Hey look first bowl invite has gone out: Navy is going to the Poinsetta Bowl, played in San Diego, which is replacing the Silicon Valley Bowl. I know you're all excited.

Other bowl news, the Liberty Bowl is now trying to get Fresno State instead of Virginia. The WAC is going to have no problem letting them go as Nevada can take the freed up spot for them by going to the Hawaii Bowl and then Boise State can stay home for their bowl, MPC Computers Bowl. Fresno would get a better in opponent who is likely to be Clemson in the MPC but they get a bigger payout by going to the Liberty.

If there's a god then Franchione gets fired after this season.

I hope that Auburn goes to the Cotton Bowl and beats Texas Tech down and hopefully the refs won't be there to save Tech this time.

I found out that 2 ref's on that crew were from Lubbock and 2 ref's on that crew were from Dallas. Hmmm........if you saw the end of the game you could tell that they were trying to give Tech the game.

I hope they all get fired.

Well honestly he sucks. I mean Texas A&M has all the talent in the world and he can't do shit with them. They were horrible his first year, decent last year but they got crushed in their bowl game, and then this season they're disappointing as hell.

The guy needs to lose his job and Texas A&M needs to hire a real coach because there is no excuse to not have a good team. Especially with McNeil running the offense. But he's gone now.

Actually I'd be shocked if Clemson fell past the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte (formerly the Continental Tire Bowl! go tires! go cars!). Charlotte really, really wanted them last year since Clemson is so close and travels so well, but had to settle for UNC after Clemson and South Carolina pulled out of bowl games post-brawl. Conventional ACC wisdom seems to be that Maryland/NC State are basically playing for the MPC Computers bid this weekend--Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Virginia have all been out there recently, and won't be sent/picked again. The way traveling reputations and bowl desires sorts out, it's also a possibility that Boston College could be the second consecutive 8-3, top-20 ACC team to get chosen by Boise, leaving the NC State/Maryland winner in the Emerald Bowl.

FSU is the interesting case in this situation. The Peach would love to get them for Bowden/Spurrier, but is also interested in hometown Georgia Tech, who always brings a herd to the Peach. If FSU loses out and ends up 7-5, they might fall all the way to the Champs Sports Bowl, which would make Boston College almost a lock for Boise. Virginia, meanwhile, is aimed straight at the Music City Bowl and probably Northwestern.

Oh yeah and if there is a God, Dennis Franchione will coach a good game for once and upset Texas...

I've said it all season, so I won't back down. Texas A&M will beat Texas.

How do you figure though? That would be like Cal actually beating USC. It's just a huge mismatch and one team is clearly leagues better than the other.

This isn't some kind of blind Texas hate, because I really don't hate them. I'm sure you remember the season of the bonfire deaths. I don't think A&M was great that year either. It'll be A&M 24 Texas 21.

By the way, Cal did beat USC when USC had their best team.

This year's USC is the best USC.

And no way Texas is held to 21. A&M has nothing resembling a defense.

This year's is the best?

I wonder what Keary Colbert, Mike Williams, Herschel Dennis and many other players from that season would tell you.

I know that A&M doesn't have a defense, but in rivalry games strange things tend to happen.

There will be a few open bids so it's not impossible although I haven't seen anyone predict they'll go to one. One thing would help is Arizona State losing Arizona has that would open up another spot as ASU needs to win to become bowl eligible. Of course there are several other bowl eligible non-BCS conference schools who would be hoping for that as well.

This is the team that everyone is claiming may be the best offense and best team ever...so yeah I tend to think they're the best team.

It's a rivalry game, strange things tend to happen in rivalry games. Remember Ohio State and Michigan in 1996 when OSU was supposed to be unbeatable and Michigan wasn't that good at all and the Wolverines winning that game, in Columbus as well? This is pretty much A&M's bowl game and they will pull out every stop imaginable to try and upset Texas.

Maybe Kentucky can get thier first win in about 20 years against this shitty Tennessee team. Who am I kidding? They'll find some way to fuck it up.

Who's everyone? If Kingofthe909 and I don't think so, then clearly that's not everyone. Also Dama, you should learn not to listen to media.... remember OU last year or the year before?

Won't happen. Texas has been held to fewer than 42 points once this season, by Ohio State. A&M is no Ohio State.

The Longhorns are totally focused and in full ass-kicking mode. If they suffer an upset (which they won't), it will be next week in the B12 title game. Not against the Aggies.

I'd say last year's USC team was better than this one. But it's hard to pick their 1-loss team ahead of an undefeated one.

I also had some uber-homer USC fan telling me about how the 2002 team was the greatest 2-loss team of all time, and that they should have been viewed as "co-champions" (whatever the hell that means) or some other such nonsense.

They could fall into the classic "farsightedness" trap though (i.e. looking ahead to the conference title game and/or national title game)

What kind of crazy nonsense talk is that? Did they think they got screwed out of the national title shot or something?

Oh and now this Bedlam game scares me. Yeah OSU is shitty but OU can go about this one of two ways. They can take their anger out on OSU or mope about it and still have a hangover from getting screwed.
