The Iron Sheik had Classy Freddie Blassie in his corner and Backlund had WWE Hall of Famer Arnold Skaaland in his corner. Backlund came into the Garden with an injured back, and the Iron Sheik knew it. The native of Iran locked in his patented Camel Clutch as Backland grimaced in unbearable pain. Backlund would not give up, but Skaaland would as he threw a white towel into the ring, prompting the referee to call for the bell. He awarded the match to the Iron Sheik via submission.
