CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 With all the talk in yesterday's college football thread, I thought one of these would be fun. Today (Nov. 13) I have: $22 on Broncos -3 $44 on Alouettes (CFL) -4.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 Alouettes game was a win (30-14 Montreal). Broncos game is looking good so far.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2005 I was going to say that it would be better to start this on a Saturday, but that's just because I forgot that other people love to bet the NFL. Personally, I can't do it; the games just seem random to me and I know my win rate on them is under 50%. I still throw a bet or two out there occasionally on a recreational basis, but I know I can't make money on them. College football's another matter, however. Over the last five weeks of college football, I'm 33-14 on my picks, and up a little over $2000.
Fartsauce 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2005 I stick to proline myself although I've only gotten one ticket since hockey started. I might get a ticket for tomorrow night.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2005 Never have bet on sports. I feel like I'd be incredibly likely to crash and burn and then keep crashing and burning for a very long time.
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2005 I'm still pissed about the UGA game last night. Especially the Thomas Flowers fumble and the the fullback fumbling...
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 14, 2005 I bet $2 on Mary Pierce over Lindsay Davenport, and made $7. Holla. You kids can bet football, while I bet on easy sports like tennis.

therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2005 Gambling ruins families. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "Are you sure you want to do this Vern?" "Just place the bets Paul" I just felt the need to put this in the thread...
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2005 Only one play tonight, but it looks pretty good... $22 on Jazz -
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 14, 2005 $1 Ljubicic over Federer (3.50) and $1 Ljubicic wins in 3 sets (7.00) I hate betting men's matches, so wussy amounts.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2005 Here's a funny note. I was looking at Pinnacle Sports, (I check the lines there, because they get them early even though I don't actually have an account there), and you can already bet on the Rose Bowl. They've got USC listed as a 6.5 point favorite over Texas. If Fresno State or UCLA wanted bulletin board material, this could be it.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2005 As a gift to the board, I'd like to present my lines of the week. They might be a point or two off by now, as I did them earlier in the week, but most of them should be able to withstand that much fluctuation. Anyway, I'm 33-14 over the last 4 weeks, so I think that if you just followed them, you'd probably do pretty well. Furthermore, I like the lines pretty well this week, and I'm feeling pretty confident. I'd say at least 8 out of 12 should come through. Without further ado, here they are (in order of confidence). Oregon State +13 LSU -16.5 Penn State -7.5 Nevada -9.5 Purdue -12.5 Stanford +3.5 South Florida -18.5 South Carolina +1.5 Michigan +3 Vanderbilt +11 Kansas State +1 Maryland +2.5 EDIT: I didn't realize that Matt Moore wasn't playing for Oregon State on Saturday. Considering how bad he's been playing, (11 TDs and 19 INT), I doubt he'll be a big loss for the Beavers, but it does bring down the confidence a little. I'd still say OSU's a good pick, but probably not best of the week with a new QB starting.

snuffbox 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2005 Manny Pacquiao is opening as a 7-5 fave over Erik Morales for their rematch in January. Morales is being vastly underrated here due to his upset loss to Zahir Raheem a few months ago...Raheem is a far different fighter than Pac-Man and this will be a much different/better fight for Morales. My suggestion - Bet on Morales...now. He wont be the underdog by January.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2005 50 bucks on Pacers up by 5 at halftime. Charlotte 44 Indiana 39 with 3:39 in the 2nd Quarter. What did someone say about crash & burn?
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2005 I got to experience that horrifying feeling that you only get to experience when someone on a losing basketball team jacks up a meaningless shot as the buzzer sounds, that would cause them to beat the spread and make you lose your bet that you otherwise figured you had in the bag. Luckily, Mike James didn't have very good aim. 76ers -4.5 comes in.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2005 Kansas State +1 I like this one a whole lot.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2005 Fortunately I made most of my money backing by putting 100 down on Kobe getting 30 points last night. 1st Q 13 pts flying high 2nd Q 0 pts little nervous, in the bag suddenly going to be interesting. 3rd Q 18 pts Celebrating! 4th Q-6:30 am drunken haze. I also like the Kansas State and South Florida games. Although I was burned last week by the "final home game for a revered coach". And I think rivalry week is an absolute death trap for gambling. Gert T 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2005 I got a three team teaser going on: VT over Virginia -1 Penn State over Michigan St. -1 USC over Fresno St. -17 Ohio State -3 Michigan South Carolina +3 Clemson
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 19, 2005 I had $10 on Federer beating Gaudio, and I got $11 back from it. Holla. Now, I'll put those $11 on Federer beating Nalbandian in the final, and I'll get like $12.25.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 19, 2005 Two bets today: $66 on Northwestern -14.5 (they finally covered late in the fourth) $22 on Toronto/Atlanta (NHL) over 7 +
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 5-1 Leafs after 2, needed only one more goal in the entire 3rd period for at least a push...no dice. Oh well, I won the big boy today when I didn't think I would. I have nothing to complain about.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Today's action: $20 on Panthers -2.5 -120 over Bears $20 on Panthers -1 -115 over Bears (1st half) $44 on Jaguars -4 over Titans And a prop bet I thought had some value... $20 on both KC and Houston making a FG of 33 yds or more (+150)
