Wrestling Events That...

Recommended Posts

Wrestling sites aren't spoiling things for you; you're spoiling them for yourself. Just don't go to news sites, or is that too difficult?

That doesn't stop other people from going and then informing you online. I understand your point but there are times where a person is spoiled without intending to be. I chat in a channel in IRC that has a newsbot and a lot of times Meltzer's headlines will pop up as "Meanie vs JBL on SmackDown" or "SmackDown Spoilers - 2 titles change hands". I hate it when he does things that are unavoidable like that.

That one is still your fault. If you go to a site, channel, chat room, or anywhere that you know posts wrestling news, then if you go there and they post a spoiler and you find out something you didn't want to, then you've only got yourself to blame. You know what the place is like before you go there, and you still went. If you don't want things to be spoiled for you, then don't go to somewhere you know could spoil things.

We have a no spoiling policy in that channel!

Your attitude that everyone who uses the internet to look or discuss any wrestling related information wants to be spoiled (or should know better because otherwise they will read spoilers) is the same logic that caused Meltzer to have to apologize for mentioning Benoit's name (re: draft lottery) out of the blue in his news updates.

Even if the channel has a no spoiler policy, going anywhere that posts wrestling news carries an inherent risk of having things spoiled for you, whether it's something big or not, and common sense should tell you that.

I never said anything close to saying that everyone who uses the internet to look or discuss about wrestling information wants things spoiled, so I don't know how you jumped to that conclusion. What I was saying is what I said above just now; going anywhere that posts wrestling news carries inherent risks, risks which common sense should tell you to be aware of. If someone doesn't want Smackdown spoiled, then they will avoid the appropriate threads, but if they still catch something in another thread that spoils it, then they are still somewhat to blame, because they still came on, knowing that things can still get spoiled.

Thats fine, I myself try to avoid spoilers but still come online and accept the risks, like this week when I inadvertanly found out about both the bwo and the hassan thing on these forums, but indeed it ws my own fault.

The point of this thread however, was to discuss things that even the net were surprised at and thus hadn't been revealed or talked about beforehand.

So can we go back to topic please?

I believe that one of The Rock's surprise appearances on Raw in 2003 wasn't spoiled by the Internet. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

HBK's heel turn *would* have been a great surprise for me as I avoid the internet on Tuesday as I'm bit torrenting Raw...

But when I was downloading the show a bastard friend of mine sent me a text saying "michaels as a heel! fucking ace!".

Bastard Bastard Bastard...

If I recall, the announcement of Goldberg's arrival to the WWE at WM 19 was a surprise.

If i remember right, a couple of weeks before Mania, the May 2003 WWE Magazine front cover was leaked out and posted online - with Goldberg on the cover. Some people may have thought it was a fake but It turned out not to be.

Two words: Kerwin White.

But seriously... WTF kind of gimmick is that?  Maybe that's one that should not have been spoiled, but not have happened at all.

I actually like the Kerwin White character. At least it gets Chavo some television time.

They need to do the White Boy Challenge, have Rodney Mack appear on RAW and say that Mack is trying to get a contract. Kerwin White accepts his challenge and he beats Mack. Mack doesn't get signed ofcourse. But it just would be hilarious

Yeah man, I've gotten messages on AIM that spoiled shit, even if I had an away message up. It's seriously unavoidable sometimes, especially with big shit.

It isn't that difficult. I avoided spoilers for three days back in April because a major snow storm caused me to miss Wrestlemania and I had to wait for the encore.

This past year was the first time since 1999 that I actually got to see the Royal Rumble live, yet I never had problems with getting them spoiled in that timeframe.

If AIM is causing problems, just don't go on AIM until after you've seen the show. I rarely get Smackdown spoilers (just for the draft picks and when I know I won't be able to see the show).

It's not a big deal to me, I'm just saying that on behalf of those who get pissed whenever they're spoiled. My reaction is usually the same as if I saw it live, so it doesn't matter to me.

Theres no question, even insiders who dislike Hogan will agree that the Hogan Heel turn at the Bash of the Beach is the biggest shcoker of modern wrestling times-there were speculations about him being the third guy, but no one knew for sure-that was a moment when wrestling began to take off..

Heenan knew..

:P

But that was well in Heenans character, he never liked Hogan and always said he was no good. But it was the only black spot on the excellent surprise.

Goldberg signing a WWE contact was announced at least a week prior to WM 19, with the Magazine cover being one of the major signs. People thought it was a fake but I was one of the few who correctly said it wasn't. (The argument was that the pic was from a wcw show, but as IO said Berg hadnt appeared at a wwe show yet so there would be no pic to use)

The problem was them showing the promo at Mania instead of just waiting for RAW for him to shockingly appear. Then of course they showed him walking backstage as he came out, again a stupid thing.

As for Kerwin White, I'm assuming the name Kerwin is used cuz of that guy who works for WWE named Kerwin Stifies or something like that, as I have never heard of another man named Kerwin in my life. You should check out wwe.com right now cuz they have a new promo from KW, where he rips off Chris Rock and says "It's all right, cuz it's all white"

Showing the promo at WrestleMania wasn't that bad of an idea. WWE operates under the seemingly correct formula that a certain percent of people watching WrestleMania are far from casual viewers. Showing the promo will make them tune in rather than come back a year later for the next show.

What I meant was that it wasn't a urprise when Goldberg actually dio show up the next night, so infact it was spoiled by WWE as well as the net. But I undersatdn why they did it, figuring it would make people watch RAW.

i just watched WM 18, i had not seen it in some time, so i want to add the interference from Anderson in the Taker-Flair match to the unspoiled events.

It worked great, he just came out of nowhere with the spinebuster.

Wasnt a bad idea, but it was a way to upset those punters who had paid a relatively large sum of money for a WM ticket.
