Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Day by day grades for E3 Raw is E3 (Pre E3, Monday): Following Raw I find out all the main things about PS3. Information is revealed about major games such as GTA 4 (disappointingly won't be available for the launch of PS3, even though it is doubtful a quality version could be created in time for the launch), Final Fantasy XII, Killzone, Gran Turismo 5. A+ for a pre E3 day. Smackdown Spoilers E3: In the morning the Nintendo system was revealed, huge disappointment by Nintendo with a wimpy looking unattractive little system that is only "2 to 3 times more powerful than Gamecube". After that nothing of note was revealed (though not sure when exactly Zelda was revealed to E3). C- Nothing of note Wednesday E3: Terrible day. Barely any information is revealed about Metal Gear Solid 4. Information about Starcraft Ghost which not many people care about because they rather have Starcraft 2. Nothing else of note. D- Smackdown/Apprentice finale E3: Nothing of note. F Lets see what lets go out because its Friday E3 brings us

Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted May 20, 2005 How come?
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 How come? Decent idea, but poor execution. No real attempt at making a clever analogy or a good parody was present. It could have been used to draw better parallels if any real effort was made. Just the "SD = B-show = LOL" thing. You haphazardly inserted the phrase "nothing of note" like Christian using sleeperholds. And it just wasn't funny. Yeah, I like Nintendo, but I can poke fun at them too and laugh when it's appropriate/true. That was weak, though. Plus, you forgot X-Box. I know WWE only has 3 shows, but it would have been an even cheaper shot to compare Nintendo to NWA-TNA.
Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted May 20, 2005 I forgot about Godfather and Bully for Xbox, not sure when they were mentioned but they bring up the E3 grade report a bit. Bully though from the 1 screen I viewed of it on xbox.ign.com looks very San Andreas in graphics and that is not a good thing, but it is probably what has to be done with the limited hardware of the made in 2001 Xbox. I wasn't deliberately trying to be very funny, I just threw out that Monday was Raw because right after Raw I saw all this video game info all of a sudden on ps2.ign.com. Tuesday is Smackdown spoilers to keep with continuity. Wednesday is nothing of note because there is nothing of note for wrestling (and TV shows) on Wednesday. At least no TV shows I watch are on Wednesday. Thursday is Smackdown/Apprentice finale, Friday is lets go out and party! day. I pointed the Friday thing out to poke at what people are talking about in the oh no UPN is moving Smackdowns to Friday thread. Yeah it does kind of suck they are moving Smackdown to Friday though. Anyhow what could be used instead of the phrase "nothing of note" that is equally as effective in saying when nothing special happens? I'm not really thinking about this one now so if you can come up with something I would like to hear it. I loved Nintendo when I had the SNES. N64 disappointed me big time. Mario 64 was great, Ocarina of Time was very good though a little disappionting with the murky graphics and the NO enemies on the huge main map (well one or two). The final 2 years or so Nintendo had like no must buy games, and I really wanted to have Final Fantasy 7 + 8 so I got rid of N64 for PS1. Gamecube is also disappointing with no Mario 128 and real Donky Kong game like the Donky Kong games of old for SNES. I might get it eventually to play Wind Walker and the new Zelda. The point is I like Nintendo's must buy games but Nintendo has been disappointing. Oh and I didn't mean to make an analogy that Smackdown is a B show because Smackdown got a poor grade that day. Though Smackdown being a B show jokes are funny though. It will be funny if WWE is serious about the Raw vs Smackdown "feud" after Smackdown is moved to Friday. Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted May 20, 2005 The Nintendo system might look good/better in a different color than what I saw earlier this week, in fact I heard that different colors were shown, but I haven't seen them yet. But from what I saw it didn't look attractive. Being "2 to 3 times more powerful" is not a selling point though that power may be enough to develop games for the next 5 years or so on Revolution. Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted May 20, 2005 After seeing a new picture on that website listed on the other thread (and it is of the original black one), I think the new system looks much better. Question: Are these 3 systems 128 bit, 256 bit, or other?
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 The different colors still don't make the system attractive in looks. Anyhow are these 3 systems 128 bit, 256 bit, or other? "Bits" are archaic for measuring modern systems' power; it doesn't really matter. PS2 uses a 128 bit CPU, for instance. Dreamcast uses a 32-bit CPU. The processing power of a central CPU is only one piece of the puzzle. Spec sheets for GC and X-Box don't even bother measuring the CPU in "bits." I'm sure a programmer could explain it better than me, though.
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Is XBox the only system not offering their next-gen console in a selection of different colours for launch? I have only seen shots of the white XBox 360.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 UYI: You missed "Pimp my X-Box?" Okay, that's just the face plates, but considering that MS have offered different versions of the X-Box themselves, you'll likely see special versoins. Plus, there's always relatively-cheap skins to purchase.
Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Why did they always point out the bits of every system until the PS2, Gamecube, Xbox era?
Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Because in the past, the power of a machine was a particular selling point and of interest to the gaming community. Console gaming is a very, very new concept, and has only recenly began to fully mature. I believe it was Jobber who said that all we have now to worry about is lighting, as machines these days are powerful enough to produce just about anything. Back in the days of the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, this was not the case. It worked more in Sega's favour at the beginning of the ultra-heated 16-bit war when the Megadrive exploded onto the scene before the SNES, as it was 'twice the power of the NES'.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Yup. With 2D, the processing power of the central CPUs were easily measured, but with 3D, it gets much trickier. For instance, the Jaguar had four 16-bit CPUs. If you "do the math" it was 64 bits. However, the Saturn had two 32-bit processors. So, was Atari lying about the Jaguar? Yeah, somewhat. Interestingly, the SNES, while using a 16-bit CPU, has a max processing speed of less than half of the Genesis'. The SNES can display 4x the colors, has a superior sound chip--and, well, even with the 16-bitters specs can be misleading.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted May 20, 2005 And that was no exagerration, either. Now, consoles are just about reaching the apex of where they can go without becoming PCs (and even that's still up in the air, it seems)
Eclipse 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 You like the GC/N64 stick over the PS2 sticks? Are you drunk? I like the GCN stick WAY BETTER than the PS2 sticks. They feel jerky and unresponsive. Use Your Illusion 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 I actually took Mario Kart 64 for a spin the other day and my Nintendo analog stick was stiff as all hell. Time is not kind to those things. Matt Young 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 My report on day 2 of E3 may be short because I am tired and there wasn't a whole lot that I saw or took part in since I spent a fair amount of time standing in lines. I still had a wonderful day, but it probably wouldn't translate into quality reading material since most of you probably want to hear about the games. When I got in the door a little after 10 AM, Adam Sessler and my beloved Morgan Webb were signing autographs in the newly set up G4 booth on my left. Now, I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with Morgan Webb. I do have a picture from her Maxim spread as my computer background, but I'm not like that dude in the X-Play commercial. I have no Morgan shrine. I do, however, find her to be ridiculously beautiful and I want to marry her and make lots of babies, provided that pregnancy does not completely tarnish her stunning figure. *Sighs longingly* Back to the story... I was informed by a G4 employee that the autograph line was cut off due to them not being able to fit in anymore people in the 1 hour time frame. That made me sad. However, Morgan and Adam will be signing tomorrow, so I'll make sure to get in line early. I did get a picture from the side of the table, though, and it looks very good. From there, I went up the Zelda steps into whatever the hell that huge central area is called. I roamed around a bit and checked out the few new additions such as the Chronicles of Narnia exhibit which featured beatiful artwork and costumes used in the movie. I played a small portion of the Narnia game, but I couldn't figure out how to beat the boss I was fighting and I gave up. Next to that display was a HUGE model of Jack from The Nightmare Before Christmas, so of course I had to snap a shot of that one. There was also a cool looking display for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 3, and I photographed that along with the dude decked out in soldier gear "guarding" the front. I walked around some and took a few more pictures of random displays and booth babes, as well as some cool Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children action figures for Anya. I went to the Casino-styled booth for the game "Colors", and while the booth babes had to leave to go on stage, I did snag a free t-shirt. I then had an over-excited Japanese man take a picture of me with Spongebob Squarepants, which totally rocked. WWE Diva Stacy Keibler was set to sign autographs at noon. I was more intered in meeting fellow WWE star Edge, of whom I've been a fan since he was wrestling as Sexton Hardcastle in the Canadian independents. I got in line, and I ended up meeting Stacy. They were rushing people through the line, so everyone got a simple, "Hello/Thank you" and an autographed photo. Whatever. I got in line for Edge, around 12:30, half an hour before he was set to sign. I spent a while talking about wrestling and Star Wars: Episode III with some folks from Boston before an usher informed us that, due to her arriving late and Edge not showing up yet, Stacy would pose for quick pictures with people. Of course, I had to get one of those. After the photo-op, I circled the THQ booth in order to reclaim my place in line to meet Adam Copeland, AKA Edge. On the way back, I heard a familiar voice behind me. I turned around... and there was Edge with a couple escorts! I greeted him and he responded, and I walked down the hallway next to him, although he was talking over something with his guys. Once I got in there and got to shake Edge's hand, he was very friendly. A true class act toward the fans, regardless of his treatment of his friends. I got to shake the hand that fingered Lita. Now I've got herpes. Thanks, Adam. Just kidding. He signed and personalized my copy of his autobiography and threw in a signed photo on top of that. We posed for a pic, and I look like crap because my eyes were closed. The reason why is because Edge made me laugh. Here's how it went down: Edge: "You know, now I can tell all the boys on Monday that I got to meet a TV star at E3." Me: "What do you mean?" Edge: "Hasn't anyone ever told you that you bear a striking resemblance to Bud Bundy?" So I guess that makes it official, since Edge said it. I do look like Bud Bundy from Married With Children. After meeting Edge, I headed outside to make my daily E3 report call to my cousin and have myself a smoke. A black guy asked me for a cigarette, and when I went to hand him a Newport, he remarked, "Aww shit, man! Newports! Man, what you white folks know about Newports?!" I get that a lot from black guys. I don't know why they're so surprised in my choice of tobacco products, but at least they share my good taste. I headed back inside and explored Microsoft's booth some more, and I played a couple games of NBA and NCAA Basketball 2K6, winning both. Afterwards, while perusing Capcom's booth, waiting to try out Killer 7, a countdown clock next to some zombies caught my eye. When it reached zero, a video for the upcoming title Dead Rising aired. That game looks awesome! It started out seeming like another Resident Evil clone, but the main character engaged in combat with massive hordes of zombies inside a store, and had tons of creative methods with which to dispose of them. He utilized a head splattering bulldog (the wrestling maneuver, not the animal), a chainsaw, tossed a mannequine, and even ran over zombies with a lawnmower! I am so buying that game. Following that, I decided to go check out Nintendo's booth, but on the way there, I stopped by the Ziff Davis/1UP.com area. I never made it to the big N's booth after that. I was greeted by a gorgeous blonde girl named Amber, who just happened to be a member of the PMS clan for Halo 2. I, on the other hand, am a new member of KSI, PMS' arch rivals. I could care less about some stupid rivalry, so I talked with Amber on a variety of subjects and posed for a couple pics. She's a wonderful girl- beautiful, intelligent, sophisticated, and apparently damn good at video games. Her husband's a lucky guy. Amber introduced me to paul Gale, 1UP.com message board moderator, and he was really cool. Very nice guy. Around 4:30, the 1Up.com Members Only party started in their booth. They handed out free smoothies and cake. The cake was delicious, and had the 1UP logo on it, and I got a few shots. I was also in the picture of the cake taken by the site, and I had a segment filmed for possible inclusion on 1UP.com, asking what I liked best about the site. I had to bail out around 5:00 to catch the Metrolink, so I was unable to try out those Nintendo games. The only ones left that I still need to check out are Killer 7, Mario Baseball, Mario Super Strike (Soccer), and of course, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, one of my most anticipated games ever. It's just that the wait time in line is often 2 hours, and I had spent enough time in line already. I'll play it tomorrow, and get the free game logo t-shirt that Nintendo gives out to those who play. Between that and trying to meet the X-Play hosts, I'll be spending a few hours in line, it seems. Overall, not much game playing, but still a wonderful day by far. So wonderful, in fact, that this writing which I had intended to be brief ended up probably being longer than my day 1 post. Picture update- I took 38 more pictures for a total of 86, but neither of the computers at my house will recognize the digital camera I borrowed from my friend Lisa. I transfered my images from the capture card onto her computer, and she's supposedly uploding them to Yahoo Photos for me tonight, but they're not ready yet and I'm headed for bed. I will post them tomorrow, I can 99% guarantee you. At the latest, there might be a huge post of all 3 days' pictures this weekend. Well folks, that's all for day 2 of E3. It's 12:30 AM and I have to be up in 6 hours. I'll be back tomorrow with coverage of my experience at the final day of E3.

Jobber of the Week 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 clan for Halo 2. You do Halo 2 clan play? Poor, unfortunate soul. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 If I gave a damn about Halo or PC gaming in general, I might have something to say about the above post. But I don't, so I'll just say "extremely off-topic" and leave it at that. The only problem I had with the N64 stick was that it, like the rest of the N64 controller, felt too cheap and was too prone to being broken. Dual Shocks' is okay, and the GC one is fine. "You got verbally pwned by Edge. I TOLD you that you should reached for the shoot comments before he could." Because I'm sure being an utter prick to a wrestler using your OMGINSIDERKONWLEDGE is just the thing a smark should do to show how WWE is wrong about how they perceive smarks. Matt Young 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2005 Nah, I didn't see him. I did see and photograph an even bigger Nintendo employee today, however. Details will be in my (probably brief) report. Sorry for not being too informative, but I didn't play most of the games for long enough to provide any decent information. If you have any questions, I will try to answer them as well as possible. I'll be writing up my Day 3 report after I eat, but today was fairly uneventful, although there was one big thing that I saw. Also, I now have the pictures in my e-mail, so I'll be uploading them to my Yahoo Photos account for you guys.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2005 Oh, we have a game list for the Capcom Classics collection: E3 2005: Capcom Classics Collection Announced Posted By Tom Pandich on 05.19.2005 Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy! Capcom. The name has a lot of history behind it. Capcom has been behind some of the biggest games in history. You know this though, so lets move into what's contained in this massive 22 game collection for the PS2 and the XBox. - 1942 - 1943 - 1943 Kai - Bionic Commando - Commando - Exed Eyes - Final Fight - Forgotten Worlds - Ghosts 'n Goblins - Ghouls 'n Ghosts - Gun.Smoke - Hige Maru - Legendary Wings - Mercs - Section Z - SonSon - Street Fighter II - Street Fighter II: Champion Edition - Street Fighter II: Turbo - Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts - Trojan - Vulgus Quite a few awesome, awesome titles in there. It'll be out later this year. (Source: Magic Box) I suspect we may see some slight changes for the US version, like SonSon. But since that character was in MvC2, maybe they'll leave it intact. Definitely worth the cash though. Bionic Commando, the first 3 SFs (glad I sold my Street Fighter Collection 2), all of the Ghouls/Ghosts, Final Fight, the 1940's, etc. = buy!
