EdwardKnoxII 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2005 You know Doink The Clown would be the perfect gimmick for Shelton. By the way who owns the rights to the gimmick for it to still be used alot in the indies?
JJMc 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2005 A few years ago, there was an ad for this bottom of the barrel show around here advertising "Doink the Clown from the WWE" and showing this guy in a horrible Doink costume and wearing make up that looked like it had been applied by a four year old. UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2005 In Wildwood, NJ the "Wrestling All-Stars" shows (King Kong Bundy, Patriot, etc.) perform on the beach during the summer. Doink is advertised, but apparently isn't allowed to be called "Doink the Clown" on the posters or at the show. He is billed as "The Famous Clown".

I wonder if anybody goes to the show expecting to see Bozo or a live action Krusty tussle with King Kong Bundy.

Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 Yeah, the NAWF around here in Wisconsin has their "Pro-Wrestling All Star" shows and usually have some schmoe as Doink, I guess.
Team Angle Pusher 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2005 The gimmick can be good for like 4 months but it needs to be done right. Make him a evil clown and scare everybody, it could be awesome but like I said, only for a short period of time. Then he's not "special" anymore, same thing with The Boogeyman. (unlike wcws big iudea to have a free show on the beach for BATB 95) I remember back in 02 when I was visiting NY and went to Seaside, NJ for 2 weeks they were having a show there on the beach with Jerry Lawler advertised, but sadly it was taking palce the day I left
razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2005 Friday night TWE of San Antonio will be coming to town featuring: Doink the Clown - Matt Borne? Raging Bull Manny Fernandez - too old? Mr. Wrestling III - any good? Milano Collection AT - the only reason to go?
razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2005 The person who portrayed Doink the Clown was the same person who was Mr. Wrestling III. It was so obvious that even the drunks knew it and started chanting "We want Bozo" during the Mr. Wrestling III match. Considering the show was only $10 I think I got my moneys worth....the actual in ring action was not that great but considering that everybody was students of Rudy Gonzalez or Manny Fernadez it was a good show. What did make the show good was the crowd reaction during the show. One side was the drunks in the heel section if you will that tried to start chants like "We Want Bozo", singing the song "stand by me", and the TNMT Turtle song by Vanilla Ice "Go Ninja Go" and even starting the wave! On the other side was the kids all under the age of 10 always cheering for the faces and running up to the good guy after the match. I myself was in somewhere in the middle either cheering for the heel yelling "Cheat to Win" and saying no when the ref asked if somebody pulled the hair. The crowd was hot for every match no matter how bad the match was because they were either a drunk yelling out stupid shit or kids cheering for the good guy as they should. And then there were the people in the middle just laughing their ass off to the reaction to the people cheering or booing. Tis was a great show and well worth the $10. The best match of the night was by a guy that had "Rock & Roll Ninja" on the back of his siglet vs a guy who was billed from the local town and had braids that looked exactly like Evan Karagious. The "heel section" in its drunken stuper started singing the TNMT Vanilla Ice song, some teenager yelled "Evan Karagious sux" and I did the RVD thumb taunt to the guy in the siglet. Appearently it got to the guy and he demanded the mic and made some comments attacking the crowd "Highschool football here is a joke". In the main event it was Rudy Gonzalez vs Manny Fernadez but before the match there was a 10 bell salute for their "friend" Eddie Guerrero...everybody stood up to respect our favorite luchador.....it was cheap heat but it had to be done.
