, then to Team Angle MK 2 and now is back on Velocity again... Chris Masters has alot to look forward to. The Dudleys- Main evented GAB04 against Taker for some reason and haven't been seen since being put through a table by Big Show in November Who will they be force to put over this year? No.4 Raw pick- Taijiri- went from being head of the Japanese mafia on Smackdown to feuding with Evolution on Raw- had decent matches with Batista and HHH and was in some great six man tags with Benoit and Edge, before being forgotten about as the summer went on. Failed to beat La Resistance with Rhyno at Unforgiven but did beat them in Japan with Regal. Currently tag champion but rarely appears on Raw. Also jobbed to Coach at Backlash... Will be the star of the ECW PPV. Had an awesome street fight with HBK in February (my pick for Raw MOTY so far) Won a title shot at Wrestlemania, and looks to have a decent match with Benoit at Backlash. Also famous for his extracurricular activities... Mr. Money in the Bank is boring and we now know that the true star of the E&C team was.....Captain Charisma. Booker T- Turned heel on his first SD appearance, but relegated to a Papa Shango wanabee to allow JBL to shine, won US title in a shit series with Cena, was pushed straight back into main event status as a face in November but his credibility was destroyed when he took the loosing pinfall at Survivor Series and Armageddon two months running, not at Wrestlemania but should have a decent match with Angle at Judgment Day... Why was'nt Booker T given a Smackdown World Title shot? No.5 Smackdown pick- Teddy Long- ended up managing Jindrak on Velocity before being abruptly promoted to SD general manager as a face. Has occupied this position for 8 months... Needs to manage Booker T and Shelton Benjamin to main event status. Put on a shirt PLEASE! Needs to be a manager on Raw. I would rather listen to Paul E than Coach as the part time replacement announcer.

Guest jm29195 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 How long is he out for then, I meant 2-3 months from now, because I knew he said wouldn't be back for the ECW PPV, what's wrong with him anyway?

Guest jm29195 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Cheers man, I've only got a vague memory of what happened in Smackdown most of last year, the Rey/RVD vs Kenzo Suzuki /Dupree were a lot better than most expected though weren't they?

Promoter 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 I want to ask some here how the wwe should run this draft. It seems that they are wondering themselves. A new rumour has it spanning multiple shows. Should they move the champs as rumoured a few months back? Really, this is one time I really can't come up with something really compelling that would really boost interest and make it entertaining. razazteca 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 The draft needs Mel Keilper as guest commentator or at least bring in Jim Cornette to play the part.......shoot comments would be a plus.
Taker666 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 Heres somewhat of a interesting concept. Why not have the fans make the decisions on who should be traded. sorta like Taboo Tuesday, the fans would vote online on who should be traded. the WWE would have all the superstars from Raw and SmackDown listed on a WWE Online Draft website and the fans chooses the top 6 or 7 superstars from each brand that should be traded to the other show. than on the day of the draft, the WWE would announce one by one on who the top ten were picked by the fans and he/she would be traded. Theres probably a better way of handling an online draft. but this is just an idea of what I was thinking.

My guess: Building up some OVW teams...while at the same time staying off of WWE TV since they've been on TV in one way or another since...geez, since the days of ECW. And in WWF/E alone since mid to late 99.
