CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2005 You mean exactly like Benoit did after he lost to Orton. Except you'd say that was putting over the new guy but when it's Hogan he's trying to bury Warrior. If that's what the crowd felt it's because they weren't that into Warrior. You can only control how a crowd react to a certain extent. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It wasn't just the crowd, although Warrior actually pushed them in that direction by making such a big deal out of Hogan as he was leaving. The end of that match was where Gorilla Monsoon first referred to Hogan as "The Immortal Hulk Hogan." Warrior wins the match, and HOGAN is immortal? Unreal. jester 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2005 I think the people were pretty into Warrior, it's just that they didn't give him any good feuds to work with after he was done with Hogan.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2005 So how did Hogan not put Warrior over at Wrestlemania 6? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As I said, he completely and totally stole the spotlight from Warrior. The focus was entirely on Hogan and how gracious he was in defeat. Remember the last image of WM 6 as a folorn Hogan rode off into the sunset? The people didn't think how great it was that Warrior was now champion. They were thinking how gracious and humble Hogan was after he lost. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You mean exactly like Benoit did after he lost to Orton. Except you'd say that was putting over the new guy but when it's Hogan he's trying to bury Warrior. The same as at WM X8. You can say the Rock got no rub if you want but at the end of the day he went into the biggest show of the year and beat his heel opponent clean. The crowd reaction made it neccessary for Hogan to turn face. It' s the fitting ending to a supposed 'dream match' to have the 2 men shake hands in the ring - it doesn't mean Hogan was trying to steal the Rock's spotlight. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You mean exactly like Benoit did after he lost to Orton. Except the focus went right back on Orton, with his music blaring out and the announcers talking him up huge. Nice try, though. The same as at WM X8. Thanks for proving you don't know what you're talking about. Hogan stole the spotlight and that is exactly what he wanted to do. It's all he ever wants to do. Promoter 0 Report post Posted September 15, 2005 Hogan did kind of steal the spotlight from Rock here in Toronto, but honestly most of the damn crowd was for Hogan. We never seen Hogan in YEARS prior to that. The wwe was just dumb in not understanding that Hogan would get pops like he did. He also lost his other "passing the torch" match in Toronto at the same event. Lucky for them they did what they did to make the match memorable. As for Warrior's reign, I think the match happened a year too early. The fans were sick of Hogan a year later in 1991. If they had waited who knows maybe they would have got the monster crowd for the LA Coliseum. Warrior's problem as champ was that he seemed like a poor man's Hulk Hogan doing the Hulk up using his legs. That was just lame. Not to mention he was doing the same damn feud with Rick Rude exactly a year later. Warrior went on to face guys like Dibase who Hogan already conquered. They did Warrior's reign too soon. He should have gone over Hogan in 1991 and do NEW feuds with guys like Taker who Hogan didn't crush as champion in his hey day.
