Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted May 7, 2005 Thanks to Juan Dealba for he following: "I went this evening to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and there was a new edition of Lucha Magazine and the headline was "Guess who is going to WWE?" so I started to read the magazine and it turn out to be Essa Rios (Mr. Aguila). Just to let you know." It's been rumored that both Essa Rios and Juventud Guerrera are possibly coming to WWE. With the rumors of these two being brought in along with Psicosis and Super Crazy, it appears that WWE is making a bigger commitment to the Cruiserweight division, which can only be viewed as a positive. It was sd and the whole roster was in the ring basically. Kurt was accused and he was like hey what about essa? his reaction face was priceless/
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2005 I liked Essa. I imagine he'll get a small push to come back with, then just be another Velocity job boy
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2005 I thought Meltz already said these guys were being signed for the spanish specific program they were starting soon? And aren't Velocity and Heat dead soon as the SpikeTV contract runs out anyway?
Carnival 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2005 I didn't know of any spanish only program. I thought they were getting RAW broadcast on Telemundo with this new deal, thats all i heard.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2005 I saw Angle wrestle Essa Rios live for a Sunday Night heat match although it was a non-title match. Maybe they should bring him back as Papi Chulo...
Silence 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 I hope Essa does better than the last time I saw him in TNA last year (Not the same as he used to be in the ring).
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 I thought that Essa Rios worked really soft at WrestleMania 14 (his kicks were weak and the execution was just third-rate compared to what Nitro's cruisers were pumping out). So my first look at him made me dissapointed. However, as Essa Rios and his LHW Title run, I thought he was pretty good. He wasn't super, but for the WWF, which always was never associated with high-flying cruiser-types, he was good. I remember liking Essa/Eddie and enjoying the Essa breakup when he moonsaulted Lita. Plus he had a few other good matches in there. In NWA-TNA, I found him to be sloppy and slower. I just wasn't entertained. Who knows, though. I saw one of Mysterio's first WWE matches in Atlantic City (Smackdown! TV Taping dark match, the one where Rock returns with Busta Rhymes, Cena/Taker V. Jericho/Angle main event). Mysterio wrestled Funaki and I found Rey to be unexciting. And look at the awesome stuff he pumped out just weeks later. Maybe Rios' work in TNA was seen as poor (in my opinion) due to his opponents being green, unfamiliar, or not able to keep up with him. I say sign the guy for a few appearences and see how he does. Couldn't hurt.
Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 With the new deal Velocity is canceled and replaced with an exclusive Telemundo show. So not only will the cruisers continue to not get pushed on SD, now they'll be on a fucking Spanish language station that I don't even get! Awesome!
haws bah gawd 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2005 Who could forget Essa Rios' assless chaps from his TNA appearances? *shudder* He had a few good maneuvers during his last run though. Not to mention his moonsault was fucking sweet, and he got insane air on it.

I seem to remember Vince needed to have an excuse for why he was where he was at the time (I think it may have been when it seemed like he was cheating on Linda with one of the "Alliance" Divas, or something). And it'd be nice to see Essa back but I don't have much hope of him being used well. it appears that WWE is making a bigger commitment to the Cruiserweight division, LOL

Guest Redhawk Report post Posted May 10, 2005 If Juventud comes back, there's a money feud with Chris Jericho right there. Remember how during the Alliance era, The Rock was always clowning Jericho about "getting your monkey ass whupped by a jabroni named Juventud"? Now Jericho would have a chance to kill any speculation that Juventud is better than him.
