Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 I really hope that Ronnie Brown makes the biggest impact, hard to say really as the Dolphins STILL need a QB. Unless Brock Berlin can be anything. Does anyone have a clue about this guy? I honestly can't remember seeing him play at all. Berlin? He was the QB at Miami. So he's not far from home but seriously he was no good at Miami. Except maybe that game against Louisville. Who knows though.......has anyone just been absolutely AWFUL in college and just sucked hard and then become an NFL star? I'm not talking about mediocre I'm talking about a huge nobody that sucked. I wouldn't say Berlin sucked. He was merely OK. Some games he'd look great, and in others he'd look pretty bad. He's undersized for a QB (6'1"). I don't think he's got any shot of making the team, as I'd think Feeley gets the starter spot (I'm willing to give him the shot as the #1 guy), with Frerotte as the backup, and Rosenfels as the #3. Why is Rosenfels even still there? I have also never seen him play. I know that the Stasch was big on the guy, even though he never actually gave him a shot. He must suck though, I mean seriously you would have to suck to not get a chance last year.

He started the Ravens game at the end of last season and was horrible. 16-38 for 246, with 3 picks and 2 fumbles.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 Well the discussion is a moot point now b/c I just heard on the radio that White signed a free agent contract with the Chiefs. If he makes it yay. If he doesn't then he can move on with his life. All I wanted was for him to have the chance.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 Jesus man you talk about him like he's your bestest buddy in the whole wide world. Well he IS my favorite football player from college....and I do want to see him get a chance. and it looks like he is. I have no clue what the hell is going on with this. It hasn't been mentioned on anything except the radio.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2005 Damn, White did not even sign a FA contract. He just got an invite to the Chiefs mini-camp. I am surprised he did not even latch on as an undrafted free agent somewhere.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Maybe because he's more immobile than Drew Bledsoe, has had more injuries than Chris Chandler, and flings the ball like Donovan McNabb after 30 attempts? Oh, and makes decisions like Mike Vick.

The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 And yet...32 teams pass on him for 7 rounds and the day after for Undrafted FA contracts... Which means all the trophys in the world at the college level doesn't change that nothing he has translates well into the pro game.
nogoodnick 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Numbers dont mean shit in the NFL. Ty Detmer and Timmy Chang can vouch for that.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 29, 2005 I feel worse for Timmy Chang than Jason White. In fact, if it wasn't for Dama, I would barely know who White was compared to say, a Chris Rix or Brock Berlin. And they all won the same amount of national championships! Dude is on TV all the time during college football season and has won like 1000 QB and offensive awards. I've heard of the guy, I just don't follow college football and therefore Jason White as much as some do. What I follow are NFL prospects; something White was never touted much as. My interest in college football fluctuates with how good my fave is doing.. and they've never been anywhere close to good since McNown left (WE ALMOST BEAT USC THIS YEAR DAMMIT!!! Something not many teams could say..)
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 I fully expect Dick Vermeil to cry about Jason White's hardwork and heart, before ultimatley releasing him. From what I understand Vermeil didn't want him and the GM was the one that made him pick White up. I dunno. Apparently they aren't making him sign a waiver which is weird b/c the NFL thinks the guy is made of glass.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2005 Just to close the book on it, White was released from the Chiefs' minicamp this weekend. And he said he's probably done with football. I liked Igg's idea for Arena football. I mean I watch it every now and then but not hardcore enough to even have a favorite team. I could go for the one White is on. But I guess White is going to be one of those great college QB's that never moved beyond it. Oh well he's ready to come back and Coach and Stoops is welcoming him. So that'll be good to have him around. *40 years from now Jason White is sitting on a park bench with children fighting* Kid: You're gay for whiteman! Other Kid: No you're gay for Whiteman! White: Nobodies gay for Whiteman.....

Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted May 2, 2005 This'll make Dama happier for White's chances, at any rate: The undrafted: They're worth a close look By Sporting News - SportingNews Perhaps you shouldn't have been so quick to dismiss that long list of names -- in agate type -- signed by your favorite team. A great many undrafted free agents have made it big in the NFL. Here are a whole bunch of 'em -- in small type because they deserve your focus: Chiefs RB Priest Holmes, FB Tony Richardson, C Casey Wiegmann, G Brian Waters and S Sammy Knight; Cardinals QB Kurt Warner; Panthers QB Jake Delhomme; Titans WR Drew Bennett; Broncos WR Rod Smith; Chargers TE Antonio Gates; Lions TE Marcus Pollard; Colts C Jeff Saturday; Browns G Joe Andruzzi; Bears DE Adewale Ogunleye; Vikings DT Pat Williams; Bills LB London Fletcher; Giants LB Antonio Pierce. Pretty impressive, huh?
