Super Bowl XL

Recommended Posts

My mom (who has never watched a sporting event in her life) knows who the Seattle Seahwaks are. If people really dont know who they are, or find them boring (a team with a record-setting offense and the most sacks in the NFL), then they should just watch videos of their favorite bandwagon teams in lieu of the SuperBowl.

Im also sure that people were saying this same nonsense in 'the early 80s for the 49ers (who?) vs Bengals (huh?) game.

People know what the Seattle franchise is, thanks to the constant plastering of their name and logo on every network, newspaper and website over the last two weeks. People just don't know them. There's a lack of superstar players (Alexander is far from superstar level), it's a city very people identify with or if they do, they attach it with Cobain, computers and coffee.

Pittsburgh has a legacy that people are familar with, an obvious sentimential story in Bettis and a rising superstar QB in Big Ben.

A record breaking, league leading running back isnt a superstar? I guess he needs to get caught with a hooker and an 8-ball to reach that level.

I'll take Franco Harris's former team.

You are a tricky one....

I want to see Franco and Jim Brown's physical challenge that aired in 1984ish with Bill Cosby as Emcee.

Brown was pissed that Franco was dragging out his career trying to catch Brown's all time rushing mark (Payton beat Harris to it)

So are we going to get individual player introductions this year or that bullshit "team" introductions that the Patriots started doing in recent years?

Blame it on the team he plays for, being trapped in a market like Seattle where ESPN and other national sources don't pay attention to, has caused him not to be exposed enough to the casual fans. Credit his lack of personality to be a reason, he isn't a top-shelf name in the NFL.

Having great stats doesn't always mean people know who you are. It's about where you play and what you have done.

You need to stop acting like it's a personal insult that people don't follow Seattle. This team has a history of mediocrity, no other major stars except Largent. How can you expect people to care about Seattle. It's fact. They lack a superstar presence and lack anything meaty enough for the media to push to the country.

That's why the expectations are low, that's why Pittsburgh dominated the media focus.

It's Seattle's chance to step up and show the nation who they are...but it won't matter. Next september, it'll still be "Seattle what?"

Ford Field is gorgeous. It's a shame that the Lions have to suck, so we don't get to see that stadium packed to the gills on national television.

Here's to Vince finding enough fans to cram in there for Wrestlemania XXIII.

I liked how they zoomed in on the young, trendy black people for a good while there, since its BLACK music or whatever.

Subtle racism is funny.

Fuck, Bored beat me to it.

The only other guy I noticed being gone was Jake Scott, MVP of the Dolphins undefeated season SB

Oh, and Harvey Martin didn't show up either, but I think we can excuse him

Oh boy "team" introductions. They're never going to do player introductions ever again. Fuck you Patriots.

Poor Seahawks, this is a Steelers home game.

What do you have against team introductions? Do we really need to stretch the pre-game anymore?

Yes we do or just eliminate the pregame musical performance that didn't use to exsist. The individual player introductions were a cool little Super Bowl tradition. NFC gets their offense introduced, the AFC gets their defense introduced. Personally it brought a little extra excitement to the game right before the kick off.

And the team introductions are just lame, self serving crap. Oooo we're a team, we don't think of ourselves. Bullshit.

TOM BRADY? Are they fucking kidding me? Seriously you have 90% of Super Bowl MVPs in the stadium and they choose an active player to do the coin toss?

That is just so fucking incredibly lame to have Tom Brady flip the coin. Thanks NFL.

But was it just me or did it sound like they booed him?
