Thinking of getting an Ipod.

Actually, not thinking about it, I will be getting a MP3 player of some sorts. I just don't have my mind set on which particular brand to get and was wanting some feedback on which brands are the best. Not sure how many of you out there have one, or know someone who does. But I am going to buy to take to work with me to help pass the time.

Size is fairly important to me, I don't want a big one. I really like the size of the new Ipods, the really thin ones. Storage, naturally, is also high on priorities. As long as it plays songs, I don't care too much for the extra bells and whistles. Shuffle would be nice, that's about it as far as extra's goes. A friend of mine has a Nomad and is pretty happy with it.

I would like some comments on those who know anything about the MP3 world of players before I commit to buying one. Thanks.

The Nanos aren't THAT much cheaper than the regular iPods, but they've got way less storage space

I love how people act like the 20-60GB iPods are too big. When you consider that the latter holds 12,000 freakin' songs within but a few cubic inches, it's incredible.

After lots of research, I went with the 60GB model. The 20GB had been my plan for the longest time, but when it came down to it (and the Apple student discount) it seemed more logical to plunk down an extra C-note and get 40 more gigs. Will I ever use all 60 gigs (actually, it's less than that)? Probably not, but I'll definitely use all the 20GB model can hold. Not wanting to even deal with CDs on the go anymore, the model I got made the most sense.

The Nanos are the hot, new fad, but realistically, there are only a handful of reasons you should actually get one:

1) You don't want your entire music collection to have in the palm of your hand.

2) You're mainly in the market for an MP3 player you can work out with.

3) You must have the hot new item, whatever that may be.

For $50 more, you can get the 20GB instead of the 4GB Nano and honestly, that's the way to go unless any of the above apply to you. And since my 60GB can fit comfortably in my pants pocket, I don't buy into the "it's too big" statement.

I have a shuffle, just cos it was free with my phone. It's enough to occupy me cos I rarely listen to over 100 songs in a single journey. And as I'm used to hauling my discman everywhere anyway I rarely notice how big it is.
