Cherry Blossom Viscount 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Sigh, I remember when everyone and their mother was clamoring for Kurt Angle to become more serious and vicious, crying and screaming for him to shed his hilarious, but seemingly "midcard" dork-lite gimmick, which, got him over in the first place I might add. Anywhoodles, now, about five years later, we are witnessing the results of a more serious Kurt Angle; he rapes black women, or at least the ones that happen to be married to his arch nemesis. What happened? The good thing about "Classic Kurt," was despite his dorky demeanor, he cleaned up in the ring. He didn't have to go around screaming. "I'll break your ankle!" sounding as forced as a constipated crap. I want the old Kurt back, but alas, that shall never be as is character has been changed too much to revert back to those days. I think the high point of Classic Kurt was that video he made of his "interview" with the Rock. Hilarious stuff, stuff that we shall never see from Kurt again. By the way, does anyone have this video available for download?

TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 We could very easily see it again. All it takes is a few months absense.. a face return and go from there.
Enigma 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 Kurt was awesome back then. Kurt made that hilarious "interview" with The Rock then backed it up by beating his ass for the WWF Title.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 I wonder what Anglesault thinks of this sudden change of character. Honestly. I really do wonder.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 I refuse to watch Smackdown while this shit's going on. Kurt's frozen in my mind as the badass face who beat Brock's ass at Vengeance and Summerslam. I don't want to hear about how he wants to fuck Booker T's loud bitchy wife or any of this other crap. I did see a little of the evil GM stuff, but I managed to clear most of it out of my mind. Jericholic82 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2005 I wonder what Anglesault thinks of this sudden change of character. Honestly. I really do wonder. You see, I told you they shouldn't have banned him. He would have had a new thread up ripping WWE a new one for this new character. I personally miss the Kurt from June-Octoberish 2001
Guest news_gimmick Report post Posted May 20, 2005 I personally miss the Kurt from June-Octoberish 2001 And during that period of time he was both a heel and face, so which type of character did you prefer?
Guest Brian Report post Posted May 20, 2005 How does having a serious character correlate with raping people? The weakness is in the writing, like always.

Mostly when he was with Austin and Mcmahon as sorta a tweener and during the invasion as a face.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2005 The best stuff in Angle's career is still he screwing around with Austin and McMahon. Wearing the silly cowboy hat, singing Jimmy Crack Corn...it was gold. I always thought the Angle/Brock stuff was centered more on Brock really. As in it was Brock who tapped, Brock beat up a crippled kid, etc. Angle just happened to be the guy who made him tap, could have been anyone really.
Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2005 Kurt should have been walking around for the past 2 months talking about how he made HBK tap at Wrestlemania.
Guest Brian Report post Posted May 21, 2005 I'd like to see a character so self-absorbed that even when he loses, he just keeps on talking as if he won the match. Completely delusional. They should call it a Hogan-complex. Anyways, I think Kurt would be perfect for this. Perfect blend of comedy and with a serious undertone, as long as they don't get too cute with it. With the dumb expression on Kurts face and the way he tries to impose anger, I can never take him seriously. Hes a comedy promoer and a serious wrestler. Versatile but permantely shafted. The should still go with this funny happy go lucky Kurt and a mat wrestler in the ring. Yes, the focus was on Brock. Way way on Brock at Summerslam. He should have made a T-Shirt: I won, the Icon lost. The next week: I beat the Showstopper. Then the week after: I made the Main Event Tap . . . and HBK comments about them on RAW. Imagine Angle, no i didnt lose the title after tapping. Give it back its mine. This aint fair.
Angle-plex 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2005 Kurt turning into superman in his 2001 feud with Austin really killed him. His sudden character switch from dorky guy who can wrestle good yet still can't pull out a win without cheating to serious, passionate babyface was ridiculous, and then when he turned back heel it was already too late. He really hasn't been booked properly since mid-2001 by my count.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 22, 2005 Maybe it's just because I was such a mark for Kurt, but I loved his character in 2002 and early 2003. Even though he was still presented as being a little goofy, and heels never won clean then, (at least until Brock came in,) there he was beating HHH, making Hogan tap clean, getting the best of Edge whenever it really mattered, winning the title from the Big Show, then coming back as a tweener and pinning Brock clean with the Angle Slam. His character was far from being boring or unbelievable, and he could still be funny sometimes, but he had that credibility of being one of the absolute biggest badasses on the roster when he got between the ropes. I don't mind the serious Angle that stands on the middle rope to cut a great promo on the Big Show. The bullshit they're doing now though is raping Angle's character to the point where his only hope is that he'll get drafted to Raw, and they can write ths off like Katie Vick.
