Vince and Shane McMahon

Do you think with proper training, that Vince and Shane would be good in-ring competitors?

 

I think Shane would have made at most, a decent cruiserweight due to his insane bumping ability. Vince is a tough call, he has the build and the mic skills but in the ring, I don't know what he would have shown.

Well Vince and Shane have had a few matches. Vince knows how to bleed and how to wrestle as a heel. Shane does that annoying dance that makes you want to punch him in the mouth.

 

They could have been good wrestlers but not like Chris Benoit. I would not pay money to see them wrestle every month though. I can only take so much theater during their matches.

Vince's matches tend to have fun moments...at least his Mania ones anyway.

 

Like...Linda kicking him in the balls.

 

Or his Bloody, evil peer over the ring at Mania XIX.

Well, it'd be a totally different situation. The reason they do all the theatrics is to overcompensate for what they lack.

Shane would wind up breaking down very quickly. He so wanted to be accepted by the locker room that he did insane stuff to try and get their respect. With that mentality, Shane would wind up falling apart.

Another thing, Shane didn't have any sort of body to him. Despite having a string of wrestling matches in his career, he never appeared to get into shape for it.

 

He never worked an non spotfest match, with the exception of WMXV against X-Pac.

 

Shane was an excellent bumper but the fact he never got into an actual wrestling shape shows his dedication was really just to get "in" with the boys.

 

Vince's decision to wrestle was mainly for two reasons

 

1) Big Money was to be made

2) A wish fulfillment. He wanted to wrestle when he was younger but his father didn't allow it. Thus, why he bulked up so young so he could feel like one of the boys.

 

I don't think they would have had any success but it's all hindsight here.

Well, the thing is if Shane was a full-time worker, he'd probably change the way he was.

In today's WWE it seems like they will through (and do) anybody out there. Back then I think Shane may have been able to. I think he could have had the dedication and would of worked out more if it was the career he wanted to take.

 

I don't think Vince could of though. I also don't think he'd be willing to job, sell, and run around all the time in the ring.

I always thought Shane vs Angle at KOTR was a great match. Probably due to the drama rather than Shane's work rate. Shane could have been good enough to work a WWE style. Vince on the other hand has always looked akward in the ring.

 

Anyone remember the Vince vs Shane match on RAW in 99, when Vince was jumped by Shane and the corporate ministry before hand, then a roughed up Vince comes stumbling to the ring. Well anyways...the spinning pin by Vince after the stunner, that was hilarious, and horrible.

The one thing I notice about Vince everytime he shows up to wrestle....is that the man is so damn clumsy.

 

As for Shane, yeah he could do the insane spots to make up for his lack of ability...however theres a difference between doing that once in a blue moon as opposed to every day.

 

To answer the original question I dont think either could hack it as full time even with proper training.

Yeah...I don't think Vince would have been athetically coordinated enough to wrestle full time. Remember, this is the same guy that blew both his knees out getting into the ring at the Royal Rumble.

I HATE Shane as a wrestler.

 

It just seemed selfish to me for him to have a match, take a dumb bump, and then not work again for 6 months. Everyone talks about his spot while the other guys still have to wrestle a couple hundred more times that year.

 

If RVD had to work three times a year then you can bet he'd pull out some amazing tricks.

Shane Vs. Vince at WM17 was pretty damn entertaining, at least for a garbage match...

 

Shane has made matches Vs. Blackman and Test watchable and, as mentioned earlier, his match Vs. Angle was pretty damn good...not sure if he'd be able to give that kind of performance night in and night out, but who knows?

Vince looks so clumsy because he over-'medicated' with steroids and size enhancing drugs. I'd like to think he would have been smarter if he had any real inclination in being a full-time wrestler.

Shane vs. Angle was a bit sloppy but the excitement and spots in the match still made up for it. I loved it back then but haven't seen it since.

 

However, Shane McMahon is NOT a good wrestler and I'd actually put Vince's wrestling skill above his. Vince has some of the best facials in the business while Shane isn't all that charismatic.
