Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 I've forgotten about FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN! 3 weeks in a row now
Guest slmon Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Smackdown received a 2.4 rating this past Friday, which is one of the lowest ever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Personally, I don't think there's much interest out there among networks - broadcast or cable - for Smackdown. Raw barely got a network -its old home of USA - to take it, and it's a relatively successful show. Let's face it; SD's pulling mid-2s, its current network doesn't want it, USA didn't want Heat or Velocity (which are only slightly lower on the pecking order than SD) and even WWE - which owns and produces the show - doesn't care about it. If it meant the end of the brand split, I'd welcome the cancellation of SD. Those who are truly good - Eddie, Benoit, a few other veterans and over young stars - would catch onto Raw. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 ending the brand split would only work if Vince made a serious effort to curb all that shit that eats up so much valuable time: Diva Seach, HHH Promos (at least when he's NOT the champ), McMahonamania, Cabana Chat segments that lead to gay innuendo raps, etc.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Isn't 2.4 the same rating the got last week and similar (even higher maybe) than the week before that? I think this is the average rating they've been getting since the move to fridays. Why are they calling it one of the lowest ever?

Guest Kaedon Report post Posted October 17, 2005 I dont FNS was that bad this week. Randy and Eddie worked a good match, the 4 way was damn good, and that 8-man tag was my favroite part of the night. Big tags are fun to watch.

Perfxion 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Um, I can't think of any show on since the glory days of TGIF to pull ANY kind of "good" ratings on Friday. 2.4 is good considering that friday night is a deathspot. The core demo isn't home on the night. Its ratings are going against Friday night movies, bowling, parties, ect. ect. It would be nice to see what the ratings would be if it didn't count the Tivos recording the show.
Promoter 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 I agree with those about wanting to see this flop of a brand split come to an end. It hasn't worked. The arguments have always been about guys like Benoit and Eddie getting a chance? Where the hell are they now? The wwe blew both of their title winning stories within a month and were jobbing out by SummerSlam of last year. Then you got guys lame as hell getting pushed that they got no business getting. The only problem is what Black Lushus brought up and it is a big problem. One question. If Friday is so horrible of a night, why did it house Hogan vs. Andre 2 on NBC and a monster rating? Yes, I know that's a big difference from an ordinary Batista/JBL strap match, but if it good they will come is my argument.
Guest fanofcoils Report post Posted October 17, 2005 What do you people think if the brand split is ended, Smackdown is cancelled, some lower card wrestlers are released, only 1 major show per week (Raw), and it being 3 hours and moved to Thursday (which is a bigger night of TV than Monday)? This way all the main eventers in WWE will be on the show, and some won't be in main event positions and most/all of the top midcarders will be on the show and possibly some of the less important midcarders would make the show. 3 hours a week instead of 4 hours a week of TV (not counting Raw AM and if they have any other lesser shows on the weekend), a little less redundant. There will only be 1 huge show per week. Plus storylines/matchups are easier to do with everyone on the same show. I think this is better.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 eh, I've recommended something similar before, but as I already said, they won't drop all the BS currently keeping wrestlers off of TV so it'll never work...they NEED two shows so that they can squeeze in at least a little bit of wrestling alongside non0wrestling segments that go on and on forever... Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted October 17, 2005 Where the hell are they now? Eddy is maineventing against Batista and Benoit has been squashing Orlando for the past month and is now feuding with Booker.

David Blazenwing 0 Report post Posted October 21, 2005 I coulda swore the shows only serious weakness was the bad writing and bad wrestling. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's more WWE in general though, not just SmackDown.
