Eddie Guerrero Autobiography

Recommended Posts

Have any of you guys actually read this book yet? I got a few WalMart gift cards for Christmas, so I used one of the $20 cards to pick this up ($17.98 or so). I haven't read any of it yet really, but I did notice the one page that Vince McMahon wrote at the front of the book, and by just flipping through the pages I noticed this quote from Eddie near the end that stood out to me:

"God forbid something were to happen to me where I couldn't work anymore, I can honestly say I am satisfied with the effort that I've given these past few years. I have given my all, my full heart. I can walk away and know that I've given the best I had to give.

My dad taught me early on that wrestling is bigger than any one person, bigger than any of us. If I retire, the show is going to go on. Another person will step into my place. That's just the way it is."

I just got it for Christmas but haven't started reading it yet. At the begining of the book there is a one page tribute by Vince about Eddie's passing. Also I would have liked to see more color photos in the middle photo secton of the book.

I'll start reading it tonight.

What are some other recent wrestling books? These things seem to just sneak onto the market at times.

I dont know how long its been out, but I picked up a paperback version of Regal's book over the weekend if that helps....

HBK's book, of course, just came out. Russo did a book that came out not too long ago as well. Started just reading that recently (The Russo one) and its full of religious talk and really hasnt interested me too much yet. But I just started it and skimming through the chapter list, I'm sure there will be interesting stuff ahead. Whether it is fact or not remains to be seen.

I heard there was a Stampede wrestling book that came out not too long ago. It's supposed to be in the upper echelon of wrestling books

I'm about halfway through the book...it's pretty good. The only gripe I have so far, albeit minor, is that there seems to be an overabundance of exclamation marks. Just seems like poor editing.

Anyways, here's a bit I found a little saddening to read...

"Art was the first of many wrestlers I've known that left us before their time.

The list goes on and on - Louis Spicolli, Brian Pillman, Moondog Spot, Curt Hennig, Crash Holly, Road Warrior Hawk. All gone, all way too young.

It happens so often. It breaks my heart, because in our business, death is no longer a surprise. I don't have an answer as to why so many of us don't make it. All I can do is shake my head, and thank God that I'm still here."

I noticed that instantly, and I'm only on chapter two so far. Other than that, it's great so far.

I liked the mention of Nathan Jones at the start of it. :)

I went out with every intention to buy this and the HBK book at Wal-Marts today. On the drive up I started to think about movies I wanted to see so I bought "Dark Water" and "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" instead.

Just like HBK's book, I figured most of the good stuff from Eddie's will be posted and over discussed here.

I think the Bill Watts book comes out pretty soon (if its not already out), which is another one Meltzer has said was very good.

Maybe we'll FINALLY get the reasons for the infamous Watts Rules when he was running WCW.

Isn't that book only available across the border, or at amazon.ca?

Edit: Here it is http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/0973...2406551-0832811

I don't have any money right now. How long would Amazon keep a book like that on their website? Anyone have any idea?

I just ordered my copy, and I was very tempted to pick up the St. Louis as well. I don't think it arrives for three weeks, though, but it will be worth the wait.
