Guest Report post Posted May 31, 2002 I think the initive could have and should have been better than it was. Adam was badass though.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 31, 2002 The only thing I liked about Adam was his god complex, which always rules IMO. He also had a way with words... Watchin the episode where Anyas ex who she turned into a troll... that episode is just FAN-FARKIN-TARSTIC.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 31, 2002 Season 4 was a lot better then it was given credit for. The only thing that bugged me about Adam was that he was the only big bad that didn't go after Buffy as personaly as the others did...no IMMEDIATE threat to her. Master, Angel, Faith, Mayor, Glory, Warren...they all went after Buffy directly...I think that made season 4 suffer a little...I liked it though
Guest Report post Posted May 31, 2002 A lot of foreshadowing in "Restless", the Season Four finale. Well, maybe not as much foreshadowing as just the writers going back to that episode for some ideas. Nevertheless, I quite enjoyed that episode. That season had some good stuff. My favorite ep probably being "Wild at Heart"
Guest Ripper Report post Posted May 31, 2002 Hush, This years Girl, Who are You, Superstar, Fear Itself, and Something Blue were all gems to me.
Guest Report post Posted June 1, 2002 Those episodes you mentioned are indeed excellent. "Superstar" always cracks me up. One of my all time favorite bits is from "Something Blue"- Buffy: "...I probably only escaped because I'm the Slayer. Some kind of natural immunity." Xander: "Yeah, right. You're marrying Spike because you're so right for each other." Buffy: "Xander!" Spike: "That's it. You're off the usher list." Or when Spike is tied up in Giles' bathtub- "Passions is on! Timmy's down a bloody well, and if you make me miss it, I'll..."
Guest Ripper Report post Posted June 4, 2002 I once again have to pimp Clare Kramer playing Glory as my second favorite big bad(Angelus takes the top spot) ever. She was wonderful in her part. Her lines were wonderfully written, she really could sell that over confidence and how psycho she was...she was just wonderful. If it weren't for that Ben dude having to be on the show, I might have pushed her to the top spot, but being part Ben, she loses some points.
Guest Report post Posted June 5, 2002 Yeah, as I was watching "Checkpoint" yesterday on FX, I forgot how much fun Glory was. A few of the critics tore her apart, but I definitely enjoyed her whole vibe. Ben was a lamer. When Giles put him down for the count in "The Gift" I marked out.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted June 5, 2002 Yeah, the whole "She's a hero, you see. Not like us." speech was my mark out moment on TV in sometime.
Guest Risk Report post Posted June 5, 2002 Yep, it was fun to see Giles sacrifice an innocent life to save even more innocent lives. Speaking of which, does Buffy even know Giles killed Ben? That was never addressed. I don't think she would approve, that could lead to some interesting episodes. But Glori(ficus) was probably the strongest "Big Bad," except having the side-effect of being in human form and having to turn into Ben. BTW, if you have watched the episodes where Warren is first introduced, you find out his mom lives in Sunnydale. Since Warren's body was completly destroyed he will be concidered missing, not dead. I would like to see Willow tell his mother he's dead.
Guest Report post Posted June 5, 2002 3 more days until season 2 is out on DVD. I've got my copy reserved.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted June 6, 2002 Yeah, his mom did live there, but it pretty much seems that he didn't go anywhere near her teh whole season. And his girlfriend(Kitrina) dropped that nerdy girl look and went to hotness within a year, didn't she?? And Andrew was living with his mom, will she miss her Mexico bound son. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 6, 2002 Just watched the 'Warren makes a love-bot' episode for like the 4th time. A REALLY good show with the best line being "No, you cannot possibly know this about her.... She is a ROBOT" Even after the 4th time I NEVER see the ending coming.
Guest Risk Report post Posted June 6, 2002 Why do the moms(in this case Warren's) always let vampires in? It sucked that Katrina died, I would have thought the Trio would have resurrected her into some kind of zombie monster. I think Willow/Warren's mother would be a good episode, to show that Warren was a real person and not just a "bad guy."
Guest Ripper Report post Posted June 6, 2002 I can say without a pause..and i quote Wendy Testaburger here...fuck Warren, fuck him right in his ear!!! That dude deserved exactly what he got. He was a serial killer waiting to happen. He had this massive hate of women and the bodies would have been piling up if he had been allowed to live. First Katrina, then he thought he killed Buffy, then he showed no remorse to killing Tara. He basically tried to rape Katrina, and the whole you deserved it speech he was giving Willow made me all the happier she filleted his ass. I loved the inter play between the Major and Faith, that is what made their characters so intersesting. When they weren't busy killing people or ploting world domination, they had what was probably the sweetest father/daughter relationship this side of Giles and Buffy. It did make you feel for the Mayor some when you saw his genuine pain to the fact that Faith was hurt so badly, and vice-versa when faith heard he was dead. But warren didn't have this dynamic. he never displayed anything but carrying for himself and himself only. I mean the guy made the robot feel pain if she didn't follow his orders right away. All of her programing was a glimpse of how he felt about women and although I didn't see it before, it is apparent how psychotic he really always was. I only wish Dark Willow had made his as scream a little longer(although the bullet through the chest thing was the shiot). I don't want to identify with Warren. I don't want anyone else to view him as anything more than a murderous, mysogenistic, psycho that would have done alot more damage to the word if Willow didn't turn him into a skinnless brickett.
Guest Report post Posted June 6, 2002 The Mayor/Faith relationship ruled. Even a bit of sexual tension, like when Faith would call him "Sugar Daddy" and give him a knowing look. Of course, he would reply with something like "Faith, I don't find that soft of stuff amusing. I'm a family man." One of my favorite lines is when he says "Some lucky girl has herself a Playstation!" As for Warren, I never felt any sympathy or anything for him. Adam Busch played his role well though.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted June 6, 2002 The whole thing with Warren's mom wouldn't be played to feel pitty for Warren...but the mom who didn't know of his doings and what not, her remorse and how Willow delt with it would be good tv. Warren developed into a more sadistic character then I thought they could with him...he went from a joke to a very convincing psycho. And the other guy in the trio...not Warren or Jon...I think his name might have been Andrew...he also played a member in Harmony's vampire gang...just a little tid bit. If I get bored later I'm going to count down the list and see how many times Ripper has posted...he must have 40% of the messages in the thread. June 11...WHOO!! Buffy season 2!! Guest Report post Posted June 7, 2002 Yeah, the guy who played Andrew (Tom Lenk) played vamp Cyrus as well.
Guest Risk Report post Posted June 7, 2002 Thanks Youth N Asia. My idea isn't made to give sympathy to Warren, it's to show that he's a real person and not just a murdering psycho. Besides, I'd like to see the guy's family. Also, misogyny is a psychological imparement that isn't always the person who has it's fault. Many times it is his fault, but not always. I do, however, believe Warren brought what he did on himself. I could understand him trying to control Katrina's mind and make her his sex slave, but the murder was really sick. You could tell how much she cared for him too, before she found out he created sex-bots. I just hate how when someone dies(like Ben), they never mention it again. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 12, 2002 So I am watching the eps. where Glory finds out that Dawn is the key, and I am thinkin, this is a really underrated (or understated) show. It unapologetically rocks YOUR house! I don't know if they meant to be quick on the editing but the whole sequence with Glory and Willow rules it. "What do you have there, a bag of tricks" "No, a bag of knives" then there is the "You know what they used to do with Witches? They used to crucify them" "They also used to bow down to gods" and then Glory starts to laugh...that was 100% good. VERY nice cuts. And Giles totally upped his badass quotient too. The whole knocking out the minion like it was nothin, and the whole 'go fetch me some twine and when you turn around I will fuck this punk up thing was fan farkin tarstic. Spike has a pretty nifty scene with Dawn as well.
Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted June 13, 2002 Season 2, on DVD. I've heard great things about Season 2. I started watching in the middle of the third actually. So, I decided to go out and get it...but, I didn't have the first season either, so I bought them both today. I watched "Welcome to the Hellmouth" & "The Harvest". Awesome awesome episodes...its kinda like watching Star Wars - Episode 1 or 2, just thinking about what happens to them in the future. Oh, am I the only one who thinks Sarah Michelle Gellar looked 100x MUCH better looking when the show first started? She has gotten too thin now....ugh. Dames
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted June 13, 2002 I think she was hottest in season 1...Willow was in season 2 and 3... I got the DVD the day it came out at Sams Club for $38.97, hell of a price for a 6 dvd set with 22 episodes. Season 2 was definatly the best...closely followed by 3. The Season 2 set also has more audio commentary then the first one. Haven't had time yet...but I will soon sit down and have a season 1 and 2 marathon. Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted June 13, 2002 OH....and what is the deal with SMG's breasts??? Serious question. In "Welcome to the Hellmouth" & "The Harvest"....they look pretty big. In the MTV movie awards commercials with Jack Black, she looks like she was a struggling A cup. Push up bras can only do so much.. Dames
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted June 13, 2002 I think dressing like a high school girl just made them naturaly look bigger...can't explain it...she's still a babe now...but season 1 she was a complete knock out. 2:40 AM...Smarks never sleep
Guest Risk Report post Posted June 13, 2002 I noticed the same thing, Dames. She was eighteen then(in 97).
Guest Ripper Report post Posted June 13, 2002 I think it all goes hand in hand with the huge amount of weight that she has lost since the beganing of the show(aka, when she was HOT). She looked 1000 times better with some meat on her bones. I have to say that a: Willow looked her hottest in season 4...although that Black Haired Willow to end this season was PREEETTTYYY HOT.
Guest Report post Posted June 14, 2002 I was totally digging badass Willow this season. Alyson is just pure hotness. As for Sarah, I agree that she used to look a lot better. Anyway, I picked up the Season Two DVD set. Good stuff. I also finally got around to watching more of my Season Four set (import). Arg, bad DVD transfer. The image is stretched out. Not uber horrible, but everything looks a bit tall and wanky. Weaksauce, nonetheless. Best fix that up when they get around to releasing it here in the US. The picture is fine for all extra video clips though. They have a bit with the show's (former) scorer Christophe Beck, which I thought was pimpage. That guy is just an absolutely incredible musician. Guest Ripper Report post Posted June 14, 2002 At the rate they are realasing the US DVD's they should have PLENTY of time to fix it...Lets see...we should be getting season 4 in about winter 2004..
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted June 14, 2002 I've just recently got into the show (Well, back in November) and I really wish I got into it back when it first started, which I can't explain why I didn't, because I was a huge fan of the movie Anyway, I just finished watching the second disk last night and I think so far that it's outdoing season 1 in spades (which is great news since I LOOOOVEEEE S.1). I'm kinda hesitant to watch re-runs on TV because there's a lot of storylines and plots that are confusing to me. FOr example... I have no clue what the hell is going on in Season 4 and 5. I've seen scattered episodes, but I can't piece any of them together... so I'm looking forward to spend $300 or so on catching up!
