Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 I'm reading Shiek Adnan's book and he talks about being friends with Saddam Hussein in the 70's and being Saddam's hand picked "Arab World Champion". Adnan was in charge of setting up matches and doing the promoting. He fought and english champion (His name escapes me) in the 1st Iraq pro match ever and beat him in front of 200,000 people. He then fought Bob Roop in front of a simailr crowd months later. Then he fought Andre the Giant twice in a week's span. The first match drew over 300,000 people (paying 10-15 a head Adnan claims) He slammed Andre and pinned him. Andre's payoff was $10,000 Adnan kept millions. Saddam caught on to Adnan's $$$ and made someone in the government take over as gate keeper. So Adnan fought roughly twice a year and made millions of dollars, until he became to popular and snuck out of Iraq since he was on Saddam;s hit list. Saddam was in attendence for all the matches and thought they were shoots. Shiek would be executed if they found out otherwise. --- Other good stories: He accidently broke 4 of Verne's ribs in 1984(?) during the Adnan/Blackwell (?) vs Mad Dog/Verne match. Verne was pissed but the Boys all cheered him since 50+ year old Verne wouldn't sell for the young guys. Jerry Blackwell and Shiek were at a grocery store, Shiek left 1st and Blackwell (who shiek called a fat slob who ate nothing but junk food) and went to the car. Blackwell came out and went into the wrong car, the old people who owned the car begged him to get out (they were outside of it) Blackwell thought they were making fun of his girth and this went on for a while until Shiek pulled up. Blackwell was pissed and tossed his food at the old people's car. more to come (Someday>)
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 He and 8 other wrestlers were in AWA's private plane when Adonis had to shit, the pilot told him he had to wait so Adonis grabbed a bag and shit in it. It stunk up the whole plane and everybody was dying, so Mad Dog Vachon grabbed the bag and opened up the plane door (way in flight) and tossed it out. The plane went out of control and nose dived the pilot barely saved the day and mad Dog was banned from the plane for life.

Adnan, Haystacks and Calhoun's 300+ lb wife look all over. Finally his wife finds the dog all matted into their mattress. The dog got rolled on by Haystacks and was smooshed to death. Adnan laughed. Another haystacks tale: The wrestlers are on a plane. haystacks in 1st class. All you can eat. So he eats and eats and eats.... So finally nature calls and he tries to squeeze in the bathroom...no go. Stewardess aid him...no go....Finally they take him to the luggage area give him an empty mail bag and try not to watch while Calhoun has hershey squirts to go along with his vomiting.

Inoki drew 150,000 with the assist of the government threats. I can buy a huge crowd coming in a similar situation here. Like i stated he has pictures that back everything up. Plus he was working with Oil Baron billionaires, so its not like a few million would bother them that much.
