Are you the only one that likes to do things?

Recommended Posts

Ok does anyone else have this problem I have?

I've had the same friends pretty much since High School. I have other friends but I have the same core group if you know what I mean.

Well in HS we were the nerds(yeah yeah i'm still a nerd. bite me) and never went to parties or really did anything. We'd play D&D on Friday nights, go bowling, go play laser tag, watch movies, or play video games. Nothing terribly exciting at all.

Well that was all well and good ya know because we had fun and didn't need to do anything else.

Well I was still like that for my first year or two of college but then I started playing Rugby and making friends in college and I realized how much fun I had going out and having a good time. I liked parties but more importantly than party I liked bars and clubs.

I turned 21 and I was finally old enough to go to any bar or club I wanted.

Well I've run into a snag. I have one friend that likes going to clubs but not bars and then all my other friends from that "core" group are the same way they were in HS! I mean we're 21 and 22 years old here and nobody wants to do anything beyond play Halo or go to a movie.

I mean jesus christ that's fun but sometimes I want to go dance or play poole and drink.

Does anyone else have this problem? Loser friends that don't ever want to be social? Essentially they're all anti-social.

I mean I want to go to a bar sometimes but then I have nobody to go with. I don't want to be that creepy guy sitting at the bar alone butting in on the conversations of others.

I mean I know I could just make new friends but these are friends I've had for years and it's hard to make a really trustworthy friend these days.

Anyone run into this problem? Is there anyway to make your friends social or make them go out?

No. I'm Princess Antisocial that gets called every once in a while to do things, but I'd rather watch paint dry than be in any crowded situation.

I regret not going out tonight. I am presently on day three of giving up my biggest vice: caffeine. I had some work to do today, by the end of it, I had a major headache and was physically ill from the withdrawal. It's since passed, but now here I am, sitting in my apartment, alone, too drunk to go out and drive somewhere.

It's way better to sit back and let people talk to you, Dama. Making yourself an on-demand guy will do wonders.

What do you mean?

My friend that actually goes to clubs doesn't ever talk to girls or ask them to dance. He always waits for them to come to him. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. It just depends.

It works, especially if you can dance. By the end of the evening, so long as you're not a pussy and can stick out there for a while and continue to impress, you will have the hottest girl in the place on you. I guarantee it.

That's really funny because I actually lost a close friend of mine last spring because of that very same problem.

He started a new job where all his co-workers would do is smoke weed and go to clubs so naturally, he started doing the same. I personally, no offense, find that boring, I don't like paying money to go to a place with my friends when I can talk and drink with them at someone's house for free. Plus I'm shy so it doesn't work in my favor. It also doesn't help as they do it ALL the time, It's not fun that way.

One day he ditched me because we were sitting in a parking lot talking and he was like "aw man this is boring". He really wasn't content with anythng at all and wound up calling me and the rest of our friends boring and we haven't talked much since.

Honestly for me, as long as I'm with a great group of friends having a great conversation, then that's all I really need. I don't need to be in a club or bar or smoke weed excessivley. It's not a social issue, it just isn't something that suits my preference.

I'll do stuff, but it's not really crucial that I do, because I'm more comfortable with just conversations and all that, like the guy above just said. I'm not a hard-partying guy. Some people are really hung up on how busy they make themselves. These are usually the same types who make sure they cell-phone-photograph themselves in excess of a hundred times whenever they're out. You know, as if they need visual documentation to reaffirm that they did, in fact, goof around in a grocery store or whatever.

Surprising, as much as most of my friends are into drinking and partying, we all seem to agree that we'd rather hang out and get drunk watching wrestling.

Oh and I totally know what Dama is talking about. I have one friend who is almost a complete social outcast. He doesn't really like any people so it makes hanging out with him (and other people really hard). When I try to mingle with other people and he's there, he usually acts like he's been shot/bored completely out of him mind.

I'd prefer a few friends, a few beers and some hard shit, and bad movies over going to a club. But if my friends want me to go out with them late at night and I don't have work the next day, I'm gung-ho.

But my evenings are usually spent with my girlfriend and some lame movies to watch.

Well, I was talking to my dad about it and it turns out he doesn't live in Franklin anymore but Brockton.

His name is Scott Staunton.

If he's under 22 and lived in Franklin within the last 4 years, I've prolly run into him once or twice. Laz = townie.

So you think Dama worked on some of this stuff without this board for a couple'a days?

I hope he found a more suitable board for him... like an Oklahoma, or Big 12 mark board, or something.

I'm not opposed to people, but they aren't terribly important to me. Sociopath... you know how it is.

To quote Bukowski, I don't hate people I just prefer it when they're not around.
