Guest Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 I've always thought about it like this, and in my mind it's starting to ring very true. The East gets the hype, the middle of the country gets the best coaches and the West provides a lot of the talent.
Mr. S£im Citrus Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 ESPNRadio's Dan Davis just reported that Kobe Bryant is expected to be suspended later this afternoon, as a result of his elbowing Mike Miller in the MEM/LAL game on Wednesday.

Kobe gone for two games http://www.nba.com/news/bryant_051230.html
Dangerous A Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 I was expecting one game just because he doesn't have the reputation of someone like Artest or Fortson of doing this on a regular basis. However, I think they gave him 2 for coming out and admitting that he went after a guy. Since this isn't a regular thing for him, he's gotta learn to throw 'bows around the chest area. Anything from the neck or above is going to get you in trouble.
Gert T Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 That's good news for the Lakers next 2 opponents, the Utah Jazz! Yeah Kobe should have left it lower, or at least not talked about it to the media afterwards.
Brett Favre Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Kobe thinks he's Charles Oakley.
mike546 Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 I honestly think Marbury is gone by the end of this season. I know his contract is huge, but this relationship with Larry is just not working out, and is getting worse and worse as the season continues.
Rendclaw Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 I wonder if Kobe was goaded into doing that somehow. I may think he is a ballhog with delusions of being Michael Jordan II, but not a dirty player. And yes, the Heat-Pistons game went exactly as I thought it would. Wade goes off, Shaq does well but they go away from him late in the 4th quarter, and the Pistons lock them down defensively and they cannot adjust. I don't think the Pistons will win 70 games, and unless there are in a position that they can go for it and not endanger their chances of gaining the homecourt, I doubt that they will try for it.
Dangerous A Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 I don't think Kobe was goaded into it so much as he let the situation get away from him. Happens to a lot of us. I am a pretty level headed guy who doesn't have much of a temper and love to hoop. Sometimes guys get physical. I don't mind getting physical back, but when you go into the relm of hurting someone, I can see even the most collected guy losing it. Kobe very much deserves the suspension because it is against the rules to intentionally hit someone in the neck or higher, but I can see where he was coming from when he did it.
Guest Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Good. He's gotta show his teammates that they can't take shit. When Miller hit him in the face, inadvertent or not, he's gotta let the league know that his team's not going to take being pushed around. They play the Jazz anyway, so no big deal.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Umm...how is it good that they lost the game and their leading scorer and shot taker is going to be gone for two games? Was it really worth it? Mike Miller hit him by accident, so Kobe's stupid ass decided he wanted revenge by intentionally elbowing him in the chops? Give me a break. Sometimes it's like watching a bunch of seven foot-tall 6 year-olds running around. Kobe's not so much of a dirty player as he is a dumbass. He thinks he's someone that he's not most of the time and just doesn't get it.
Guest Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Did you watch the game? Or any other Laker games this season? They've been getting manhandled routinely out there, someone's gotta step up and protect the team. Plus, it's against fucking Utah. Phil Jackson's made that team into his personal bitch over the duration of his career, they'll win one of the games.
Precious Roy Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Mike Miller always plays well against LA, I think he gets amped up to play Kobe. He's the kind of player who can really piss you off over the course of the game, kind of like Rip Hamilton with the way he's always active, but I think Miller can get dirty, the kind of shit that won't call the ref's attention but pisses off the guy he's running against, little hooks, pushes, grabs of the jersey, that kind of shit, throwback style. It probably built up over the game and Kobe just lost it
nogoodnick Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 The Lakers need someone to do the dirty work for Kobe. Bring back Rodman, Oakley or someone. In other news I think I witnessed the end of Damon Stoudamire's career last night. He drove, slipped, and didnt get up to and get back on D. They ended up taking him off the court on a strecher while he covered his face in towels to hide his tears. Apparently he ruptured some tendon in the knee and is gone for the whole season. Thats too bad becuase he was playing really well.

Its a shame too, he was just starting to play well after a slow start to the season. Also leaves a nice hole on my fantasy team now as well.
