Ripper 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Alina, did you get off your white ass and go buy the game? I want reviews. I will be getting this soon.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 23, 2005 No. Stores didn't have it in yesterday. Which is a sign it may have been delayed again, but it's a crazy week. Also, the PS2 version was already delayed AGAIN from the 28th to December 5th, if you don't have XBox.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 The delays can be good news or very bad news. Either it's buggy as fucking hell and they are trying to make it workable or they are spending an extreme amount of time brushing up on the details. I hope it's the second one although I haven't heard of any new features. Anyone got any info if they really added anything?
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 23, 2005 The presentation looks much better this year... they got the CBS crew doing it. The selection special thing they have looks really good. I feel the announcers are better with Lundquist and Raftery... but, I really hate Bilas. Graphically, not too much different, but the animations look more realistic. Also, as far as we know, not the crazy bugs there were in last year's version.

I HATED that bug.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Like that "wasted season" bug that froze everything and ruined your dreams of having a top notch program? I HATED that bug. Would that be the one where the game froze when you were trying to get next season after winning the Championship? I LOVED that one. I loved it even more because my final opponent was Middle Tennessee State, who was a 12th seed that got to the final game on a total fluke. Of course, my Illinois St. team was worlds better than they were, so it took me a good half an hour before I could finally simulate a victory for Middle Tennessee so that I could go to the next season. Good game, but as usual, the bugs seemed to totally ruin it for me.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 24, 2005 Yes, that was a horrible bug... But, at least there was a way around it. I don't care... College Hoops is still my favorite series of games. And I'll have to wait until Saturday to pick it up.
SilverPhoenix 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2005 I have the game. The EB in the Midtown Mall had the game for sale on Tuesday. I don't know what the hell happened with 2K Sports this year, but they need to improve their distribution channels, badly for the future. After sitting down with the game for 24 Hours, I can say that it takes a good game in 2K5 and makes it better with more options, more relaistic recruiting and scheduling. There is so much more I have to tinker around with an experiement, so don't expect me to give a full impression of the game for another week at least. No major glitches, yet with my copy, which is a good thing. This is definetely the game to pick up if you're into Hoops.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 24, 2005 One thing I hope they worked on was the simming of games. There were way too many upsets in 2k5... especially in the NCAA tourney. For my 1st title game in year 5... the final was an all MAAC matchup of Canisius vs. Manhattan. Granted, Manhattan was a 10 seed, and I probably helped to boost the MAAC's RPI over the years... but, still.

Wow, and I thought Witicha State and Niagra (which I moved to the A-10 for that session) was off the page. In 2K5, I saw some crazy ass shit. Including 16 Seeds blowing out 1 Seeds Lamar in the National Championship Game Manhattan winning 4 National Titles between the 3 full Legacies I did. The Colonial getting 3 Bids. The MAAC getting 3 Bids The Big Ten getting 1 Bid...Twice. Towson in the Final 4. Western Michigan winning the National Championship. Gonzaga going 5 - 24 in one season. And the list goes on. And oh, just for you Leelee. Nevada won the 2006 National Championship in my first simmed Legacy. Personally, I say bring it on. It's a videogame. It wouldn't be fun, if most of the Final 4s consisted of Duke, UConn, Syracuse and UNC all the damn time.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 24, 2005 Nevada winning isn't too farfetched... since they were ranked like 23rd in the preseason this year. I agree that the top teams shouldn't always be winning... but, we need a little more normalcy, than half the 1 and 2 seeds losing every year.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2005 #1 seeds should never lose in the first round because they really never lose in the first round. I mean ever. It's supposed to be a total mismatch those games so #1 should be winning HUGE. Second round and further, yeah they can go down but never round one.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 25, 2005 It can happen once in a while. In real life, it's going to happen eventually. It should have that one year with Purdue vs Western Carolina (I think).
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 26, 2005 I finally got the game this morning. It plays very similar to NBA 2k6 this year, except a little slower. The animations are a lot better this year, they were a bit of a weakness last year. I simmed a season, and I really really love the selection special thing. It actually makes sense on how they pick the teams this year, also. Hopefully I can play another 13 seasons like I did with 2k5.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 27, 2005 Ugh... I just can't play legacy mode unless I have all the real names of every player and coach. And I'm too lazy to do it. Wah! Edit: I found them online! But, I can't find my Action Replay! Wah!
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2005 Has anyone tested out the import feature yet? I really hope they fixed that headband glitch.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 30, 2005 0-3 so far with my IPFW Mastodons. And only lost 86-33 to Dook. But, Kennesaw St. is next! Representin' the Independents 4 lifize.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2005 How much is the game going for? Is it 30 or still down the 20 dollar range? Ah screw it, I'll look it up. Any major bugs so far or is the game running alright?
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 30, 2005 $30. I haven't run into any bugs, yet.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2005 Hmm... although I told myself I wouldn't buy anymore games, and I already own NBA 2K6, I may pick this up since it's only $30 and I can correct Illinois' NCAA Championship loss from last season.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 30, 2005 If you're a bigger fan of the NBA, I'd stick with that this year. This year's NCAA plays virtually similar to NBA.

Guest Leelee Report post Posted November 30, 2005 No, it's not a bad thing, at all. This game still plays very well. But, I wouldn't recommend spending another $30 unless you prefer the college game.
Guest Leelee Report post Posted December 29, 2005 Just bumping this to say this game is awesome. Last night, I finally finished my first season with Campbell. 25-6 with the A-Sun regular season and conference title. With an uber-pussy schedule. But, I need to play all my favorite Indepedent teams. And got a #13 seed. Those bastards. And, of course, got ass raped by Oklahoma St. in the tourney. Unfortunately, this game has many glitches again this year. If you change the rosters, at all... you can get the evil freeze again in legacy. It hasn't happened to me yet in the legacies I've tested... but, with the amount of people bitching, it will eventually. Also, if you edit any stats at all, besides the names, it will definitely screw up.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2006 The roster freeze hasn't happened to me. Somehow my last championship game was Troy state (me) vs Youngstown State. That was sad. I have aproblem now though. I have 8 freshmen on my roster. 8. I don't have any seniors so I can't recruit anyone this year and only one senior the next year, meaning I will have to recruit 8 guys at once. Plus I simmed ahead a few years to see what would happen, they all go pro after their junior year. I have to purposely not play some guys so that they will leave my team and free up some scholarships.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted January 8, 2006 You can always release players you don't want, too. I had to do that with Campbell, because they're set up for a 7 senior year in year 3. I'm currently sucking through year 2... because I'm redshirting my two ***** recruits, and my team is horrible. But, losing is fun.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2006 Releasing players doesn't open up scholarships though. It just makes them add another sucky walk-on.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted January 11, 2006 You need to release players with a scholarship already, though. It does work. They'll add a crappy walk-on... but, you do get another scholarship for next year. Also, best way to recruit in this game remains World players. Just keep phoning and send 5 emails every week... and you'll eventually get any World player you want, 95% of the time, by the end of the recruiting period. Good part about this is it costs little points... bad part is that you can't scout World players much at all. But, when you're a scrub team like Campbell... any 5* players will lead to dominance. Ripper 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2006 I have only been grabbing guys with A's across the board first. I got a shooting guard with A+ across the board. The best thing about this year is being able to recruit the guys as a junior. I have them pretty interested already and then I just go for the top recruit of the classes. Its been easy so far, because I only have one senior per year, but I am only one year away from the mass exodus into the NBA/Senior year that will leave me without 8 players. I haven't grabbed a world player yet.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted January 14, 2006 How do you manage to recruit so well with Troy? I think the Sun Belt is just a mid-major. With Campbell, I can't come close to nabbing a 5* US player. 4*'s only in a great while. I also like that you can recruit some players when they're a Freshman. Gives you more to plan about during the year. However, there's still way too many good recruits available. In the real life ratings, there's roughly 20 5* players a year... not like 50-60.
