DangerousDamon 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 Dave Prazak went to the ring and announced that CM Punk vs. Colt Cabana will now be 2 out of 3 falls. Currently, James Gibson is talking in the ring, saying that he will not go to WWE with the ROH World title. Spanky just came out and told Gibson that he wanted a shot at the title. The 4 Corner Survival match will open the show. Nigel McGuinness won the 4 Corner Survival, also involving Alex Shelley, Matt Sydal and Delirious. Match Notes: The crowd chanted "F*ck You Shelley" apparrently after spitting in the face of Matt Sydal. Lots of comedy spots between Shelley and Delirious. Nigel pinned Delirious as Shelley and Sydal were brawling in the front row. Coming up next is a mohawked Chad Collyer vs. Chicago's own Ace Steel. Chad Collyer wins by knockout after hitting Ace Steel with a chair shot described as "Extremely Stiff." Ace was busted wide open. Ace hit a camera man by accident, and while the referee was tending to the cameraman, thats when Collyer gave Ace the chairshot. Next up is Generation Next's Austin Aries vs. "The Crown Jewel of The Embassy" Jimmy Rave, who got what was described as "a ton of streamers." Austin Aries pinned Jimmy Rave with a roll up, which was a reversal of a second rope Rave Clash. Post match beatdown on Aries. Strong and Sydal make the save. Next up is a tag team grudge match pitting Homicide and Low Ki vs. Samoa Joe and Jay Lethal in a rematch from Manhattan Mayhem. Samoa Joe and Jay Lethal d. The Rottweilers by DQ Joe and Ki traded some stiff shots at the beginning. Jay Lethal was in at one point for at least 15 minutes "gettin killed" by both Ki and Cide. Ryno says that the match is full of "crazy sh*t" and that they brawled all over the place. Low Ki jumped off the top of the bleachers (which were five rows up) and hit Lethal with a Ghetto Stomp (just got this clarified by Ryno). Chairs flying all over the place. They were hitting each other with fans shoes and were extremely stiff the entire match. Not clear on who won, but other reports say that Joe and Lethal won by DQ after Homicide attacked the referee. Ryno says that the tag match makes this show a "must buy." Intermission time. We are back from Intermission! Coming up next: Spanky and the NEW ROH World Champion James "By God" Gibson challenge BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs for the ROH Tag Team Titles. BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs retain over Spanky and James Gibson after Spanky turned on Gibson. Some highlights from the match included a double tope from Spanky and Gibson, Spanky hitting a reverse rana on BJ and Jimmy Jacobs breaking up the pinfall. The turn occured at the end of the match causing them to lose as opposed to after it. Up now: Matt Hardy vs. Roderick Strong. Roderick Strong beat Matt Hardy with a roll up. Not a great reaction for Matt Hardy, including chants of "Edge F*cked Lita" and "F*ck You Hardy". Crowd is totally behind Strong. Roderick Strong chopped the ringpost. (OUCH!) After the match, Matt Hardy cut a long promo, not sure on what yet. Happening now is our main event: CM Punk vs. Colt Cabana, 2/3 Falls. Colt Cabana d. CM Punk 2 falls to 1. Before the match, Punk got what Ryno describes as the "biggest streamer fest ever." Fall 1: CM Punk is up on Colt Cabana 1-0 after hitting a Colt 45. Samoa Joe and Ace Steel are both at ringside. Fall 2: Colt Cabana tied it up 1-1 after a lariat. Fall 3: Colt Cabana pins CM Punk with....a rollup! Punk did a farewell speech. They all had champagne glasses filled with Pepsi. Punk's parents also came out during the speech. Credit:ROH Message Board Sounds like Spanky's jealoous...
Guest xSarahx Report post Posted August 14, 2005 I am going to miss Punker. Sounds like he had a good send off with the Pepsi toast and all. Did Rave get a bunch of pink streamers?
Garth 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 Here's a link to some pictures from Punk's send off last night: http://www.girlsofhonor.com/punk/punk1.jpg http://www.girlsofhonor.com/punk/punk2.jpg http://www.girlsofhonor.com/punk/punk3.jpg http://www.girlsofhonor.com/punk/punk4.jpg http://www.girlsofhonor.com/punk/punk5.jpg Credit - Mary Kate from the ROH boards There's a whole lot of emotion there. I myself felt a little bit choked up seeing them, it's going to be really weird buying ROH releases and Punk not being a big part of it. I'm really glad Rodders beat Hardy, that in essence should really elevate him somewhat to legit upper mid-carder/main event if people didn't already view him in that capacity already. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2005 I'm only up to January 04 with my ROH viewing, but I'm definatly going to skip ahead on dvd buying and check out Punk's reign
Guest Biggles Report post Posted August 14, 2005 Looks like a great show. Glad to see they still went with Colt vs. Punk for the main Event even though it wasn't a Title match anymore. I'm kinda suprised that Colt won, but if Punk would go out like this it would be only to Colt. Low Ki and Jay Lethal are putting on a great fued. I hope it carries out a while 'cause they are very entertaining together.

JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2005 Was it his decision to start wearing those tights? I thought he just did it for his WWE matches. I am a fan of his character and his in-ring work, but he just doesn't look right wearing those little tights.

B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2005 What a great show in Chcago ridge Saturday night. The tag title match was great, especially HEEL SPANKY~!. Joe/Lethal vs. Ki/Cide was a fucking battle-and-a-half, includng the sickest double stomp EVER, and Joe throwing probably 30 or so chairs in the direction of the Rottweilers faces. The sendoff for Punk was truly an emotional experience, and the Pepsi toast topped everything off wonderfully. And poor Bj Whitmer just got dropped directly on his head all weekend, but dammit he was still nice enough to talk to me.
