nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 Yesterday marked the final game of last year's Stanley Cup, so today marks one full year without NHL hockey. Let's celebrate by sharing stories of when we were most pissed/sad/depressed/whatever about there not being a season. Mine was just about a month ago. I've been watching old games on tape on nights when there's nothing else to watch on TV. For the most part I have pretty good games on tape, so it's been a good way to kill 3 hours. But then one Saturday night when I was too sick to go out, I popped in a random game to watch: it ended up being Philly vs. Toronto, from about 3/4 years ago. And the game sucked, Philly won 6-1, and even with the horribly lopsided score there weren't any fisticuffs or action. So I watched my least favorite team win a game with ease and didn't even get to enjoy the slaughter-fight. Fuck Bettman. Fuck Goodenow.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 Watching classic NHL on TSN this November on my break from work. Marking out over the players I grew up watching. Game 1 of the 1994 Western Quarters, Calgary vs Vancouver. Watching Bure, Mclean, Linden, The Courtnalls, Babych, Niuewendyk. Oh man, I loved it.
smh810 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 The biggest moment came for me last night when the Lightning held a celebration of the 1-year anniversary of the win at the Forum. They replayed Game 7 on one of the local stations here and watching that game again nearly brought tears to my eyes. I still dont know how Khabby made that save on Jordan Leopold with 5:00 to go. Over the past year with all the bullshit thats happened I've forgotten how much I love the game, but after last night (granted it'll be harder for most than it is for me) I'm willing to forgive and welcome hockey back with open arms. the max 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 Classic Florida Panthers on FSN until baseball season started. They played the 03 All-Star game (the one that was in Florida), which was one hell of a good game. They also played a crappy game that Pavel Bure got his 400th goal in. Other than that, I've been pining for hockey.

Prophet of Mike Zagurski 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 I have a question, why does the NHL and NBA have the playoffs at the same time? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anything that doesn't make sense in the NHL is Gary Bettman's fault.

Just kidding, this does have a lot to do with Bettman. Because the playoffs go to damn long since there's too many teams. Thanksgiving to May 2-4 is ideal for the NHL. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2005 This doesn't really fit into this thread, but since hockey threads sink like anvils on TSM I figured I'd merge it into this one ... Cam Fucking Neely's finally made it into the HHOF. I don't know who else got the nod, but it's about damn time that the greatest "power forward" in NHL history got elected. Hopefully there's a season this year, since I had to cancel my "trip to TO to see Bourque go in/see the B's play the Leafs" vacation. Seeing Neely go in would almost make up for not seeing Bourque. Red Baron 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 It probably hit me about two months ago when there were no hockey playoffs on, when the World Championships was going on
