TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2005 I was looking around the net for the ratings for the special and I hadn't seen them anywhere. I know the ratings normally come out on Monday afternoon/Tuesday morning, but I thought I remembered the ratings for the first Thursday being released on Friday. Has anyone heard anything about how last week's show did? Just wondering....
Guest karlitoapple Report post Posted December 12, 2005 Does anybody know how reliable Wikipedia is? Their updated TNA ratings history claims a 1.2 for the show.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2005 If that special did a 1.2, TNA would have been doing backflips and pimping the hell out of that number. It probably ended around .7 to .

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2005 That is the major area TNA needs to work on: Promotion I swear, hardly anyone knew about the special AGAIN. They barely talk about it on Impact and you don't ever see a commercial for something like that. TNA isn't going to be able to raise a rating based on word of mouth alone. They need actual promotion and they need a promotion department if they want to get bigger. I'm not blaming Spike, this is part TNA's problem. They mentioned the special like what? Once on the Saturday before the special? You can't do that. If you want to secure a two hour slot, you have to push your product and pimp the hell out of it. Thats been the EXACT main issue with TNA throughout the years. They never would really advertise much at all to let people know they are even around. This was really bad during the weekly ppv time - their scope of promotion on them was their website and ppv crawlers on the ppv channels, and that was about it. It seems like they were making steps in solid promotional moves when they did the first Thurs special, as well as Bound for Glory in general, but after that, its now kind of been null and void. Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2005 I'm agreeing, in full, with 2GOLD. SpikeTV isn't making the same mistakes it did with ECW when it was still TNN by not promoting the show at all, as they air commercials for Impact and gave TNA a fairly decent timeslot that won't be massacred by more popular shows running head-to-head with Impact. Spike COULD advertise TNA more, and Viacom as a whole could run advertisements for TNA on other stations (MTV, VH1, CBS, etc.) to ensure its ratings success (and to also get back at Vince for trying to fuck with them, as I do believe he did). BUUUUUT... TNA needs to hype themselves better. Have David Sahadi make a few newer video packages to use as commercials and ask Spike to run them at least once an hour during other programming (especially UFC programming). HYPE TNA's feuds and how much they, as a company, differ from WWE without going overboard (ie. show Ultimate X, now they have clips of the Barbed Wire match between Abyss and Sabu to use in the "you'll never see hardcore stuff like this in WWE" way, and run a clip of Christian saying he came to TNA because it was the place to be). HYPE the shows and do their best to make each one a can't-miss. HYPE the PPVs better so that each one seems like it's going to be the greatest PPV event of all-time, but not in the Tony Shiavone "this is the greatest night in the history of our sport" way. razazteca 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2005 TNA needs to have more advertisements for its videos, at least, have a 30 second commerical to be shown everytime Morphopex is. It should be an intense Don West spot with him losing his voice "CALL NOW AND GET THE AJ STYLES PHENOMIAL DVD & BASEBALL T-SHIRT SPECIAL FOR ONLY $39.95!" or "IF YOU BUY THE JEFF HARDY DVD YOU ALSO GET A CAN OF THE TRADEMARK GLOW IN THE DARK PAINT! FOR ONLY $24.95".
Dimensions 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2005 That's another thing, I think they need to search for a better sponsor because Morphoplex is so low-class. Strickly from a marketing and designer POV, those commercials look like local TV spots and/or infomercials. And that company needs a complete overhaul and a new logo because the font they're using for the logo sucks big time and it looks very amatuer. But they gotta take what I can get. Just saying, they suck and I think it doesn't do anything for TNA's image but lower it. I mean, I cringe everytime i see those damn Morphoplex spots.
TNABaddboi 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2005 Well PWI said they did their normal number: .8. Here's what they posted: The TNA Impact episode that aired last Thursday drew a .8 rating, which is what the show usually does in its Saturday night timeslot. It was moved up because Spike TV was airing the Video Game Awards this past Saturday. The Thursday showing garnering a .8 among Males 18-49 (396,000 viewers) and a .5 among demographics 18-49 (489,000 viewers) While I do agree that TNA did not promote this show at all, and the audience will never grow without promotion, I guess it is good that the audience they've clearly got followed them. It'll be interesting to see if they follow them back, because I believe the first show after the last primetime special was the series low so far, IIRC.
