Google Accused of Liberal Bias After Refusing Conservative Ads

ATLANTA, May 4, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The world's most popular search engine just lost points with Political Conservatives by turning down ads placed by RightMarch.com.  William Greene is founder of the firebrand conservative web site that dispatches millions of emails to its grassroots base. His organization has published full page ads in national newspapers supporting US conservative politicians Don Rumsfeldt, Tom DeLay and John Bolton.

But just as RightMarch.com attempted to launch a new wave of ad buys with Google.com, much to their amazement, Google refused the paid ad.  Greene took an existing anti-DeLay ad and changed the name "Tom DeLay" to "Nancy Pelosi" (a left-leaning Democrat) yet Google refused the anti-Pelosi ad and continues to run the anti-DeLay ads.

Greene said, "Simply put, Google is censoring conservative search ad results. Nancy Pelosi violated ethics rules far worse than what DeLay is accused of. All we did was to take a liberal ad and make it conservative. Isn't turnabout fair play?"

The official reason Google cited for refusing the ad was: "Google policy does not permit ad text that advocates against an individual, group or organization."

The question remains, said Greene, "If Google allows ads advocating against Tom DeLay, does this mean that Google does not recognize Tom DeLay as being a human being?"

Thanks to Instapundit for the link. Seems a little odd that they would refuse a verbatim transcript of an ad that they've already approved, no?

I hope Google isn't becoming politicized.

...And, while the employees gave overwhelmingly to the Dems (98% of their money went to them), the owners have never made political donations to date...

It'd be beneficial for a SEARCH ENGINE to not have political bias.

Kinda makes them less trustworthy.

-=Mike

...I'd also like to hear a justification for anti-Delay ads, given their statements about the Pelosi ads...

Don't worry, it'll still find all the porn you'll ever need without silly things like politics and ethics and ads...

The tom delay one isn't coming up anymore. Anychance that MAYBE they didn't notice before and it was brought to their attention.

Ahh, I get how Google gets around their ad policy with DeLay and not Nancy.

They don't think Tom is human...

Well, she is the only woman who can be condemned as giving a hate speech by a college President who did not attend the speech nor did he read a transcript.

Yeah, but accusing her of giving a hate speech is like accusing Jesse Jackson of trying to get money out of a situation. You don't have to be there or hear to know what they did.

Well, in this case, the only people who claimed she was giving a "hate speech" were the same person unleashing some insults.

So what you're saying is that all of those people sound alike to you?

My friend said she had a Jewish friend see Ann Coulter speak, and Ann insulted the Jews, and the Jewish girl cried.

Her family probably survived WWII while living in Germany and she cries over an Ann comment? Yeesh...

Seeing as how I've never read Ann insult Jews ever --- I don't buy that for a second.

...If she made a Muslim cry, I might buy that...

Maybe they had an Ann Coulter impersonator--think Beatlemania: not really her, but an incredible simulation--and the girl didn't know it

I mean, honestly, Ann has never, ever insulted the Jews that I've seen. And I've read a lot of her stuff.

Do I really NEED to trust Google?

If you expect impartial search results --- yup.

I don't remember Ann ever insulting Jewish people, but I do remember he writing that liberals blame 9/11 and the Iraq War on "oily Jews".

Actually, she said they blame it on neocons --- which is code for "dirty Jews".

Not oily.

Well, this is from her 10/20/04 column:

There's no consensus position, but the Democrats are pretty sure the real reason we went to Iraq was one of the following:

- Bush family's connections to the Saudis,

- Halliburton,

- the Carlyle Group,

- something about the Texas Rangers needing more left-handed pitching,

- the neoconservatives,

- the Straussians,

- oil,

- the Jews,

- oily Jews.
