Survivor Panama- Exile Island

Recommended Posts

I think Terry has shown an incredible amount of restraint considering what he’s had to go through. He’s been an outcast from the get go surrounded by a Casaya tribe that has constantly been telling him he’s got zero chance of making it to the end, that if he makes a single mistake he’s a goner, attacking him like a pack of wolves every chance they get. It’s natural for someone that has had odds stacked against him to be a little arrogant after making it this far. If I had to listen to people constantly telling me I’m going to be the next one voted off, I sure as hell would be rubbing it in their face that they still haven’t able to get rid of me.

Exactly. People act like Terry's been this jackass the entire season, and he hasn't been. He wasn't even a jackass in the merged tribe until after Casaya COMPLETELY and utterly flaunted their power (and don't give me that only Shane said they were going home. They held a meeting IN THE OPEN right in front of La Mina discussing who would go home. That's arrogance.), and only then because what the hell does he have to lose? Their votes? Most of them probably wouldn't have voted for him anyway. Some probably STILL won't. Shane will vote for Terry because he atleast respects him on a game level, and his tribe pissed him off. Ditto with Courtney. Aras won't vote for Terry, Cirie won't, and Danielle probably won't. So why bother being nice when they treat him like shit anyway?

Fact is, Terry hasn't played the best mentally, but he's made the best of his situation that he could. Danielle and Bruce were MORONS for not turning when Danielle was promised the idol. Terry eventually realized that there was no hope, none of them had the foresight to do anything about their situations despite their out being right there, so he sorta gave up for awhile and only made token efforts.

Terry would have been a very useful tool to some Casaya members had they decided to use him instead of being so stubbornly ignorant. Danielle finally had a coherent thought in her brain and realized "Hey...two v.s. two...I might actually be able to do something!". Too late to save her probably, but atleast she finally, ya know...had a thought.

I think you're forgetting the one major benefit Cirie had. . . she posed absolutely, positively NO threat to anyone physically. In the final 4 she is dangerous because she's the one person who has no problem backstabbing others because she's done nothing all game but ride with the majority. The one thing she deserves credit for is picking up on the tension between Aras, Danielle, Courtney & Shane early on and quickly aligning with the one person who had a level head AND could carry her through to the end. Cirie deserves about as much credit for her play this season as Amber did when Boston Rob handed her the million and the title.

That was indeed a HUGE benefit for her...now, but again you're forgetting - she went from being "first one out" to being the unofficial fifth member of the doomed alliance. We know she was tight with Aras, but it's been shown in the past that she was also tight with Danielle and Shane. It wasn't just one person who decided to keep Cirie and vote off Bobby, when it made no sense to do so at the time - those four had to have had a reason for doing so.

And comparing Cirie to Amber is not a good comparison. Cirie has been lauded for her "3-2-1" play, which Brian tried in Guatemala and failed to execute. Yes, Cirie got it to work because noone perceives her as a threat, but do you think Amber could pull that off?

Don't get me wrong, Danielle wouldn't deserve the money either, but at least she had to endure some time on Exile Island. The reason Cirie never got sent there is because she always had Aras and her complete and utter lack of physical prowess to save her. I just don't like seeing people who don't outdo (m)any of the others win the prize at the end, hence my hatred of the seasons Sandra won when Rupert did all the work, and when Colby basically pleaded for the jury to hand Tina the money as well. Smooth talking or not, none of the women this season did a damned thing of note except fall out of their bikini tops.

I'm sorry, I must've missed the many chances people not named Aras have had to send Cirie there. The fact that Cirie never got sent to Exile Island seems like a failing of the others, not her.

Nice retcon. Noone's said he was an ass. I've called him whiny though. Still, Terry was the undisputed leader of La Mina. He told Misty, Ruth Marie, and Dan that they were going home before TC. He basically left Sally twisting in the wind until she was saved by the immunity/reward twist that sent Dan home. He never did things on a douche level like Shane did, but he was still pretty straightforward about it.

And yes, the Casaya's held an open meeting, conveyed by Shane. But here's the thing. They let Shane do most of the talking. Remember how they had the poll and Shane was voted the "person who thought they were in control of the game, but weren't"? The rest of the Casayas - well, maybe not Bruce. I'm not sure if Bruce was really playing the game or not, and I guess we'll never know for sure - pretty much knew that it would bite him in the ass later.

Fact is, Terry went to Danielle and Bruce because he'd asked Shane if the Final Four were Shane, Cirie, Aras and Courtney and Shane agreed with him (without swearing on his son's name). Of course, Danielle was on Exile Island and Bruce was on reward (or vice versa), so Shane knew that there wasn't going to be much time for strategizing, or that he could talk to the two of them later. And there was that flaw in the plan where he was gonna give Danielle the Talisman, meaning that Bruce was still pretty much in the same spot he was with the Casayas. There was no incentive for Bruce to switch sides. And again, there's Terry's weakness in the mental aspect of the game. He's never brought enough to the table to convince others to hook up with him.

I think Terry still deserves to win for being the one that survived with the target on his back.

My parents asked "Why didn't he give Danielle the idol before tribal?" but I was thinking. If he did that I bet she goes to Aras and Cirie and says "Look what Terry gave me! Let's get him!"

When I said Aras protected Cirie, I meant that he always made the decisions when his team won, and he took the bullet when Terry's team won. Cirie was never in line to go, much like Courtney. Aras also basically sent Danielle 2 or 3 times in order to protect Cirie. The rational thing to do would have been to send them each once, so as to maintain the semblance that they were in equal positions with him. How no one in the game has seen this is beyond me, especially when Cirie's made comments to the effect that she would never, ever vote against Aras.

I think you're giving her far too much credit, when her biggest escape was convincing the other old chicks to get rid of the strongest one. Since then, she's coasted. The 3-2-1 thing didn't really take all that much planning since Terry has voted for Aras every single time since the merge, and has shown little, if any strategic thought in that regard.

Regardless of who wins the money, at this point only two people would deserve it and they are Terry and Aras in that order. Danielle or Cirie pocketing $1 million for riding alliance coattails until the F4 would be just one more reason for me to stop watching this show.

When I said everyone, I didn't mean this thread persay. I've read a bunch of columns, and ninty percent of them act as if Terry's this collosial dickface. He hasn't been, so no. I didn't retcon, I used "everyone" as a general term not directly applied to this discussion at hand.

Why wouldn't Danielle or Bruce switch sides in that situation with Sally and Terry? That's a PERFECT oppertunity to do so. They would have had the majority, or atleast tied it. Two of them would have been safe (Danielle and Terry) both from immunity. Why should Bruce switch? Because Casaya pretty much made it crystal clear to him for a looooooooong time that he was the odd man out and would be gone. Why the hell wouldn't you opt for a final four place, and not a *AT BEST* sixth spot? Plus, he gave Terry his word if I'm not forgetting that if he convinced someone else to join them, he would switch. Those two not making the play to save their asses then is STOOPID.

Terry's biggest flaw, is going to Danielle so damn much. If anything, he should have latched onto Courtney right from the start. She disliked everyone enough that she'd have probably switched immediately. By the time Terry realized that, it was too late.

Terry could have been pulled into an alliance, and WHAM, you've got control of the game. He had a deathlock on the Immunity, so you'd never have to worry about that. I think Shane was finally gettign that right before he got booted, but right after Sally left (or before even), Terry could have swung the game in favor of anyone had they hgad the foresight to do so. None of them did.

Speaking of Courtney.....I would've hit it. Many times over.

I mentioned this to my mom thinking she'd go "That's great. I didn't want to know." or go "ewww! her?" and she went "I think Terry's hot. I'd do him."

That's one of those "Ewww mom!" moments.

I admit that I might be. Nice to see that you're allowing that Terry isn't really as strong as he's been made out to be here as well.

I'll be honest, I haven't seen that. Much. Michaelangelo at IP is pretty anti-Terry, but I'd assume you mean TWoP.

Because of that little issue with there still being Austin and Sally. That's five, not four. And Terry just stabbed one of his "own" in the back.

That's pretty much what I mean when I say that Terry thinks too linearly. A smart F2 opponent would try to expose these flaws

Who was tougher at challenges? Colby, Tom, or Terry?

Good question. There was never an Exile Island for Colby or Tom, but there was arguably more competition for them in individual challenges. Tom and Terry both have seemed to reach a zen-like state during endurance/stamina challenges. Overall I'd give Tom a slight edge because he led Koror to a clean sweep of team Immunities.

Tom was the best because Terry essentially only needed to beat Aras to keep winning the IC's. Colby also had a cupcake draw and considering he gave the million away I can't really say he was the best at anything but being pussywhipped without actually getting any pussy.

I also should clear up the notion that Terry is a great player. Physically he's easily in the all time top 3 or 4, but he is one of THE worst at understanding the mental aspect of Survivor. With half of a brain he would have been able to flip either Courtney, Bruce or Shane at some point but he wanted to get Danielle and that will eventually be his downfall.

Having said that, he did make one of the greatest one vs tribe runs in the history of the show. Sadly he won't even get the $100,000 booby prize for being the best loser.

I hated Tom, but he did dominate the game through challenges.

I doubt he'd have made the final two had he not browbeat Ian the night before into submission. That would have just made me wanna beat him more, but it mentally messed up Ian. Questionable victory at best if you ask me.

I'd give it to Tom though, he dominated. Terry's close, but not there. Plus, Terry won a car. He cannot win. It would implode the universe.

Have you seen something we're not privy to? Because I'd think he'd kill Aras and Cirie/Danielle in the final challenge.

Hey Survivor All-Star 2. Put Tom, Colby, and Terry on a tribe. Would they ever lose a challenge?

Maybe. Too many Alpha Males on one tribe.

I just think they will gear the final challenge to something that requires more luck than skill or stamina to give the other 2 (Aras and the remaining female) a chance to win. If Terry doesn't win the last IC he's not going to the F2. I just think that Mark Burnett and Co. have multiple options for all of the IC events and mix and match depending on what kind of result they're hoping for. For instance, the puzzles seem to come up more often than not when a weak tribe is getting their ass kicked physically, or something requiring brute strength when a smarter/more cohesive tribe is dominating the action. There are always exceptions to the rule, and a guy like Tom essentially ran the table, but I think at this point Aras KNOWS he can't give in because Terry won't pick him for the F2 either. With a 2 in 3 shot that Terry gets screwed I'm sticking with the odds.

I still think Danielle will win the money and she was my pick from the beginning because A) she's female, B) she's got huge boobs C) she had just enough athleticism to contribute without being a threat. Considering the "right" person often doesn't win Survivor, I expect her to pull off a 5-2 decision over Aras.

This final IC is corny as fuck. I hate ones where the person with the least weight and/or smallest feet has such a huge advantage. This was basically made for Danielle to win.

So Aras won 5-2. I didn't think he deserved it, but Danielle would have lost 5-2 or 6-1 to Terry too so she had no chance either way.

Bullshit. Terry was robbed. He should've been sitting there.

But judging from the reactions of the jury members when he was voted off he would've easily won it.

Still I hate Danielle and I hate Aras. Bad survivor season.

But then again I've been getting my winners. I was screwed on All-Star having to watch everyone act like a dumbass and let Rob and Amber run away with it. But then I got Chris, Tom, and anyone but Stephanie. So I guess I was spoiled.

Oh I just watched a little farther and saw how Cirie would've voted for Danielle. God I hated that bitch...and I think Bruce had a boner for her...dirty old man.

Looking at that again I think you meant to say "lowest center of gravity". Bruce woulda kicked everyone's arses.
