AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2005 Forgive me if this has already been posted, but I found this on DVDR and thought it to be quite possibly the coolest thing ever. Basically, the fellas at DVDR decided that since they already had the top matches of the 90's, they would put together a top matches of the 80's list too. How they do it, however, is way better than the last method used for the 90's (users sending in their top 20 lists). This time they are having posters nominate matches, 100 matches are chosen by the DVDR braintrust. Those matches are then recorded to DVD and sent out to voluntary posters who then proceed to watch ALL 100 MATCHES, before deciding on their own top 20. The votes are then tabulated and the list made. I was quite impressed. So far, here are the 100 matches nominated (with link to source): http://board.deathvalleydriver.com/index.php?showtopic=40899 Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage (3/29/87 Wrestlemania 3) Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage (4/2/89 Wrestlemania 5) Brainbusters vs. Hart Foundation (8/28/89 SummerSlam 89) Sgt. The price the voters pay is finding the time to watch 100 matches and then proceeding to rank the top twenty.
Guest Brian Report post Posted August 11, 2005 I almost got in on the gorund of this but decided I wouldn't have the time to go through with it. It's an awesome undertaking and being run really well. As for the 90's list, if they had done this, I think the Bret/Flair ironman match would have finished number one. If you look at the votes AND realize how well it did despite a lack of support (not because it wasn't excellent, mind you), you could tell that it could have done really well with the proper exposure. Fökai 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2005 Anyone else thinking of getting in on this? I'd have to devote about two weeks solely to these matches, but it should be pretty interesting throughout.

AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2005 I don't know if they are still sending out DVD's for WWF or not, but there is still plenty of time to get in on all the American regional goodness in the coming weeks.
