She's mocking you.

I know. But I still have to defend OU. Even if the jab wasn't their real feelings.

If I don't let you all know about OU's past winning tradition then you'll all forget and only remember the last two national title games and let those erase history.

Actually serious answer it will be Boise State against against an ACC team (Clemson/Boston College/winner of Maryland/N.C. State).

That's unfair... but, Boise was screwed in 2003 when they had to play in Fort Worth.

And their blue jerseys on blue turf is stylish.

I hope NC State makes it, because I want to see Roids Amato wear a tight shirt in 20 degree weather.

Bored, I heard the Pac-10 wanted to institute a Pac-10 title game, have you heard about this, and if so, do you know when it will be instituted?

Well unless the NCAA changes it's rule where a conference must have at least 12 teams to hold a title game it's not going to happen. In reality starting next year the Pac-10 won't ever have to consider it as with the 12 game schedules starting fulltime the conference has decided to expand the conference schedule to nine games thus everyone will play everyone. They are the only conference I believe so far that has decided to do this. The Big Ten should strongly consider it. Nine games would still mean there would be one team every year a team doesn't play but at least would reduce the chances the two best teams in conference don't play each other, like in 2002 when Ohio State and Iowa didn't play.

This is definitely the right approach to things given the lack of ability to run a conference championship game. It will also help in the BCS with strength of schedule because you know most other conferences will be using that extra game to schedule another record-padding home game against some 1-AA team.

Like a certain conference in the Southeast.

That's definitely going to hurt LSU if one of the top 2 loses, which is what they were talking about at halftime on CBS. The Big 10 played a lot of MAC teams, which have for the most part been stronger than the SEC's OOC. LSU's OOC was Arizona State, who have gone south, 1-AA Appalachian State, and North Texas, compared to PSU who have played for their OOC: USF, who could win the Big East, Cincinnatti, and another team who's name escapes me at the moment, but I think they were a MAC team.

* Checking it, the third team was 6-5 Central Michigan.

And just to throw something in, if this is the Dama we're going to have to deal with until the Rose Bowl, then I hope Texas chokes next week. I don't care if LSU gets to the Rose over PSU, just not having to hear him be a fanboy for the third straight year would make these threads a lot more peaceful...

Just wondering but why the talk of the Big East losing its bid? If things go as it should then WVU will simply win it and be 10-1, end the year in the top 10. U of L can go 9-2 and finish maybe in the top 15 range. Might be possible USF could crack the top 25.

Dama, I think the main problem people have with the Big 12 is that since 2000 there always seems to be some overhyped Big 12 team that gets an undeserved shot at the national title. Be it Nebraska that one year after they lost to Colorado, or either time with OU in the past 2 years. Right now I can't say the same for Texas since they are unbeaten along with USC. BUT...if they should somehow lose the Big 12 title game and still go to the Rose Bowl, you'll never hear the end of the bitching.

Nevermind Texas beating USC. Could they beat Penn St. or LSU? I'm not really sure they could. It doesn't matter if they simply win out, but should they stumble in the Big 12 title game, it's a fair question.

I think Penn State and LSU could hold their own against Texas and USC. Both have terrific defenses, PSU also has a QB that's experienced and can get the job done running or throwing most of the time in Robinson. If Derrick Williams didn't get hurt in the Michigan game I'd think they'd have a better shot of pulling an upset.

Oklahoma last year was hardly an "undeserving team". They were a clear 2nd in the BCS rankings and 2nd in all of the polls. And the hindsight crap doesn't mean anything to me. Had Auburn finished 2nd they would have gotten killed by USC while Oklahoma rolled over someone in the Fiesta Bowl.

I'll take a page out of the Dama playbook, "LSU was overconfident! They weren't ready!" I don't really think anyone can beat Texas outside USC, but given a choice between LSU and Penn State, I'd be more confident in LSU. Penn State is overrated in my opinion (before you say it, yes USC is overrated, Texas is overrated, everyone in the top 4 is overrated.)

While Dama shits all over the floor and rolls around in it, y'all are missing Nebraska absolutely hosing Colorado. As long as Iowa State handles their business against Kansas--and, admittedly, they failed in exactly this situation last year against Missouri--they're going to face Texas. Considering how hot Iowa State is, I think that'd actually be pretty fine game, and certainly better than seeing Colorado get clobbered again.

Years 3 and 4 will be pivotal. Callaham has to do 8-3 or 9-2 next year to keep the fans, alumns, and boosters off him. His top recruiting class from last year will continue to grow so they should do better the next 2 years...

I'd guess the heat will be off Callahan for a while if Nebraska finishes at least 9-3 next year. He needs to get a team that performs in the wins and losses columns as well as Solich's did. Winning the Big XII North in there would be nice too. I haven't had a chance to see Nebraska much this year but their offense has looked fine in the two games I've seen (today and against Texas Tech). All the team needs is consistency--which, admittedly, is a lot to ask for.
