Ok, here's a little game for us to play. The game involves WWF/WWE Champions and their title reigns. A person names a wrestler, and the poster after him states if his reign was transitional (ie putting a title on somebody so they can put over the "future of the company [sheik to Hogan in 84 for example] or traditional (Hulk Hogan's reign from 1984-1988).

Some of the reigns are cut and dry, but others are up for debate, which is the purpose of this thread.

So I'll start off with Randy Savage's 1992 reign. Someone will reply it was either transitional or traditional, explain why, then name another wrestler...and this will keep going.

Normal reign, since he lost it back to the guy he won it from a few months later (Flair). But Flair's 2nd run with the title was actually the transitional reign, as after he won it back from Savage, he dropped it to Bret fairly quickly.

The Big Show's first reign in November/December 1999, into 2000 if memory serves.

Too short to be anything really. Keep in mind, his only successful PPV title defense was against Big Bossman.

HTQ, do you know, had the Survivor Series '99 match gone as planned, and I'm aware that WWF knew weeks beforehand that Austin couldn't wrestle, but if he wasn't hurt, would Austin have won the title there? I remember reading back then that they wanted to do Austin/Rock at WM2000, but I'm not sure if that was true.

The very original plans were Austin Vs The Big Show

Yeah, I know. But they kind of ruined that by having Austin pin Big Show the week before WM15. A match isn't going to be the modern day Hogan/Andre when give it away on free TV and job the monster heel in his second match. I remember reading around October '99 that they wanted to do Austin/Rock again at WM.

It was meant to go like this:

Hunter beats Austin for the WWF Title to Hunter at Summerslam

Hunter beats Austin at No Mercy because of a miscue from Rock

Hunter beats Austin and Rock at SS by pinning Rock due to a miscue from Austin

Austin beats Hunter for the WWF Title at the Rumble

Rock wins the Rumble to set up Austin vs. Rock at WM XV

Rock beats a heel Austin for the WWF Title at WM XV

The early plan for show was to have Austin vs. Show for WM XV, but they blew that in less than a month with Austin beatin Show clean on Raw.

Traditional because he had the title for a year and he continued his feud with Randy Savage and had a feud with Zeus so it was a legit reign before the Ultimate Warrior ever got involved and they easily could have had Warrior beat Savage for the title without a problem.

Thanks.
