Mik Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 It came out today. Picked it up on iTunes with the exclusive track Tonight. It's double disc, and I'm not sure how the rest of the album is going to play out. But through nearly the entire first disc, I have to say that it's his strongest album since Gold. In fact, to this point I've enjoyed every song on the first listen. I'm writing a paper as I listen to it, and 90% of the time I zone the music out while I do it, but multiple times the music was so good I just had to stop and listen. It's much more like old Ryan Adams, I think. Anybody else hear it yet?
Anorak Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 I'd just about given up on him in the last year or two. If it's as good as Heartbreaker or Whiskeytown's best then i'd definately want it.
Mik Posted May 3, 2005 Author Report Posted May 3, 2005 Well I got through it all once. Thumps up at this point. Gotta run into campus, so that will give me some time to listen to it on the iPod. I'm really liking it.
Matt Young Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 Bumping for Kotz, along with the fact that I want to see if anyone else thinks the album is as great as he does.
Modern Man's Hustle Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Definitely a return to Whiskeytown form, which is a welcome turn. The only complaint I have is that a lot of the songs could have easily been cut and been released as one completely mind-blowing CD, instead of two good ones.
Anorak Posted May 22, 2005 Report Posted May 22, 2005 That's true of 95% of double albums. I've not heard the new Eels album but it sounds like a similar case from what i've read.
