cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 After seeing Pitt tonight I see no reason why U of L shouldn't easily run away with the Big East. It blew my mind when they said Wannstedt wanted to have a power running game when he doesn't have one and DOES have a QB in Palko. And yeah Pitt did pick up this year where they left off....Utah beat the crap out of them in the Fiesta Bowl.
Angel_Grace_Blue 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Brandon sucks himself so hard. I mean, pretty much every possession, driving the ball into GT territory, and then he says "You know what'd be fun? If I threw a fucking interception!" AU's defense didn't look too good either, especially against the run. Got a bit better against the pass as the game went on, but I bet it's pretty hard to rest when the quarterback throws 4 picks in one half. And here's me being an asshole (And not really meaning it): I think it'd be funny if TCU doesn't win another game this season. Let's see, what else...yay UTEP (So far). Yay Troy. Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 By the way, today was the day I've enjoyed most in the past two weeks or so. I don't care that my team struggled with a team they should have whooped; today was a good day of college football and I'm so happy it's back.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Next week will hopefully top this week with Ohio State vs. Texas. That's where we'll find out if Texas is for real or not. Hey I wouldn't be shocked if OU lost to a team today that wouldn't win another game the rest of the season. Seriously being there you could just tell that they WEREN'T GOOD. Guest *KNK* Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Anyone happen to have which regions will get Ohio State-Texas or is it a featured game on all stations? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Considering it's the first meeting between two major programs both ranked in the top ten, I'm willing to say it will be nationally televised. Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 It's got to be fully national. I can't see anyone replacing a matchup between two top 10 teams this early with anything.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Texas/Ohio State will be nationally televised, along with Notre Dame/Michigan as usual.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Well you know the cool thing about liking multiple sports ist hat if one team disappoints you then you can just think of your other teams. While OU crushed my dreams I was able to go "At least I still have hope from the Eagles, Red Sox, and Celt.......ok not them."

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 If Jim Ross is asking why then he's didn't pay attention very well. Why was obvious....they weren't good. Damn Jim Ross.....and his one squinty eye. You know who impressed me today? Georgia. I'd like to see how they play in their next few games.

Gert T 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 You know who impressed me today? Georgia. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Well they will play South Carolina next week...and after what Spurrier's defense showed against UCF? I think DJ Shockley may dial it up all over Spurrier and the Gamecocks.
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Many people overlooked Georgia but they don't have that bad a sked compared to some other SEC teams. Their only tough games are at Tennessee and The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, and we all know how that goes. So I could see them going 9-2, assuming Shockley plays like he did today. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Georgia.....possible Rose Bowl darkhorse? I liked Trev Alberts trying to give us some hope. He said "It's not over Sooner fans. The sky is not falling. You can still win the Big XII and go to a BCS bowl game and oh yeah.....you can still beat Texas!" Now I think that's a little bit optimistic but some so called "fans" abandoned the team completely. One old guy leaving the stadium today said "I wonder how much I can get for my tickets for the rest of the season?" Another guy said "I wonder how the basketball team will do this year? Football season is over."
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Texas A&M loosing tonight could proove to be a big factor for OU. Now, Texas could possibly loose to Ohio State, and then they have to face Oklahoma and regardless who is playing Quarterback that will be a great game. They just need to pound Texas with the run (Assuming Peterson gets his game back on by then) So OU is not out of the Big 12 picture just yet.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 The losses tonight for TAM and OU meant nothing really in the long run. The winner of the Big 12 will still get the trip to the National Title game. But unless OU finds a quarterback and some offensive linemen in the next 20 days, they are toast. Eventually all programs are going to hit a snag year and OU is hitting the snag year. I don't care how good you are when 9 people are rushing forward and you only have 5 blockers.....5 BAD blockers you are going NOWHERE. Oh and while it didn't mean anything in the long run of the Big XII race because none of the losses were to a Big XII team I do think that it means something for OU just b/c they played so badly and showed how many holes there are on this team. Oh and the winner of the Big XII will be a 1 or 2 loss team. I gurantee you that. The only chance of having an undefeated Big XII champion is Texas and I don't know if they'll make it unscathed. And I don't think a 1 loss Big XII team will make it into the title game over a 1 loss Big Ten or SEC team. Especially if that 1 loss team is OU who will drop out of the Top 15 and Texas A&M who will drop out of the Top 25.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 I don't see anyone in the Big 12 finishing with less than two losses to be perfectly honest. Texas is going to be one of my early season upsets. Young is good, but he's going to show that inconsistency very soon. OU can still win the conference because the conference is really that bad this year. Hell, Texas freakin Tech has a great shot of taking it. Texas will live and die on which version of Young stands up to take the field.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Texas found some pretty good RB's but you never know. I think that nobody escapes the conference undefeated and whoever wins the conference is Fiesta Bowl bound. Big XII does not have a national title contender this year. Well I say that now but if Texas goes out and looks good against tOSU I may change that statement. But watch Texas beat up on tOSU and then get rolled by OU again. But you're right. The conference is really bad and I don't know what will happen in it honestly. I guess the conference being bad makes it exciting to watch b/c you don't know who is going to win. Hahaha..... iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Actually, I'd say this loss is huge for Oklahoma. Going into the season I was thinking that Texas would win the Big XII, and that the Sooners might be able to back into an at-large berth because of their easy schedule. Now I'd say that getting in as an at-large is completely off the table, and they're going to need another Texas choke job to even have a chance at getting in. BTW, when you look at how weak Oklahoma and Texas A&M are right now, it makes the Texas/Ohio State game even more important than before. If Texas gets by the Buckeyes, they're not going to play another Top 20 caliber team for the rest of the year, and it basically means that every team outside the Pac-Ten and Big XII will be locked out of the race for the national title. Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Oh and I've thought of some excuses for the "more homer than Damaramu" Sooner fans to use. -TCU was USC in disguise -SOONER better than later. -Purple is kryptonite -It's the NCAA's fault! Jason White should've recieved his 1789845948th year of eligibility! -We got mixed up with Texas. They played our game and we played theirs. -We were too focused on taking the redeye back to Norman that we forgot we were in Norman. -Dusty threw a kegger the night before to celebrate being back on the team then he got drunk and beat everyone up. -Our players are from Texas -Wait!? This wasn't a bowl game!? -It's all Tommy Grady's fault.
Carnival 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Nebraska beats Maine while scoring their only offensive touchdown(1 yrd run) thanks to a punt return to the 1 yrd line. Man they are gonna be rotten this year.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Well Igg OU can make it back to the the Top 10 if they run the table. Which gives Texas a shot.....but if Texas beats OU it would be nearly impossible for OU to make it back to the Top 10 unless OU dominated everyone. And I think after yesterday's game WE all know that OU isn't going to dominate anything except each other in practice. Texas may have a shot at beating another Top 20 team when they face Texas Tech. Tech shouldn't have a loss by then and should be able to climb up the ladder. But it sucks that OU sucks. Haha. There goes our streak of being in the Top 10 and our streak of finishing in the Top 5. Unless Paul Thompson channels Jason White and the O-Line all channel Jammal Brown.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 Texas did about as well as humanly possible last year going 11-1. It seemed like they got a huge amount of lucky breaks throughout the Big 12, winning on late TDs in the last minute or whatever. A guy I know in PA keeps pimping Iowa to me big time, saying they have a shot at the Rose Bowl. Thing is, someone like Michigan, Ohio St., or even Wisconsin will give them that 1 loss that will keep them out. Iowa isn't exactly a marquee team, 1 loss will send them out of sight and out of mind. Just wondering but how much does playing a jobber hurt in the BCS standings? I assume it hurt Auburn last year despite the SEC schedule. This year U of L is only playing one flat out non BCS league jobber in Florida Atlantic, and that's mainly as a favor to Howard Schnellenberger.
