Starrcade

12/03/05

Today marked the most chaotic event in MSW history, as the stars of MSW and the XWF simply could not be contained by any rules or respect, and all that led to an incredible night of action, perhaps the greatest event in MSW history, Starrcade 2005: National Warfare!

Tribute to Eddie Guerrero

The show kicked off with a ten-bell salute to Eddie Guerrero, after which all the wrestlers chanted Eddie's name in tribute. Eddie Guerrero will never be forgotten by any of us, and his spirit will continue to live on in the wrestling world, including MSW.

MSW World Championship

Tables Match

Jett © vs. The KliniK

This was promoted as a match that could headline any show including this one, and it certainly did not disappoint! This match was a great follow-up to the previous matches between these two, with a lot of incredible action, mixing pure wrestling with hardcore mayhem. These two warriors battled back and forth until Lil Ace attacked Jett, after which The KliniK simply threw him through a table for the win to become just the second ever four-time MSW World Champion, his first time holding that title in over two years!

WINNER: The KliniK

Double X vs. Sir Buffkins

Despite being out of action for months, Double X didn't miss a step, attacking Sir Buffkins from the very beginning and almost completely dominating the match. Despite his impressive offense, Buffkins gained an upset victory when a mysterious unknown masked man leaped down from the roof, attacked both men, and placed Buffkins on top of Double X for the referee to count the three, marking the first ever win of Sir Buffkins's nearly two-year career!

WINNER: Sir Buffkins

MSW Intercontinental Championship

Lil Ace © vs. Deeter

These two had a great "pure wrestling, no weapons" match in May at XWF Xtreme Massacre, and under the same rules in MSW, they performed just as well! This match went back and forth, as both men wanted to leave as IC Champion and make a name for themselves in Starrcade history, but in the end, Jett gained revenge on Lil Ace, running in and hitting him with an RKO, after which Deeter picked up the win for the first singles title of his career!

WINNER: Deeter

MSW Tag Team Championship

Three-Way Elimination Match

The KliniK & Brandon vs. Jett & Josh vs. Double X & Deeter

This match was originally scheduled as just The KliniK & Brandon vs. Jett & Josh, but due to a request by Deeter right before the show started filming, MSW decided to add Double X & Deeter to involve nearly everyone in this huge match to crown MSW Tag Team Champions for the first time in two years! At first, one man from each team was in the match, and it compeletely broke down into six-man mayhem, so The KliniK restored order by allowing only two men in the ring at a time, and added the very interesting rule that both members of a team must be eliminated, in other words, no wrestler is eliminated unless he himself is pinned or submits. This was still a very chaotic match, and it ended up down to The KliniK & Brandon vs. Josh in a handicap match, when KliniK hit the KliniKal Depression on Josh, followed up by a frogsplash by Brandon to crown The KliniK & Brandon the new MSW Tag Team Champions!

WINNERS: The KliniK & Brandon

Walk-In KliniK

Even The KliniK's own personal show was not spared by the XWF-allied wrestlers and their mayhem, but he managed to make some key announcements about the future of MSW. He announced that the next MSW show would be entitled Obsession and feature Double X vs. Josh in a "Loser Leaves MSW" match (made after both men interrupted the Walk-In KliniK) and the MSW World Champion defending against Deeter. In addition, he announced Starrcade 2006: Summit of Greatness for the first weekend of December 2006, where backyard wrestlers from around the country will converge to face off in MSW! MSW will have a year to prepare and get talent for this incredible event! But in the meantime, The KliniK had Lil Ace as his guest and asked him why he cost Jett the MSW World Title. Ace stated that the title was going to Jett's head and that he had to snap him out of it. Jett then came out, and the two argued and nearly came to blows before KliniK announced the main event of the night, in which he would defend the MSW World Title against both Jett and Lil Ace in a no DQ three-way match! The three did end up coming to blows later in the segment, ending with The KliniK walking out with the belt and promising to see the two later that night!

Brandon vs. Josh

This was a brief but very important match, pitting two of MSW's rising stars against each other. Although Josh was looking to get back to his winning ways after losing the MSW IC Title last month, it was not to be, as Brandon's brute strength overpowered Josh and continued his winning streak!

WINNER: Brandon

MSW World Championship

No DQ Three-Way Match

The KliniK © vs. Jett vs. Lil Ace

This was the biggest match in MSW history, and it was all-out national warfare, as every weapon in the book was tossed in here! The KliniK and Lil Ace even briefly fought on top of the roof! But in the end, despite being attacked several times by an unknown newcomer, after some of the most brutal action in MSW history, Jett gained the win, hitting the swanton on both men and pinning both of them at the same time! This match was total mayhem and truly lived up to the name of Starrcade!

WINNER: Jett

This was certainly an exciting event, and MSW looks to be on the verge of an equally exciting 2006, kicking things off with Obsession (headlined by Jett vs. Deeter for the MSW World Title), and culminating with bringing backyard stars from around the country for Starrcade 2006: Summit of Greatness! Will we find out more about the two mystery men seen today? Is it over between Jett and Lil Ace, or has it just begun? And how will The KliniK deal with having the MSW World Title ripped away from him so soon after winning it? The answers to these questions and more remain to be seen! But in the meantime, check out KliniKal Discussion this Friday for thoughts on Starrcade 2005 and more MSW news!

Wow, I had no idea that wrestling's greatest tradition had continued after WCW went out of business! And the title changing hands twice in one night........that never happened at any of WCW's "Starrcade" events! The KliniK and Jett sound like great wrestlers worthy of carrying on the legacy of Starrcade!

Dude, it's a backyard fed. Still, that's a pretty nice replica of the late 90's WWF belt he's got there. I wonder how much that cost.

Well, they've held Starrcade every year since 2001. It looks like they have more of a claim on Starrcade than WWE does right now (especially since WWE cancelled all their trademarks on the name).

First of all, promoted to whom? Second of all, if it's a headlining match, why is it the curtain-jerker? Third of all, what kind of booking genius makes the "World Title" match the first match of the card?

I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to give this one the Homer Simpson special: "It receives my worst grade yet: seven thumbs up."
