Mortal Kombat Armageddon

Recommended Posts

Recently, an email has been posted on Mortal Kombat Online's forum that is supposedly from Vogel himself. The email talks about the lack of character biographies in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, and states that while they were made, Vogel and the rest of the MK team were ordered by Midway to not include them. The email also goes further to suggest that, with enough convincing, the biographies could be posted online. However, when questioned by Mortal Kombat Online about the bios, Midway confirmed that they do not exist in any form, online or off, so it is unknown if the posted email is a fake, or if it real, and Midway did not know about the bios, when they were contacted about them

"In fact, by gathering up all 60 Relics in Konquest mode, you can unlock nearly everything in the Krypt straight away, allowing the player to save their Koins for unlocking items for the Kreate-a-Fighter mode (which also requires Koins to unlock). Only one Koffin in the Krypt - a mysterious question mark box that asks for a six-key code to be inputed - remains locked afterwards; So far, this box seems to be similar to the "versus screen codes" from Mortal Kombat 3 and its updates, where inputing a certain code will unlock the other items in the Krypt (though there is some speculation that some codes will also unlock other secrets not available in the Krypt). Among the more popular rumors about the unlockables in this box are new items for the game's Kreate-a-Fighter mode, a video depicting what truly happens after the storyline Armageddon, and Khameleon (the only playable character from a past MK to not be included in the MKA roster)."

I picked this up today since it was only $20 brand new at a local shop. I'd heard something on another board about MK1 being unlockable.. is this true or BS?

If BS, is there a compliation set or any other way to get MK1 on PS2 (original, not ROM versions)?

BS.

MK1 is available on PS2 in the Kollector's Edition of Mortal Kombat Deception on the bonus disc.

Armageddon's premium edition has UMK3.

The special edition MK Deception came with MK1. MKA Special edition came with UMK3.

I think that's it for PS2. It was going to be in Midway Arcade Treasures 2 but they took it out to put it in MKD.

Ahh, okay. Looks like I'm going to have to pick up the MK:D SpEd.. if I can find it. I'm on a huge retro gaming kick lately. I guess todays crop just isn't doing it for me anymore.

Anybody hear anything on the Wii version that's coming out in May? Apparently they're adding Khameleon to the roster and adding motioned-based fatalities. It has potential to be really good on the Wii, or if I know Midway correctly, they'll screw it up in an unspectacular fashion. Of course, it'll be compatible for the GameCube and Classic Controller if they do mess it up. No online, though, if you actually care. I'll pick it up when it comes out mostly because I'm a *gasp* Mortal Kombat fan and actually enjoy playing the games, even the recent ones.

Even if the controls work it will still be MK Armageddon.

Today's fighters don't do it for you but MK1 does!? Nostalgia wins.

MK1 was a serious "beer goggles" fighter.

I no longer have Deception, but I think I have the bonus disc with MK1 on it lying around somewhere. I'm not sure where, though, which is unusual for me.

At least play UMK3.

If you find it and are willing to part with it, I'd gladly purchase it.

Play the real version....GENESIS!!!!!!

O'Doyle: Mortal Kombat on Sega Genesis is the best video game ever.

Billy: I disagree. It's a very good game, but i think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.

O'Doyle: Donkey Kong sucks!

Billy: You know something? YOU SUCK!

If anybody wants to have some fun *not really*, look for the ROMs of the pirated NES versions of the Mortal Kombat series. That is the definition of awful.

There's plenty of awful real MK games without resorting to pirated ones. MK for Gameboy, MK II for PSX

or MK 3 for Master System. A trilogy of horror.

Yay Khameleon! More ninjas. That is what the game needs more of. Get Tremor in there too.

My Genesis broke down many moons ago. I don't aim to have a shit load of consoles cluttering up my living room anyway. That's why these retro-game collections appeal to me. Lots of great games that I don't have to invest a shitload of time into - I can just pick up and play at will - all on one system. :P

What's so bad about the PSX version? Isn't that the same as the Saturn, which is pretty good save for missing sound samples?

Ok. I'll PM you if I have any luck.

Yes, yet another installment of MK is coming to the DS, courtesy of Midway; rather predictably, we know almost nothing about it. The only comment given: "it [won't be] a direct port of a previous title, it [won't] be a brand-new game either."

Translation: It'll be an existing game with extra crap thrown in it, or a compilation.

I'll guess MK1-3 or Armageddon with touch-screen fatalities.

EDIT: Not that they've actually made any "new" games in years. Armageddon is Deadly Alliance part 3.

It's based on it but it's worse. Feels like it wasn't finished and Acclaim just shipped it out. It has load time DURING the fight. Like you do a move and the game pauses to load.

Acclaim

This is all you *really* needed to say. :P

Damn, that's messed up. Especially after how well the MK3 turned out for PSX (morph loads aside of course).
