CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2006 My second post in this thread was an apology for trying to influence others....if you don't like golf, no skin of my ass, enjoy your other sports....let's let opinions be shared and not repressed. Anything less is Communism.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2006 I'll probably get banned for saying it, but my favorite sporting moment of the year used to be the final out of the World Series. Now that ESPN covers the post-World Series hype and hot-stove "action" as a real sport, it's kind of lost it's luster for me. That time of the year still coincides with the thick of the football season and is still pretty early in the hockey season (before I realize that the Bruins are pretenders more than contenders) so I guess that's still my favorite time of the year. Kismet 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2006 Spring to early summer. Stanley Cup, Basketball playoffs, Baseball starts (and I can pretend the Tigers are really going to break .500 this year). Good times.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2006 I can tell you the worst time is February. Nothing's happening in February. Conference play in college hoops really heats up. My honest-to-goodness automatic reaction to that was to go "ooooooh!" and make the nWo spooky fingers. Sigh. Uncivilized southern hicks who only care about football. I didn't mean that in a demeaning way. He just happened to phrase that in a way that was really funny at the time. Now it just looks mean. It's not that us southern folk are uncivilized, it just never gets cold enough to get into sports that involve being indoors. I actually drove home from work with the windows down today, to give you the idea of what a fairly average winter day is like here. EDIT: And I'll admit I watch some of the final days of the major golf tournaments. It's not bad, just intensely boring if some incredibly important circumstances like the PGA Championship aren't in effect.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2006 Yes, conference tournies are awesome. I've only been to the MAAC ones, with zero crowds, and the intensity of the games is great. Hopefully, Northern Arizona can dominate the Big Sky... I'd love to see that. No way. Montana's the shit this year. Best they've been in decades. As for favorite time of year, it's got to be the NCAA tourney. The actual tournament's more pure fun than any other two events combined.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted January 12, 2006 Fuck Montana. I want to see conference tourney games, and I want an excuse to go to Flagstaff.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted January 12, 2006 My favorite is a couple weeks ago. Bowl games, NFL Playoff insanity, no baseball highlights, and both college and pro basketball seasons are taking shape.
