MrRant 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2005 Damn it. The Seahawks did not get to celebrate their Sunday night victory over the Texans for very long. News emerged Monday that starting FS Ken Hamlin suffered skull, brain and hand injuries during an assault outside a Seattle nightclub following the game. "He has a skull fracture," Seahawks physician Dr. Stan Herring said. "He has a small subdural hematoma and he has some bruising of the brain tissue. He will be kept in the intensive-care unit ...as we monitor him closely for the next 24-48 hours. "So far, he has done well. After that time frame, if he is stable, we will make further plans about care." Hamlin is a big-hitting safety with tremendous athletic ability. The team is currently more concerned with Hamlin's long-term prognosis than when he might be able to resume playing football. "It's way too soon," Herring said. "We need to get him out of the ICU, get him home and see how he does for the next few weeks." Hamlin was staying at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The hematoma was the primary concern because blood clots in the brain can cause serious damage or even death. Hamlin was in serious but stable condition and Herring described him as alert, though tired. "Right now, Ken is awake intermittently and talking to us," Herring said. "There is no evidence of severe brain injury in that regard. He is cooperating and when awake, alert and knows what is going on... "He's a little confused and tired. We have to wake him up over and over to make sure he is OK. He knows where he is. He knows his family is coming to see him." Hamlin suffered a broken right hand that should heal with a splint. Brain surgery was not considered likely unless Hamlin's condition changed in the coming days. "The concern is to make sure his neurologic status does not deteriorate," Herring said. "At this point, it appears this will be managed non-operatively unless things change." Seahawks president Tim Ruskell said he had spoken with Hamlin, as had coach Mike Holmgren. "Ken was the victim of an assault outside a downtown nightclub early this morning," Ruskell said in a statement released by the team. "Ken is in intensive care in serious but stable condition. "Coach (Mike) Holmgren and I talked with Ken and his spirits are good considering the situation. We are working in concert with the Seattle Police Department. The fact that this is an active assault investigation prevents us from further comment at this time. As information becomes available, we will share it with you. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ken and his family." FS Marquand Manuel will become the starter. He has starting experience and the Seahawks like what he brings to the field. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/teamReport?ca...ype=InsideSlant

Guest Brian Report post Posted October 19, 2005 Hamlin attacked a guy from behind and his friend nailed him with a 'No Parking' sign. The man that attacked him was found dead about three hours after the attack. Crazy Shit.
