Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Nobody says "there are" anymore. "There's too many grandmas in the kitchen." "There's a lot books in my bathroom." These aren't correct sentences, people. News anchors and sportscasters completely misuse gerunds, as well.
spiny norman 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 I once saw a newscaster pronounce "awry" as "awe-ry". It amused me.

nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Nobody says "there are" anymore. "There's too many grandmas in the kitchen." "There's a lot books in my bathroom." These aren't correct sentences, people. News anchors and sportscasters completely misuse gerunds, as well. I still use 'there are' fairly frequently. I even contract it while typing it (there're) because it's pretty much the way I'd say it verbally rather than typing it. And how can there EVER be too many grandmas in the kitchen?!?
