CheesalaIsGood Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 http://www.bostonphoenix.com/mp3/OTD_Sciss...r_Horseshit.mp3 I'm digging this. http://scissorfight.com/news.shtml This is their site. Never posted a poll before so hopefully I didn't fuck it up.
nl5xsk1 Posted October 23, 2005 Report Posted October 23, 2005 The Phoenix "On the Download" blog is normally good for music. Good call on posting it.
CheesalaIsGood Posted October 23, 2005 Author Report Posted October 23, 2005 Yeah Scissorfight is is pretty darn good IMO. Going to see them real soon. The burley beards will no doubt be flowing.
nl5xsk1 Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 Scissorfight puts on a pretty good show. I've seen them a couple of times now, and have been pretty impressed each time. BTW, Cheesala ... where are you from that you're checking out the Phoenix?
Steviekick Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 I saw them a few years ago open for Shadows Fall. I really didn't like them. Total pirate metal. I did read a really cool interview with their vocalist who is ridiculously smart.
nl5xsk1 Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 I saw them a few years ago open for Shadows Fall. I really didn't like them. Total pirate metal. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Forgive my cluelessness ... but huh?
Steviekick Posted October 24, 2005 Report Posted October 24, 2005 LOL... It's not a scene, but the way he screamed sounded like a pirate. And he talked with lots of "argh's" and "yarr's" inbetween songs.
CheesalaIsGood Posted October 24, 2005 Author Report Posted October 24, 2005 Haha! Pirate Metal! The Iron Lung is indeed a different breed. If I remember right he is supposedly writing his thesis on the effects LSD has had on society or some such thing. He smokes alot of weed. Hence the name. Oh BTW nl5xsk1 I rock from New Hampshire. Steviekick - You have that interview still?
Steviekick Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 I might have it somewhere. It was in Alternative Press in 2002...basically it was about his thesis and how he was going for his Masters in something like Cultural Analysis. It was a special about "smart" rockers.
nl5xsk1 Posted October 25, 2005 Report Posted October 25, 2005 Oh BTW nl5xsk1 I rock from New Hampshire. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh, shit ... I didn't know that TSM had anyone from NH ... man, I've had some good times in your state. (some bad, too, but the good definitely outweighs the bad)
CheesalaIsGood Posted October 26, 2005 Author Report Posted October 26, 2005 Scissorfight shows depending on where they are can be dangerous places to be. They often attract a biker crowd which can get ugly real easy. A buddy of mine was wearing a support shirt for one of the local harley groups and some rival turds came up and demanded he give them the shirt. One show of his holstered gun later and they left him alone. SF is playing at the Bombshelter in Manchester on Nov. 12th. Thankfully they discourage the biker crowds by not letting them wear their supports vests shirts or whatever. So its usually a decent time.
Steviekick Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 I kinda noticed that there were a handful of bikers when I saw Scissorfight. Not many of them, as their were a lot of scenecore kids there since Lamb Of God and two other bands like that were playing.

I've seen some really bad shows there. Murphy's Law about 2 years ago, maybe a little less ... ugh, one of the worst show's I've ever seen. The BS seems to bring out the worst in bands, IMHO. But you've got to love a bar that has "cannot wear your colors" signs. Between that place, and the Uptown Tavern ... man, Manchester has some fun fucked up bars.
CheesalaIsGood Posted October 28, 2005 Author Report Posted October 28, 2005 I usually go to the Rover. I don't bother with Envy. The Uptown.... ugh. Still the BS tries really hard to make it work so to speak. But it just can't replace Chantillys.
