Nintendo DS likely to be bundled with Mario 64

Recommended Posts

An EB Games June flyer has potentially revealed that the Nintendo DS will be sold with Super Mario 64 DS with no increase in price. This promotion is supposed to start June 12th, but it has not been confirmed yet, and is still just a rumor. An incredibly likely rumor, but a rumor none the less. We'll keep you posted.

Great news here. I've played the shit out of SM64 on the N64, but I'd love to play through it again. After the DS stole the show at E3 in my opinion, I've been dying to get one of my own, and the new electric blue color along with a free game only serves to sweeten the deal.

That's great news. I've been looking for an excuse to get one as well, 'cause Kirby: Canvas Curse comes out next week and I need to play that. I simply have to.

I'm indifferent about it, because I have serious doubts about its playability without an analog stick, and I own the N64 version already.

(<--- future DS owner, waiting for all the awesome games he's reading about to finally friggin' come out.)

I have a DS

first game I bought was Mario DS. It's amazing. Great Game.

Awesome that not only did I have to buy a game to get the DS but one of it's awful accessories (battery pack, touch screen pens, , power adapter)....

and now you can get the only game worth really playing for free, without having to buy one of it's stupid add ons.

As much as Microsoft and Sony might be indifferent towards it's video game crowd, Nintendo realizes the whole market, and shits on them to create a smile.

As one person who actually wanted the DS over the PSP, waited in line for it, hunted it down, and agreed to the awful store rules...this is a total slap in the face.

I feel like a chump.

If DS put out a decent game other than Mario DS (and one major point to add, is that I never bought Mario 64 on my N64, because I didnt like "that type of game") in the time that this deal hit, I wouldn't feel bad, HOWEVER, when Nintendo realizes that it has one semi decent game for a system and the only way to make it sell is to release it for free...people like me that wanted it feel cheated, and thus feel a little annoyed with their whole system.

If it had even a small library of decent games that I'd be able to play before everyone grabbed onto this deal, I wouldn't care. But this?....

Just makes me happier I'll buy a PS3 and XBOX360 over a Revolution.

That's what you get for trying to buy a system at launch.

Well, the addition of the game should continue to de-value the used original DS systems on eBay, so bring it on then.

One thing I can count on Nintendo on, is to rebundle their consoles again and again with more software or twelve different color schemes, making the older ones depreciate.

I got a Nintendo DS, and Mario DS plays extremely well even without an analog stick. They added in a dash button and everything works good.

I don't get all those people saying there isn't enough good games on the DS. There are incredible games already out (Mario, Warioware, PacPix, Star Wars is a great surprise too) and the future games look incredible (Animal Crossing online, Metroid Prime Hunter, Nintendogs, and Miyamoto confirmed a DS exclusive Zelda game).

I love my DS.

"I feel like a chump."

You are a chump. You buy a system early that has *one* game at launch that you like. Then 6 months down the line that game is bundled with the system. This is Nintendo's fault how?

Downhome got his system around launch too, but he likes a lot of the titles that are out already.

Chances are you'll whine about Sony and Microsoft when they do a new promotion, too. And if you buy a PS3 at launch, I'd say there's a strong chance it will crap out on you.

Miyamoto confirmed a DS exclusive Zelda game

It's supposed to be in the vein of Four Swords, though. :(

Minus the thumb strap?

I use the thumbstrap for WarioWare and nothing else. The D-Pad works like a charm. I got used to the new control pattern after about 30 minutes.

Kapout's right. Using the directional pad is so much easier than the thumb strap. It's possible to use the touch screen, but really, the lack of feedback hurts your control quite a bit.

I went to a Sears store on Friday, and they were selling the DS with Mario 64 DS for $150.

Mario 64 DS is worth owning just for the mini-games. I've more than likely played the mini-games more than the actual game itself, and some of them really make great use of the touch screen. All of those mini-games could be a stand-alone game in my opinion. The Mario 64 portion is just about an add-on for me.

I've got a Best Buy $50 gift card, so I've considering hitting them when I'm at my nearest location and see if they're offering the deal.

Mario 64 was only pretty good back then and it certainly wouldn't sell me on DS now. DS needs to be packed in with a new Tekken or something. The new Castlevania is tempting. I just need something must have.
