Matt Young Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 Back in September, I started a thread about the original Donkey Konga which got about 7 responses. Hopefully this one will be more successful. I loved the first DK, and despite songs that seemed, well, gay, the game was highly addicting, especially with multiple players. This newest version has a more "contemporary" (I.E. MTV-centric) song selection, and although I haven't played enough to tell if it's better than the first, it is really good and was well worth using my Wal-Mart gift card on. Plus I got an extra set of bongos, which increases the fun factor exponentially since I don't have to take turns with my friends. Has anyone else picked the game up yet?

Matt Young Posted May 17, 2005 Author Report Posted May 17, 2005 Nope... They are covers, just like in the first game. Not even Good Charlotte's songs are the originals, which surprised me since they're in the commercial.

The reason I wanna play it is because it's different songs, different beats, different challenges. Konga 1 got boring already. NEED NEW SONGS.
Matt Young Posted May 17, 2005 Author Report Posted May 17, 2005 Exactly. Some of the songs that were the most fun to play in Konga 1 were songs that I saw on the list and thought to myself, "Fuck this shit." You don't have to enjoy the song to have fun drumming along to it.

Unfortunately, I would never buy a Gamecube just for one game, especially a music game. It makes me want to go find Taiko Drum Master for PS2. Anybody played that game?

I'd like it more than Donkey Konga if the drum was more accurate.

Positively Kanyon Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 I've got Donkey Konga, but I find myself less and less interested in it since Jungle Beat came out... That game is bloody addictive!! Might give this one a rental and see if it offers more than the original...
