Reason for Velocity Improvement

Recommended Posts

In this week's Observer, there was a report that Court Bauer has been given the job of booking Velocity. Coincidence or not this recent change has seen Regal-Benoit last week (originally altogether an over 20:00 match but cut on TV) and this weeks show was well done with BWO, Christian v. Funaki, more Kazarian being put over, and MNM v. Doring/Roadkill in a much better than expected match for Velocity.

If this keeps up, I wont complain but it's almost a question if they should or not with TNA taking over the time down the road. If they start getting good ratings for it, TNA will have a higher expectation to reach, then again a better chance for TNA to get a good rating at the same time, if the Velocity show gets solid ratings by Oct and by default that same fanbase may keep tuned in for TNA when it starts. Bauer is actually adding significance to the show and lets hope it keeps up.

UFC is having a live show the first weekend of August as well, and it wouldnt be surprising to see Bauer being instructed to book a strong show that night also, thats just in a few weeks time.

I wonder if he gets things going on Velocity, if he'll be bumped up to SD once Velocity goes under.

I know that's a big "yeah right" more than likely, but still.

I'm more interested if Doring and Roadkill will becomes regulars on WWE television. Roadkill's Amish gimmick could probobly get over big if used correctly.

Well, last week Velocity outclassed SD and Raw. This week it wasn't better than SD, but I like the improvement.

And I dig Kazarian's music.

I can't believe they've actually hired someone to book Velocity.

Present me with 'x' number of names who aren't wrestling two hours before the show's to begin, and I could book Velocity.

That's a good point.

Its not like the guy really gets to pick who he wants on the show. He just gets to use people who won't be used on Smackdown.

This is very intresting turn of events...

Maybe he will move up to smackdown...

Velocity's gone when WWE moves back to USA Network.

That in itself might be why they are making a push to turn Velocity more into something substantial. There is a chance that if it starts getting respectable ratings before it leaves Spike that USA might decide they want to have Velocity on after all, thus keeping both Heat and Velocity on as the brand's B shows instead of just one show on the weekend.

Not to rain on the parade, but is there any indication he could book a show like Smackdown? Booking an hour of tv with no storylines that no one watches is probably a little easier than the main show. Telling Benoit and Regal to wrestle for twenty minutes isn't exactly rocket science.

Very true, but Id rather have somebody try to book a show that could turn out to be interesting than just drop it on the workers laps, which can turn out to be more hit than miss.

Maybe Court can convince them to do Steve Corino vs. Teddy Hart!

Is Steve Corino in anyway connected to the WWE? Teddys name has been thrown around.

On another note, Bauer didnt do a real good job of MLW and H2O, why Velocity then?

I thought MLW was generally a very well booked promotion by Bauer, lots of interesting feuds and a very ECW-esque feel for it. I think he just ran into, much like Heyman, actually knowing how to run the finances of the company properly. The other promotion I never saw so I can't comment - if I recall correctly, I dont think it ever really got off the ground.

Yes, your right. But he was accussed of recycling angles, with rejects from other companies (even worse than TNA). The major fued was that of the Extreme Horseman vs the washed-up legends.

No, it never did with Los Maximos or Teddy Hart or whoever.
