dubq 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 Well, speaking as a new TNA fan (I've only been watching since they started on Spike) I will say that I have no problem with Don West at all. I actually like his over-hyping. I agree that Tenay should be a third-man analyst type guy, though. Where is Hawaiian shirt Tony Schiavone when you need him? JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 Whatever they do, they need to keep Mike Tenay as he is probably the best play-by-play announcer not named Joey Styles. Perhaps they should give Tenay a show he commentates by himself, see if it could work. Could Shane Douglas be a possibility, he did a good job sitting in at commentary back in ECW. Guest [censored] Report post Posted November 22, 2005 I'm really suprised that anyone can even stand Don West. He's horrible and the product would be noticably better without him. I think Tenay is OK and would be better with some direction. He was much better when TNA first started. I'd like to see West sent back to the home shopping network and Douglas come in, not as a heel commentator but as a color guy who has been there and can help sell whatever story is being told in the ring. HBO boxing would be a great example of what TNA should strive to be like when it comes to announcing.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 West still has faults, but I don't mind him. Tenay actually needs to slow down on being over excited because it comes off as corny. West is good at over excited, so it works for me. One thing I'll say about West is he actually has improved and shows genuine love for what he does, as opposed to a guy like Coach, who has gone backwards and probrably gives two shits about wrestling. HandofFate 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Of course, if TNA were to go to a three-man commentary team now, they'd be "ripping off WWE" again. Didn't TNA start out with a 3 man announce group back in the day? If I remember correctly, it was Tenay, West and Ferrera or however you spell his name... Tenay is good, but I don't think he should be a play-by-play guy.
Guest J-Man Report post Posted November 23, 2005 I say go with the Three-Man team and bring in Don Callis. He's a great heel colour guy, and has some history in TNA. It'd be fun seeing him put over Jarrett and Team Canada, rather then just have Tenay and West go "That's DISGUSTING" and the same sell of Jarrett's acts we get everyweek. I think Callis left TNA and wrestling for a new job, so I doubt they could get him back, but you never know...
Guest Zarock Report post Posted November 26, 2005 TNA really needs only one announcer.
