Team Angle Pusher Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 When can a promotion use the NWA name like NWA:TNA, NWA:CS, NWA:W etc. How can a promotion become part of the NWA, I don't really get it.
Corey_Lazarus Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 They talk to the group of promoters that call themselves the NWA Board of Directors and strike a deal with them. I think that in turn of being able to book the national NWA champions that you have to pay a fee (don't know if it's per show, per month, per year, etc.) to keep the NWA name.
Crimson G Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 Edit: My first double post ever. Sorry about that.
Guest Hass of Pain Posted January 20, 2006 Report Posted January 20, 2006 The membership fee is $2,500 with the only real qualifications being that your promotion must run at least four shows per year.
JST Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 That's the gist of it. Any of those feds could promote, say, Jeff Jarrett (or the actual NWA champ) defending the belt against their local top guy.
snuffbox Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 Jarrett's not the official NWA champ is he? Just TNA's but he has the old belt?
Crimson G Posted January 21, 2006 Report Posted January 21, 2006 No, he's the NWA World Champ. TNA has control over their "world-level" titles per their contract with the NWA.
Bruce Blank Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 yep he is the world champ but they can technically book him - if they can work out a deal with the TNA offices. same with tag champs - it's for all of the NWA as well
Guest asher66 Posted January 22, 2006 Report Posted January 22, 2006 Does anyone know where that $2,500 fee goes? Into the pockets of the commission or somewhere else?
