I had this realllly good one, I hit 3-4 bombs in a row without a bounce and I only got 920 something.

 

Do you better scores hitting it a line drive or way high in the air?

I don't think that matters. Hitting a mine on the first landing is really the key to having a realistic shot at breaking 1,000 feet. Even then, you need at least two or three more first-bounce mine landings to do it.
