therealworldschampion Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Flynn looks great behind center, QB controversy at LSU in the spring?
Damaramu Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 What the hell happened after the game?
Damaramu Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 On ESPN they were talking about the next great players in college football(thank god they didn't mention Bomar) and they didn't mention Peterson. I started to get upset then I thought. Is he already considered one of the great players in college football? I kind of thought this season made him fall off the map as one of the best in the nation and that he'd have to regain his status next year. Apparently he still maintains his status as one of the greats.
Urban Warfare Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 I heard that there was a huge brawl after the Peach Bowl.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Well, I guess now is a good time to retract that statement about Miami walking over LSU. What an astonishing ass-whooping.
teke184 Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 (edited) Well, I guess now is a good time to retract that statement about Miami walking over LSU. What an astonishing ass-whooping. And from the ESPN reports after the game, the only player known to get his ass whooped seemed to be from Miami as well... Who'd have ever thought there'd be a day when the dirtiest players in the game, Miami, are the ones getting their asses whooped in a brawl? Edited December 31, 2005 by teke184
Spaceman Spiff Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 So, why was LSU running fake punts & fake FG's late in the game w/ that big lead? That's pretty low class, especially against a guy like Larry Coker, who's not known as a coach who does that kind of stuff.
Damaramu Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Maybe LSU wanted to prove something? Prove they're for real and make a statement for next season that they're mean, nasty, and ready to kick someone's ass?
Guest Leelee Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Supposedly, the players made the choice of doing the fake punt on the field. I think things like that are totally overblown, so I don't care. If you see a chance to make a play, then you do it.
Damaramu Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Man I thought OU fumbling everywhere against TCU was a result of Paul Thompson sucking but apparently TCU is good at causing those. ISU has to win for the Big XII to have a shot at that Bowl Challenge Cup. Then again I think Texas needs to beat USC for the Big XII to beat the Pac 10 anyway.
Damaramu Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Bad call there that screws the Cyclones out of a first down. The defender tackled the ISU reciever but he fell on the defender and never hit the ground. He got back up and ran it forward another 10 yards. They reviewed it and claimed his forearm hit but it never did. They really need better replay officials.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Liberty Bowl is pretty solid. Not going to touch last year's fantastic Louisville/Boise match-up, but Fresno and Tulsa are slugging it out in fine fashion. And those colors look nice in high-definition, for a bonus.
Guest Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 My problem with the games today is that they are too damn early.
Damaramu Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Well ISU is making it a game after taking the lead 17-14.
Damaramu Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 TCU is up 24-17 at the half after leading ISU 14-0. The football is greased or on fire or something because neither team can hold onto it.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Tulsa pulls the upset. UCLA, Virginia, Missouri, and Tulsa have all come back from what looked like thrashings early. Good back-and-forth bowl games this season.
Damaramu Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Tulsa didn't look like they were going to take a thrashing early. They were down 7-0 and then came back to take a 14-7 lead early.
Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Yeah, but did you watch the first quarter? It was a thrashing. The only big play was the stop on fourth down deep in Tulsa territory, which was more a stupid playcall from Pat Hill than Tulsa doing something great. Someone made adjustments in the second, but they put up about 10 yards in the first quarter versus a huge push from Fresno. Took plenty of time for them to wake up.
Damaramu Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Meyer needs to get his head on his shoulders for ISU to have a shot in this game b/c Stevie Hicks injury is preventing him from doing anything.
teke184 Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 (edited) Supposedly, the players made the choice of doing the fake punt on the field. I think things like that are totally overblown, so I don't care. If you see a chance to make a play, then you do it. Certainly fits with past precedent for LSU... The first First Down of the Les Miles era was against Arizona State when, on a 4th down, punter Chris Jackson faked and threw a pass to Ronnie Prude. What makes it so ballsy is that LSU was *WITHIN THEIR OWN 20* at the time. That play turned out to be an "automatic", which is an audible in which the punter is allowed to take that chance if he sees it's open. Edited December 31, 2005 by teke184
Damaramu Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 Well Iowa State goes and fucks things up for the Big XII in true Iowa State fashion. Oh well the Big XII has already proved this bowl season that it's not as bad as everyone thought it was and if Texas or Texas Tech win then that is definitely solidified. Definitely not the "piece of shit" it was described to be on the board. Still a down year but nowhere near as bad as the Big East or even close to being near the Big East like it was once described on this board. `
Slayer Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 I'm a bit late on the matter since I was on the road for the last couple of days, but what do you think about a certain chicken restaurant dumping the "Peach" from the Peach Bowl?
teke184 Posted January 1, 2006 Report Posted January 1, 2006 I'm a bit late on the matter since I was on the road for the last couple of days, but what do you think about a certain chicken restaurant dumping the "Peach" from the Peach Bowl? I don't like it and the bowl committee probably isn't much happier, but those are the realities when you start tossing that much money around. The Chick-Fil-A Bowl is tossing enough money around that it's replacing the Gator Bowl as the destination for the #2 team in the ACC and has the potential to rise up the SEC bowl hierarchy and challenge the Capitol One (Citrus) Bowl for the same right. Currently, the bowl pays out about $2.35 million per team, which ranks them as 8th out of 27 bowls, behind the BCS bowls (Sugar, Rose, Fiesta, Orange), the Capitol One Bowl, the Outback Bowl, and the Cotton Bowl. Their new payout of $3+ million per team moves them up to 6th, behind only the BCS bowls and the Capitol One Bowl. Combine that with the quality of the Georgia Dome vs. some of the other stadiums at similar-tier bowls coughCOTTONBOWLcough and Atlanta's reputation as a transportation hub and you've got the formula for a strong bid at becoming the next BCS Bowl when they add a new game over the next few years.
