THere are some notable omissions like Tiger Mask vs DK and some wrestlers such as the Hart Foundation an d the Killer Bees have had better matches out there.

I already finished all my voting and on retrospect maybe I shouldn't have been in such a hurry to do that since I now regret a few of my match placings.

This is how I rated them.

1)Bob Backlund vs Adrian Adonis (1/18/82 MSG) -- Great. Turns into a vicious fight at the end of it. I was too hasty in putting this in the top spot though

2)Glamour Girls vs Jumping Bomb Angels (11/24/87 MSG) -- Maybe I should've put this in the top spot. Excellent bout and the JBA got greased in this list because they have at least of couple of other matches that should've been in the top 10. Match is ahead of its time and features a fantastic top rope double team dropkick.

3)Dynamite Kid vs Bret Hart (9/14/85 Landover, MD) -- Oh my goodness I love this. DK brings some of the best offence you will ever see in your life. You will rewind the tape over and over again just to watch this. Beautiful, beautiful match.

4)British Bulldogs vs Hart Foundation (9/23/85 MSG) -- Great wrestling. Hard hitting. Paced well and full of cool offence. DK is so fast

5)Dream Team vs British Bulldogs (4/7/86 Wrestlemania 2) -- THe Bulldogs look terrific in this.

6)Bob Backlund vs Adrian Adonis (3/20/82 Philadelphia, PA) -- I kind of forget this one. Cool ending.

7)Randy Savage vs Ricky Steamboat (7/27/86 Toronto, Ontario)-- Not only do I like this better than Mania I like it a lot more. I must've watched this about 15 times over the years. One of my most rewatchable matches this is full of everything. Feels very epic. Hard fought out battle

8)Sgt. Slaughter vs Iron Sheik (5/21/84 MSG) -- Great match. I liked this better than the bootcamp match because I felt Sarge was in more trouble during this one

9)Bret Hart vs Mr. Perfect (10/2/89 Wheeling, WV) A match that has just shown up rescently. Super beginning to it.

10)Sgt. Slaughter vs The Iron Sheik (6/16/84 MSG) Everyone's going nuts over this bout. Definitely a bout to check out. It'll probably win the overall voting at deathvalley

11)Steamboat vs Bret Hart 3/8/86 Same match that is on the Bret DVD. Great stuff. Bret has said they even had a better nontelivised bout the night after.

12)Bob Backlund vs. Hulk Hogan (4/8/80 Philadelphia, PA) People are mixed on this one. Flawed but it worked for me. MUST SEE for the uncanny strength of Bob Backland who is super human strong.

13)Mr. Perfect vs. Ronnie Garvin (12/12/89 Nashville, TN) To appreciate this you gotta put yourself in 1989 hoping Perfect will lose his perfect streak. Perfect match in that it makes you think over and over again that Garvin might do it only for Perfect to snatch victory out of thin air making you go "Noooo".

14)Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage (4/2/89 Wrestlemania 5) As with a lot of Savage matches this felt like a big important match. Very good wrestling.

15)Randy Savage vs Tito Santana (4/22/86 MSG) -- JIP. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Cool in how Santana actually gets a lot of offence in but yet the match doesn't let you cheer for Macho.

16)Adrian Adonis/Dick Murdoch vs The Brisco Brothers (12/28/84 MSG) Very, very good. Will do very well in the overall rating at DVDVR.

17)Steamboat vs Valentine 6/21/85 A glimpse into Steamboat's karate gimmick which was a little more cartoony here. Very intense match.

18)Ultimate Warrior vs Rick Rude (8/28/89 East Rutherford, NJ Summerslam) -- Very well worked. This makes Warrior look strong

19)Hulk Hogan vs Big Bossman (3/18/89 MSG) Really good. THis is a cage match.

20)Bob Backlund vs Buddy Rose (11/25/82 Philadelphia, PA) Watch how Rose takes the advantage from Backland. I really liked how it was done here

21)Bob Backlund vs Sgt. Slaughter (1/10/81 Philadelphia, PA) Kind of forget this

22)British Bulldogs vs Hart Foundation (11/1/86 Boston, MA) Too short but fun while it lasts

23)Strike Force vs Islanders (10/3/87 Boston, MA) The WWE style at the time done to perfection really. The offence here in this bout is what makes it stand out from the pack

24)Rockers vs Brainbusters (10/31/89 Hersey, PA aired 11/25/89 SNME) Lots of fun counters and some real smart work

25)Brainbusters vs. Hart Foundation (8/28/89 East Rutherford, NJ Summerslam) Best part of this is the beginning which is excellenty worked and executed.

26)Bob Backlund vs Adrian Adonis (3/28/82 Landover, MD)

27)Bret Hart vs Randy Savage (Seattle, WA 11/11/87 aired SNME 11/28/87) In retrospect, I was way too hard on this match. Should be up a lot higer

28)Bret Hart vs Ted DiBiase (3/8/89 Odessa, TX aired Prime Time 3/20/89) A favourite of mine

29)Ricky Steamboat/Junkyard Dog vs Don Muraco/Mr. Fuji (8/17/85 Landover, MD) Lots of fun

30)Barry Windham vs Dick Murdoch (2/16/85 Philadelphia, PA) Very good.

31)Hart Foundation vs Twin Towers (5/17/89 Duluth, MN)

32)Johnny Rodz/Jose Estrada vs Tony Garea/Steve Travis (9/18/82 Philadelphia, PA) I was impressed in how they kept the match interesting for 3 falls when really the first fall would've been an adedquate match

33)Tito Santana vs Butch Reed (5/12/87 Anaheim, CA aired PTW 5/12/87) Hot crowd. Maybe I should've put this one up higher

34)Rick Rude vs Roddy Piper (12/28/89 MSG) Rude had some real cool punch exchanges with Piper. I'm not sure if they do that in this match or not anymore

35)Adrian Adonis/Dick Murdoch vs Bob Backlund/Brian Blair (7/7/84 Philadelphia, PA) Nice ending

36)Bob Backlund vs Ivan Koloff (Philadelphia, PA 6/4/83) Good

37)Ricky Steamboat vs Jake Roberts (8/9/86 Boston, MA) Some very interesting counters that are smartly worked around Steamboat's hand. It's too bad the WWE really didn't do hand submission. Definitely check this one out

38)Hulk Hogan vs Randy Savage (1/27/86 MSG) INtense but not too long if I remember right

39)Bob Backlund vs Sgt. Slaughter (10/20/80 MSG)

40)Ken Patera vs Pat Patterson (4/21/80 MSG)

41)Randy Savage/Adrian Adonis vs Tito Santana/Bruno Sammartino (7/12/86 MSG)

42)Bob Orton Jr. vs Mike Rotundo (12/1/84 Philadelphia, PA)

43)Bret Hart vs Bad News Brown (4/25/88 MSG)

44)Fabulous Rougeau Bros. vs Rockers (10/10/89 London, England) Entertaining beginning where they do some comedy. Nice comedy bits all the way through actually

45)Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage (3/29/87 Wrestlemania 3)

Somehow, 2 DUDs made it onto the set (including one of the worst matches I've ever seen), but TM vs. DK was left off. Go figure. The WWF category wasn't very deep, I think I only had the top 30 or so rated above ***. It's a nice set to have anyway, as it allows one to see the greatness of Adonis, Murdoch and Sarge, all of whom are really, really good, but don't get much praise in some parts. Here's how it broke down for me.

1. Bob Backlund vs. Adrian Adonis (1/18/82)

I think this set is worth having.I am surprised that some other matches didn't get on the list.Maybe they could have replaced some stuff with

hart foundation vs killer bees 2/17/86

ken patera vs bob backland death match

bob backland vs muraco

hart foundation vs rockers 89

I'm sure another hart foundation/buldogs match could have made the list.Maybe they didn't want to have too many matches with the same team.

Did they ever do a top 100 of the 90s ?I know there's a top 20 but how about a top 100.

If not for a copout finish, I would hope Strike Force (ch) vs Hart Foundation (MSG 11/24/87) would be on the list.

I still think it should be regardless. A nice, hot match w/ 2 face-in-peril segements and also features my favorite Hart plunge into the guardrail as the Harts showed that they may have illegally switched one too many times. My only slight complaint is that the match looked to be worked w/ the Harts as the champions and Strike Force as challengers and not the other way around. SF was fighting like they were desperate while HF was a little too calm to come across like champions who just fumbled the belts a few weeks prior. Monsoon and Bockwinkle did the commentary and really did a great job focusing on the match. Just an overall marvelous match throughout.

"14)Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage (4/2/89 Wrestlemania 5) As with a lot of Savage matches this felt like a big important match. Very good wrestling."

As opposed to all those small Hogan matches that felt more like midcard matches than epic Main Events. :D

Maybe I need to watch some older Adonis stuff, since I only remember him from 1986 on when he got really fat and horrible. The image I have of him and seeing his name on Best Of the 80s lists doesn't jibe.

To be honest from watching the 24/7 old stuff I think the WWF had the worst in ring action by far of the major promotions. The NWA had much better in ring action, and hell the AWA had a lot of good stuff too. WWF stuff from the 70s/early 80s though? Dear God it's dull.

Adonis started falling off in late 86 or so, but he didn't get terrible until later. Up until that point, the guy could go. To put it in perspective, he'd be better than all but 2 or 3 guys in the WWE today.

And yes, WWF likely had the worst in-ring product of the 80's. The style was absolutely terrible. It was just so dull and relied so much on "by the numbers" heat building shortcuts. It's kind of like the way WWE is today. Unless there are any hidden gems that didn't make the DVD, they only produced 5 ****+ matches for the whole decade. Funny, that's about the pace that WWE is on for this decade.

I just got this set.Looks like some great stuff is on these discs. However, the wrestling quality improved dramatically from the 80s to the 90s.Very few if any of these matches would be able to crack the 90s top 20.I will rank them after I watch them all.

Btw,I know the 90s have a top 20 but does anyone know if they listed the 100 nominations like the 80s list ?
