This Week in College Football 9/27 - 10/1

Recommended Posts

FSU is quietly turning into a real team. Drew Weatherford has look much more Chris Weinke than Chris Rix the past few games, and with Miami out of the way and no Virginia Tech on the schedule, I think FSU has an easier road to unbeaten in the ACC than the Hokies. They'll probably slip up somewhere and end up with a loss or two, but they get exponentially better with each game and don't look anything like the chumps we were all predicting to go 7-4 pre-season.

Nothing on the bombing at OU stadium, Dama?

I already talked about it earlier. They say it's a suicide but they won't release the sex, age, or race of the person.

My parents seem to think that it's a suicide bomber. But wouldn't the bomber want to blow up people in the stadium and not just themselves a half block away from the stadium?

I think the "suicide bomber" in this case was ACTUALLY a guy committing suicide and just trying to draw some attention to himself. Some at the game could hear it, but I'm assuming he was too far away, not near an important support, and lacking enough explosive power to cause sufficient damage.

This doesn't appear to be religious in nature. Just a whore for attention.

Well I'm agreeing with you. I know the exact place where it happened at and like I said it's about half a block away from the stadium. I wonder if it was a student though.

And I've seen them this year. I watched all of the Hawaii game and have seen plenty of highlights of their other games.

If you could watch the whole games, I'd take your opinion more seriously, but because you haven't watched the whole game, you have no business commenting on them.

That fucking Hawaii game where Dwayne Jarrett acted like a child when he got tackled.

Hawaii is a dirty team, this is probably the 4th or 5th time I've said this, and you can't come up with a defense.

Not to mention ESPN can't get USC out of their mouth. That's the most irritating part. Ok yes USC is very good. Best ever? No. Best offense ever? Maybe but right now no. So I wish they'd stop going on about it. They find a way to bring USC into discussion when they're talking about other teams and during other games as well. And they're the ones that brought up the USC turning it on and turning it off bullshit.

That's what happens with every other #1 team, you should be used to it by now. How about the Spurrier dicksucking? They find a way to blow him even though South Carolina plays like trash, and when his playcalling sucks.

And on top of that I heard Reggie Bush after the Oregon game and this game going on about how they were the only ones that could beat USC(as in USC can only beat USC) and that's about the most dangerous attitude you can have.

They will fall. All great teams do. And when they fall hard I'll be interested to see how quickly ESPN leaps off of the bandwagon.

Bush is right. If you watched the game, you would have seen that they committed a penalty in every 3rd down situation. Most of them were false starts. Can that be called beating yourself? They aren't going to fall hard, if they lose at all it will be a 3 point loss or a touchdown loss in which they have 20 penalties, many of them being false starts.

You REALLY can't blame Spurrier for the debacle here. The team lacks the talent needed. One of the receivers who was expected to step up --- Noah Whiteside --- has not. The running back situation became a disaster quickly with massive problems in the off-season (our best RB last season, Cory Boyd, is probably never going to play again). The offensive line is horrible and the defensive line hasn't gotten pressure on a QB in a few years now.

I can't blame him for the lack of talent.

I'm not blaming him, just saying that ESPN should know when to let up. Spurrier is a great coach, with a few more recruiting classes South Carolina will be really good.

And let's not forget the hypocrisy in everything Damaramu says. When OU is getting a verbal blowjob, he's all fine with it. When it comes to the evil team from the West, he's all up in arms about it. He's reduced to a joke at this point. That's the last I will comment on him.

I'm looking forward to the October 15th game vs Notre Dame though. It'll be interesting to see what Charlie Weis has for the men of Troy. (Because you just know USC is one of the teams they probably prepare extensively for...)

Notre Dame's going to be great in the 1st half and then Pete Carroll will make his halftime adjustments. USC just has to stop with the stupid 1st quarter penalties.

I don't expect anybody to challenge USC seriously again. I really don't. VA Tech could --- but they have a habit of late season collapses, so I'm not optimistic. I'm not sold on Tennessee or Alabama as possible contenders. And Texas --- well, I still expect them to lose to OU.

When does OU get a verbal blowjob? During the 2003 season they did at the end but that's about it. OU never really gets much praise from ESPN.

Maybe I'm more mad at the fickle nature of ESPN b/c I see them sucking USC's dick but I know the moment USC loses we'll hear "Not so fast my friend! USC had this problem and this problem! I knew all along they would be beaten!"

*rewind to before the game*

"Not so fast my friend! USC is the greatest football team ever! Nobody can beat them!"

Booty isn't all that great either.

Anybody would be better than Leinart.

I know it sounds awful to most of America, but if Reggie Bush comes back next year, there's a really good chance that USC's going to go undefeated again and win three consecutive outright national championships, 4 if you count the split.

Booty is bad, and I don't really get your Leinart hate. He's overrated, but not bad like you make him out to be.

USC can be put down for 2-3 losses next year, with or without Bush.

He's probably bitter about how USC manhandled Washington State last year. That was embarassing.

How ironic that OU is tied with the ones that dealt us our first loss.

USC will lose this year guys. Maybe not in the regular season but they will lose in the national title game if they make it there. They will not have a 3rd straight national title. And no way they catch OU's winning streak.....well they'd have to go undefeated for a long time to catch that.

USC has handled themselves so ridiculously well in these last two games, coming from behind both times and winning in two very different fashions, that I'm now definitely sold on them running the table this season. Notre Dame isn't high-powered enough; Cal's probably the only real challenger, maybe, unless UCLA really steps it up by season's end.
